Sarll has provided an update on the three players we've offered contracts to, Schumacher and McAnuff 50/50 to sign, seems like the players aren't against staying, just a difference on the money side of things. Sounds like Jamie Jones will probably be leaving us. There's on an offer on the table but he's not interested as things stand.

I prefer Day to Jones in goal anyway, even if he is in his 40s. For the coming season I'd be happy with Day as number one and for us to use the Jones money to get an adequate back up with some money to spare.

He's a funny one, went from the most promising midfielder most of us had seen to someone who just looked disinterested and lacking in any ability.

He was very much the forgotten man at Pools for ages until we had a mini injury crisis and were forced to play him as a centre back and to everyone's amazement he was actually dominant, never put a foot wrong, he's not a midfielder anymore for me, too stiff and too slow, play him as a centre half and you might be on to something.

I know, JMD is probably one of the most exciting ones to come out of all the rumours. I know he has been here because of the training pics but it's gone very quiet on that front since Monday.

Re the keeper, I read elsewhere that he could have been on loan at Barnet at some stage.

Hope is an ok player. When played down the middle with another striker his game is good, especially his link up play and strength. He might not get loads of goals but others will benefit. In his last loan spell he filled in on the left a lot which didn't suit him. I think he's a player who won't get us promoted but is more than good enough to ensure we stay up, which has to be our primary objective with this depleted squad.

We'd 100% need to sign a goal scorer to play alongside him though.

This in a nutshell. Good lad but MUST be played central.

When he can be arsed he will rule L2 any day of the week. The trick is keeping him interested, nobody has managed that in his entire career so far and that is a bloody crying shame because he has all the talent he needs.

I just can't get excited about Hope, his general play is decent enough but he isn't likely to score 10+. I'd like to think we're looking at someone who has potential to score the goals we've lost through Wyke and Jabo.

Whether Etuhu can be arsed or not it is a good signing because it adds depth in quality to our midfield and as for Hallam Hope well like I said before if he is played as a striker and striker only and not shoved out wide where he is shit then he could be a really good signing for this level.

Now we just need a another striker and a whole new defence!

Awesome signing. By all intents and purposes, we have a good attacking and defensive set up. Tonne of League One experience across the back line. And 3 strikers in O'Grady who is too good for here, Dennis who got double figures in League One, and Ugwa who smashed the conference in a poor Woking side.

However, our midfield is pure raw inexperience and promise. Which is worrying. Think the average age is 20. So that's the missing piece.

Far as finances. Our current standing is that whilst we can't go round splashing cash like others- but we have an owner who refuses to let us slip cos of what he's invested, so keeps putting money in. This same person has set a price that no one will match. So I anticipate that we'll just float at a top League Two/bottom League Two level of spendage until some mad man comes and takes us on as a project.
