Probs more to do with the Rhead factor and who pays the most.

Green was on a lot at Mansfield, more than most were willing to pay.

He will play till he's 50. Amazing he can keep himself so fit. All credit to him that he keeps getting himself clubs and contracts at league level

Well Marriotts off then so guess I'll get back in my box about us signing Collins then.

Am disappointed in that though really even though he had a poor year last season

Still if we've sold him for more than we're paying for Collins I suppose it's pretty decent business by us.

*If* the rumoured fees are accurate then we've sold him for not far shy of double what we'll be paying for Collins. I'm disappointed we've cashed in so early on someone I believe to be a very talented player, but there's no denying that's good business.

Jones has said he wants four strikers though so I assume we'll be in the market for another one now too. Unless Cook counts...

I think Marriott will be a huge miss for you despite signing Collins. Good business in the short term (this season), but if you go up I'm not sure Collins and Hylton will be great at the level above, where as I think Marriott has the potential to be if he's given a good spell in a team.

We've released Kgosi Nthle today. I doubt he'd have been first choice with the signing of Joe Martin but a bit surprised as we'd already released Fox. Hopefully we recruit someone capable of covering at left back, don't fancy Franks filling in there but as things stand he's the only option if Martin were to be unavailable.

I love Jack and am sad we've sold him, but I'm not sure a "huge miss" is a very fitting way to describe a player who barely got in the team in the second half of last season and scored 8 league goals. He was definitively third choice even without factoring in Collins.

If we go up and Hylton/Collins/whoever don't make the grade then we sign someone else, we'll worry about that when the time comes.

Assuming Collins comes in then Marriott would have started next season as a distant 4th choice after a pretty poor last season. Spend the money on Collins and probably at least two quality box to box midfielders and I'll be happy.

Luton's promotion hopes will come down to how much they can improve the midfield which was a disaster last season. So far McCormack is a good start but can you count on him to stay fit, I don't know. Other than that they've only got worse so much much more business hopefully left to come.

Local press reports re Collins to Luton seem to be bad rehashes of previous stories. The Brighton Argus gets quite a few facts wrong (ie we sold Tubbs to Posh) and the Observer seems to have completely made up a press conference. Having said that I expect him to leave.

Our director of football and chief interpreter (it's where Mourinho started) tweeted 'judge us at the end of the window. Increased budgets and multiple transfers on the way'.

I expect us to be the strongest team in the league next season. Holding everyone else up.

Cook NEVER counts... how the hell he is still here i've no idea. Compare to how players like Marriott & Gray were managed last season (a pretty short hook for both in the end for both of them) to how Cook was managed (automatic first choice regardless of his, usually non, performance) is really a massive head scratcher.

I am disappointed and a little concerned that we are getting rid of young and in my opinion ascending player, who fits the profile of player I thought the club were looking for without giving him a real fair chance and replacing him with the type of signing that we dont really have a great track record with i.e. expensive strikers!

I guess if we sign a some decent midfield players off the back of the money we have made this summer as well as Collins then it is absolutely the right move but until that point I cant say i am actually overly pleased with this summers business so far to be honest as some seem to be.

The Posh chairman says it was a "substantial fee", he very well might be playing to the gallery with that, as is his wont it seems, but looks like a big fee at the least.

Anthony Kay signs. Seems to have had a very good career but not a great time at Bury last season.

Experience will help. See how he does.

We may not have a team but Thommo is back home :2thumb:
Good luck with that he's fucking useless and one player we won't miss,he runs about but loses the ball more times than not and must have a problem with his eyesight as he could rarely find another player in the light and dark blue quarters shirt.

Another experienced head at the back. That's RB sorted. We are slowly building a no-nonsense team.

No Nonsense is probably not the way I would describe Purkiss to be honest! His fannying around was the cause of a few problems last season and he probably needs to leave Vale after a really bad season from him (was decent the first) hopefully a fresh start will do him good as seems a nice enough bloke (sounds really intelligent when interviewed!)

We all really liked him when he was at Walsall a couple years back, we even used to call him the white Cafu (slightly sarcastically mind you). For a big bloke he's surprisingly technical and half decent going forwards but had almost no pace whatsoever.

Was really decent when we first had him but had a shocker last season (not the only one mind!)
