Apparently we've releases Liam Noble.

He's your captain isn't he?

That would be a strange decision, he'd only be able to go to non league before January.

Breach of contract. I've heard he faked his injury so he could go to a wedding but that's all I've heard, saying no more.

Really? Surely now he's a free agent he can sign with anyone?

Noble's a decent enough player for League 2, but when things aren't going well be doesn't have the temperament to grit things out. Instead he kicks out, gets sent off or if this is true blags an injury just so he can go out on a jolly.
He did the same to us, just booted a Carlisle player absolutely in full glare of everyone to get sent off on purpose because he had had enough that day.
Last time he played for us and Cooper sent him back up North to keep him away from the club, then signed him after recommending we release him.
What goes around comes around it would seem.

Wycombe have signed free agent Yves Ma-Kalambay a 6'6'' goalkeeper who has experience with Chelsea and Hibs until January 29th. We had to do something as our goalkeeping coach is 49 and if Scott Brown got injured he'd have to play whatever time was left.

The way he was going on on Saturday he seems to have this magic ability to recover from injuries! Don't think he's needing a replacement seeing as he can regenerate his health so quickly.

We're safe when it comes to having a keeper then. ;)

God that's a blast from the past. When I lived in Edinburgh I watched Hearts a fair amount and Hibs had a collection of keepers that would make big errors in the Edinburgh derbies. This fella was no exception. His nickname was Ma-Kalamity.

Well he will only be playing in an emergency, has to be a better option than having to play our 49 year old goalkeeping coach Barry Richardson should ScottBrown have to come off injured.

Well, well, well... Liam Noble is to re-join us on January 1 on an 18-month deal. To be a fly on Dale Vince's wall right now...

If Nolan can “calm” him down he could be a very good player. It’s a real gamble though so we will have to see. If you look at our midfield though we already have decent cover there so that’s another gamble in itself.

I'm assuming FGR didn't know he was going to sign for County, otherwise surely they'd have been better off agreeing something now and then leaving him out of the squads?

I know there are his wages, too, but I imagine something could have been worked out there.

Seems a bit underhand by Noble/County on the face of it.

Hahaha, Vince has been absolutely done here.

Happy with it on a free, £100k was madness but we don't have a player like him at all. We've got good options in central midfield and he won't walk into the team or be guaranteed a place, which will hopefully keep him focused.

Wonder if he'll be playing for Ilkeston until January? He'll take the piss out of that level obviously but would keep him fit.

What about Alfreton? Or can he only join teams lower than the 6th tier, or something?

I think it might be below Conference North, but I'm not totally sure. Hardy owns Ilkeston as well but they're currently so low down that it'd be kind of pointless sending him there.

Not sure on this one. I think its a big risk... He's not exactly known for being a good lad in the dressing room

What an absolute joke. Notts and Noble have stitched us up royally. They're welcome to him.

Don't tell me you didn't see this coming!

Dale Vince is looking a right prick!

Don't know. Didn't really think about it too much tbh.

Surprised we let him go for nothing only for him to sign for them straight away though. That makes us look like proper idiots.

I don't think Vince comes off like a prick here. All you've done is try to keep hold of one of your best players, at the end of the day. A lot of you wanted him to stay when it was being discussed in pre-season. Unfortunately, if a player like Noble decides he's had enough at one club he'll inevitably manage to wriggle out of his contract. Would have been better for you if he'd have pushed harder for this deal in the summer and netted you some cash, but I don't think you can lay the blame solely at DV's door with this one.

From what I've heard, we've seen an opportunity and gone for it when they ripped up his contract, rather than Noble pushing for his release to come here.

Wonder what went off to cause it all.

There are two versions of the tale.

1. Noble allegedly stormed out after being dropped.
2. He allegedly feigned injury to miss a match in favour of a night out.

The first one sounds a lot more like him, to be honest.

He's going to have to grow up a lot to make a success of it here. He'll start as fourth choice, for one, and Nolan regularly rotates his team.

I can see both sides of it. On the one hand, our amazing start has been built on work ethic and professionalism as much as anything else, and Noble could easily upset that.

On the other, our obvious weakness is a lack of maverick, game changing players to make a difference in matches like our one against you guys last weekend. Nolan also played his position in the Premier League for a decade, so might be someone he'll listen to and be willing to learn from.

Noble isn't a character that I'd ever want to rely on, but having a good central midfield already there makes me think the risk is probably worth it.
