Tyrone Barnett signs on a two year deal. Physical forward line but doesn't seem like he's done much recently. Gamble.

Hussey set to join on a season long loan. Sheffield United can't wait to get rid but we are where we are.

Two years on another ageing (and also not very good) player. Some very poor business done by Vale this summer, the squad is awful and can only see us struggling.

Might benefit him playing off the Pope. A few strikers have found top form off him so worth a try. Need one more hitman though. Tyler Walker hopefully!

Well the not believing what he's saying could be true. It's been reported that Noble has a year left. Cooper is saying 3?

Noble will hand in a transfer request if he really wants to leave. We are a lot closer to home for him, I don't think he's ever moved his wife and kids

A lot of our players have an option for another year that the club can trigger, Noble is one of these, so technically we can activate that at any time.

Isn't he a left back?

Tyler Walker is a striker. Was when he played his last game for us last season certainly!

Pope, Barnett, Forrester, Walker and promising young Dan Turner id be happy with those forward options. Although maybe cooling on Walker with links to an Ipswich youngster this morning.

We've had a bit rejected for Barrow forward Richie Bennett. Probably nowhere near their valuation.

Ade Azeez - "I've driven down from Scotland with a big smile on my face because I'm really excited to move to Cambridge."

'Course you did son. I'd do exactly the same if I had just scored a very impressive two goals in 38 matches in a piss poor league.

Having watched the SPL highlights regularly on the BBC website last season, the evidence is that he isn't a cool dead-eyed finisher.

We had him on loan a couple of seasons ago and he was like a headless chicken fecking useless! Maybe he's improved since then but i'd be surprised if so,he's so small as well.

So Luton had 3 trialists out last night and Jonesy isn't telling anyone who they are.

The goalkeeper looked completely hopeless, however he's intimating about signing him which I find pretty remarkable.
A right winger who didn't do that much.
The No.10 was pretty influential - he was the best out of the 3 by far, but again not anywhere near the level we need.

That said, they all looked pretty young so they could be earmarked for the development squad.

Mowgli - I wouldn't say 6ft is small, unless there's an error on his wiki page of course.

Rudeboy - Honestly can't remember the last time I watched the SPL highlights, though I used to try to keep up with Scottish footy. What I'm sure of is that I gave up when I saw that a large number of matches were simply devoid of any quality whatsoever. Then Rangers were kicked out of the SPL and I lost any interest I had at the time, as nobody enjoys a one horse race.

He made mistakes but what do you expect from lower league players?
Overall he did well and I was disappointed he left though I understand that he wanted to be a regular starter. If you want players who never make mistakes then watching Rovers must be fucking terrible for you.
Well I've .been watching them for over 55 years -- so I think i'm allowed an opinion. And no it is not terrible for me. If it was I think I would have done something different.

Bit of news for us this afternoon apparently, with suggestions Alex Woodyard has signed a contract extension.

Cracking news if true. Hopefully Raggett follows.

Believe it or not but an Imp on our forum is also a Partick fan, he said something similar on those lines about him fluffing his lines in front of goal time and time again. He is supposed to be rather rapid, but that's pretty much where his talents end supposedly. His goals to game ratio is particularly poor. Was wondering why we were allegedly looking at him TBH, then when it said yesterday about clubs in League Two chasing his signature I had to check again in case there was another one spelt like him, nope it was that player!

If i remember correctly we had him on loan from Charlton,i seem to recall he was sent back before his loan expired.

Having watched him miss chances for us week in, week out I would concur. He's best used as a sub against a tiring defence because he's quick, strong (has bulked up in the last couple of years) and will run at defenders. He can be quite exciting doing that, when he remembers to take the ball with him and doesn't fall over his own feet. If he does happen to get past the last line of defence though, cover your eyes because what comes next won't be pretty.

All of us League 2 club fans can recall players like that who have played for us. Certainly the likes of Liam Hatch and Shaun Batt for us were very similar.
It's an indictment of our footballing culture as well as I'm pretty sure that they wouldn't make the grade at clubs in other countries' professional leagues.

Woodyard signs a new two-year deal. Cracking bit of business, that. I was always pretty confident that he'd stay despite the interest from a lot of Clubs.

There might be some sort of release clause in there, but at least this deal means he can't walk away next summer for nothing if there's still interest there, and I'm sure there will be.

Sounds like Shaun Batt.

Confirmed and a fantastic piece of news, a vital cog in our team on and off the pitch who i'm sure will adapt well to this league.

Am biased but Woodyard for me will become one of the best holding midfielders in this league. He is probably already up there as being one of the greates players in an IMP shirt I have ever seen. Rumoured to have turned down a 100k signing on fee and at least a double your pay wage at Scunny.

This is excellent news, great piece of business.

Same for me, best and most key player for the Imps since I've been watching since 1991.

He may be the best midfielder in this league (yet to be proven) but if the above is correct then he must have a couple of screws loose!

You've obviously never been to Scunny. It'd take more than that!

If he has as good a season this season as last, he'll end up commanding more than that from bigger clubs.
