Adam Marriott wasn't at training today because he's in talks with another club so it looks like we'll be losing him. I'd have definitely kept him as a very good option from the bench, but he'll be wanting more game time this season.

We've got two Norwich lads with us with a view to loan deals and close to two signings, one of which is the result of an accepted bid a couple of weeks ago. Presumably they'll want them going through before we head to Portugal on Tuesday.

We have Dennon Lewis on loan from Watford for six months. A midfielder.

According to Woking fans he is not very good at all but that's ok. He will fit in with our other 30 midfielders.

I liked him when he was at Cambridge United, he was young and I never thought he was that energetic or enthusiastic but definitely had some talent. A good squad player and worth a gamble for a League 2 club.

Owner reckons we've offered 100k down for Noble, as that is what Forest Green suggested they wanted for him, following -a series of smaller bids, but that they have now 'moved the goalposts' and said he's not for sale at any price...

You've obviously never been to Scunny. It'd take more than that!

If he has as good a season this season as last, he'll end up commanding more than that from bigger clubs.

He wouldn't have to live there would he.

100k in his bank, doubled wages, higher league.

You'd have to be off your tits to turn that down.

Rob Hulse once turned down double wages at Stoke to get us promoted and then ended up basically quadrupling his wages to play for West Brom 12 months later...

Well worth the risk imo. One good season in the Football League and he'll be setting his sights higher than Scunthorpe...

...or Lincoln just doubled his wages? Never stood out at Braintree whenever I saw them in 15/16. Had a decent match in the playoff semis at BP, perhaps? We'll see if he can step up, but I suspect it might be a case of the Lincoln rabble over egging another one of their world beaters.

England C captain, our player of the year and player of the NL last season, am sure he can make the step up to League Two. He will move on to bigger and better than us, and definitely better than the Scunts.

You mean those same Scunts that were in the League 1 play offs last season?

Whether we like them or not it can't be denied that they have a cracking side.

Best bit of news yet what a player. Exciting times down the bank. Something tells me this momentum ball is just going to keep rolling...

Imagine if Amond signed now as well :fl:
Cods would go into total meltdown. What a boring summer they're having no wonder they've only shifted 300 season tickets

Unsurprisingly touchy from you two
All I'm saying is, I personally never saw him play that well the season before last. And yeah, I'd have Amond here now because our striking options are somewhat limited. However, he is another one who would at best do alright to fairly good, like Matt Green. Better players about. We probably won't sign any, though.

More like 65k after tax

Noble transfer request in 5... 4... 3...

It's all got a shade of the Mcloed saga about it. Just hope it works out better than the 100k wasted there

We've signed Rene Gilmartin to be a back up goalkeeper and goalkeeping coach.

Woodyard is an absolute Rolls Royce of a player. If you just watch the odd game of him you'd be forgiven for thinking he's a very average midfielder who doesn't actually do much. He's not the all-action type who's going to fly into tackles and get you goals.

But he does the simple things effortlessly well. He's got the engine of a Kante which is key to the way Cowley wants us to press and harry the opposition all over the pitch. It's a horrible cliche but you don't even notice half of the stuff he does until he's not in the side. He's absolutely vital to the way we're set up and he's by far and away our most important player. Keeping hold of him (for now) is arguably more significant than Raggett, who should be easier to replace.

Yep, fully agree. I said pretty much the same back in February. Woodyard didn't really get a mention from opposition fans in games last season but ended up sweeping Club and National League Awards (again).

His passing is sometimes a bit ropey, but you can forgive him that!

Woodyard's a bit like Habergham to a point in that if you saw him in one-off games, you'd not really batter an eye-lid too much because he's not a flair player or does anything spectacular, but over a period of games you realise just how good he is at this level. I dread to think what Woodyard's interception and tackle rates are. Bit of a lower league Kante.

He's absolutely perfect for a Cowley side.

I've got to say, other fans' reactions to our squad/signings/management are hilariously familiar. Just like last year, just like Ipswich, and Brighton, and Burnley. I'm quietly confident (despite my occasionally outlandish posts) that we can challenge at the right end of the table. The Cowleys inherited several players last year that other teams' supporters said weren't good enough for promotion; Hawkridge, Wood, Waterfall, Power, Rhead. We're being told the same about a lot of our players on here this season. We'll see.

Lump on Lincoln.
I did at 16s in August last year and get a tidy sum back for my modest stake. Unfortunately the odds aren't so friendly now the bookies have woken up.

Juts checked and you can get us at 14s with Coral. Might be tempted to stick a few quid on again...

We had the Non-League Yaya a few seasons ago and now we have THE LEAGUE TWO KANTE. Looking forward to seeing him in action. He'll be up against our two best outfield players quite a bit in our games, I'd imagine.
