Not at all impressed with Noble the man. He is, or was when he was with us last a regular scoring midfielder and they are quite a rare commodity.
If he manages to get his head down it could go well for him personally, but people have long memories and he'll find himself friendless if he doesn't make a success of it here and looking for another club in eighteen months time.
FGR can feel very hard done to, but have also shown a naivety by allowing his contract to be ripped up rather than making his life miserable until the window and at least getting some money for him.
Noble is not wholly welcome back with us, there are plenty who wouldn't touch him with a barge pole and I hope our contract with him has a few safety clauses built in.

I reckon they did the maths and said ****-it let him go. He came back in pre-season from 7 weeks straight of boozing - fat and disinterested in playing for us. We were offered £100k from Notts, he's on at least £100k wages. If we left him out of the team for 3months and sold him in Jan I doubt we'd get more than £30k for him, with clubs knowing he wants out. Probably just thought, cut our losses and move on, so he is not a distraction.

He was a great player last year, but had been fat, slow, disinterested this season and gave the ball away more time in 10 games (often under no pressure) than he did the whole of last season. Disappointing but that's football.

Didn't want him and don't want him - burnt his bridges with us with that sending off against Cambridge.

He's a good player but the cons outweigh the pros massively. Doubt he will be a distraction off the pitch - everyone loved him the 2 seasons he was with us - it's more the stupid decisions he makes on the pitch Im worried about

Not convinced - he's a prat. A talented prat, but a prat nonetheless.

When I saw the statement from FGR about him wanting a move closer to his North East home I honestly thought (feared) that he'd end up back here.

As mentioned above he has some good attributes, but he's a liability and the negatives far outweigh the positives.

This could mean however that we could already know that Grant may be recalled in January.

We offered 100k for him before we'd even signed Grant - don't think the two are related.

We've re-signed Steven Rigg after Curle released him a year or two back, been at Queen of the South since but has had injury troubles.

We must have one of the worst front lines in this league.

It seems that Liam Noble is on a level with Richard Brodie when it comes to being a c*** then.

Both of them being only slightly behind Lee Hughes.

I'd say THE worst.

That said, as much as Rigg wasn't good enough a year and a bit ago when we released him, I think he's an upgrade on Bennett. Different type of player I know, but all the things Bennett is supposed to do as a target man, he doesn't do. At least Rigg will give defenders a restless afternoon and will score the tap ins that Bennett seems incapable of putting in.

It shows how far we've dropped in quality that we're resorting to this type of signing.

Unsurprisingly, Slade has said that we'll be activating the additional year on Dembele's contract.

The first one sounds a lot more like him, to be honest.

He's going to have to grow up a lot to make a success of it here. He'll start as fourth choice, for one, and Nolan regularly rotates his team.

I can see both sides of it. On the one hand, our amazing start has been built on work ethic and professionalism as much as anything else, and Noble could easily upset that.

On the other, our obvious weakness is a lack of maverick, game changing players to make a difference in matches like our one against you guys last weekend. Nolan also played his position in the Premier League for a decade, so might be someone he'll listen to and be willing to learn from.

Noble isn't a character that I'd ever want to rely on, but having a good central midfield already there makes me think the risk is probably worth it.
Yep, not a bad tactic. I remember in 05/06 we did a similar thing by bringing Curtis Woodhouse in the Jan window. Wasn't necessarily the type of player you want starting every match but definitely had his uses and gave us something that the other CMs couldn't. If I remember rightly, he set up Gary Jones' playoff semi tie winning header too.

Neil Eardley is close to triggering his appearance clause. Initially on a deal until January because of his previous fitness issues but he seems to be over them and when it happens he'll get a deal until the end of the season.

We don't half like resigning players, I'm surprised we haven't resigned Derek Asamoah, we can't surely go a whole season without bringing Degsy (he hates being called that) in. Has anyone checked if Nacho Novo is still available? What about Sam Byrne, he must be up to something.

I figure though the logic behind Rigg is that he has no club, we're happy for him to train with us, we might not be able to put out a full bench for a couple of games, so better having him on the bench than nobody.

Gillingham in for the Cowleys, I'm hearing.

I suppose Gillingham are a much bigger club. Lincoln shouldn't stand in their way.
Come on guys get real, when would a team that's just been promoted from the National League allow their manager to be poached by a team smack bang in the relegation zone in League 1, in mid October?

When would that ever happen...........?

A move back down South might appeal to the Cowleys if their families are all down there.
It's a fair old commute from Essex to Lincoln and it's easier to stay up than get promoted to League 1.

To be fair, there's probably a lot more to Lincoln than the Cowley's.

We’ve sent Akwasi Asante back to Solihull for match fitness and brought in Reece Hall-Johnson from Braintree.

I presume you can't play him until January, so will be going out on loan - either back to Braintree or to somewhere lower down the pyramid?

Edit: I see Braintree released him, presumably before the window closed,in which case he can play immediately.

I don’t really know. Nothing on the website has been said about it but I’m guessing we’ve found some loophole with it- nothing surprises me anymore with this club though.
