We're after Graham Burke who was released by Villa today. Obviously had him on loan and he scored the goal that should have kept us up - he was ok, can't say it's a signing that would convince me that's the left winger position sorted but he showed the odd glimpse and he's young and confident enough to potentially be a decent player and would be an asset...especially at this level.

I thought you lot were going to go for Darren Bent.

Sammy Moore is an ok holding midfielder. He is really a conference player punting above his level. Amazed orient have picked him up. Nice guy though. Not a player you will find in a promotion side.

Rate Burke, decent player. He just lacks pace which is exactly what we desperately need, and have needed for 2 seasons. It's amazing something so simple escapes the club's leadership

Well I am taking a completely different approach to Mansfield fans at the moment who seem to be setting themselves up for a bit of a disappointment. I won't be making any serious comment about our season until it starts; some good signings so far, and Michael Raynes too, but who knows what'll happen.

The general feeling is hoping to achieve a mid-table finish, not quite sure what approach you are on about. Although personally I think another long season is on the cards.

Beardsley doesn't score, Yusuff could easily be another Ollie Palmer and Green hasn't played much football. And then what about the other ones? On paper I can see why these might be perceived as poor signings and why we might look an attractive bet for the drop.

Exactly, not to mention a inexperienced manager who let's face it come across poor tactically so far.

Going to be a lot of pressure on Green for goals unless Adi Yussuf is a gem.

In most cases if a player has pace at this level their all round game is likely to be pretty shite. David Amoo is the prime example for us and the reason I no longer look for pace in players. You can try him if you want but he rarely gets back and rarely had any end product this season.

Not talking about all of you, but I get the feeling some of your fans think that Murray will bring passing football with the potential of play-offs and that at worst you'll finish mid-table. Personally I think the 4 or 5 above the relegation zone from last season will do well to have an average season, we were all truly dire. Play-offs would be extremely impressive for any of us.

Passing football and generally a better entertainment value is a given though.

It's unlikely but anything is possible, just look at Wycombe this season!! It would not suprise me to see at least one relegation candidate from last season sneak into the play-offs.

To be honest it would surprise me a lot. In general it seems normal for one relegation candidate to do well, but after last season where we were all so horrifically bad I just can't see it. I'd like it to happen though, regardless of whether or not it's us, because we all suffered quite a bit last year.

Let's face it now so we can come to terms with it.

It's got to be Hartlepool, Ron and Rakish is a deadly duo.

He's not fast but I wouldn't say he lacked pace, he's quite quick and agile too for a young winger who's probably not far off 6 foot. His decision-making is an issue but he's got enough attributes to be a good lower league winger - it's a shame him and Williams came in so late as I think they're both prime examples of players who would benefit from plenty of playing time in L1/L2.

I'd be happy enough if he signed but that would be providing another option came in too (Banton?), equally I'd hardly be devastated if he ended up elsewhere.

As Conker also states, I would be very happy with some attacking and entertaining football rather than the shite served up over the last few years - as long as it doesn't relegate us!

Any right minded and realistic Stags fan would be happy with more entertainment, some actual football and a finish anywhere around 16th as progress.

You can't call that a success but progress is a key word this season. All that said right minded and realistic are not terms often linked to our fans very often.

I know Murray is talking about promotion and who can blame him. Anyone is capable of doing it in this league if you do well in the Summer. I think like mtfc26 has said though the majority of us will just take an improvement in style and a higher finish. Personally I think we will be 12th-15th. It would be nice to push for the Play offs, Depends who else we bring in.

I think the league as a whole will be quite a bit stronger next season. Seems like the bottom teams have made some good signings and the top teams have made even better ones so it will certainly be interesting. Curle has also said he's going for promotion but that's just sort of because he looks like a mug if he doesn't say that.

Lewis Alessandra to Rochdale then, bit of a bad week for Plymouth seeing as Andy Awford is also running for the job.

Just thought I'd mention when we played at Plymouth on the Sky match last year Awford picked his son Nick to start for us in midfield purely because it was on telly. I said at the time it was a farcial decision and I stand by that.

I only say this because Nick Awford has now joined Farnborough on a permy.

And I suppose if everyone else is talking about Mansfield then I might aswell chip in too, I watched most of the film Moneyball today and it kinda reminds me of their situation a little bit. I don't think they'll go down but I can't see anything past 17-18th.

Also can't believe I almost posted without talking about Bingham, in the one match I've ever seen him play he looked a threat but he was playing alongside Matt Rhead.

That's why he only looked like a threat and not fucking lethal, even messi would look weak playing alongside matt rhead.....

But then again, Bingham would look weaker than he actually is even next to Messi. There is no perfect partnership for him because everyone else is so low, so unskilled, by comparison to the messiah.

Until we uncover the mystery of how Bingham came to be - and scientific testing is currently at an advanced stage in this area - we will never truly have the perfect partnership because only a man with Bingham's physique, vision, accuracy and hairstyle can be considered perfect.

Once we find such a person we would also have to ensure that they too are taken under the wing of the resident homeless man Ronnie Moore so that he can show him the seldom walked pathway to glory.

Bingham cloning is currently being heavily bankrolled by a 'mystery billionaire' to try and speed up the process, the fear being that Ronnie Moore only has a few years left until he fully loses his mind and starts staring deeply into the distance and murmuring about Vietnam and the time he won the World Cup with Tranmere.

Mansfield have wasted no time making shit loads of moves! Some look good, some not. Green is an interesting one. You can't blame Mansfield fans prematurely ejaculating over it as he was a star man for them who fired them into the FL, and he's still the right side of 30. You can't ignore the fact that the non-league to FL jump is often hardest for strikers though, and he's only scored 1 league goal ever. That coupled with his near-career ending injury and likely high wages, it's also easy to imagine a situation where it's a train wreck. Still, if he's still quick, which evidently he is, and is composed in front of goal there's no reason why he won't be able to find the net on occasion. I can't see him getting 15-20+ goals as Mansfield seem to be expecting though, unless he gets a couple of early goals and off to a flyer.

Needless to say, I hope it resembles an M1 pile-up! I hope for their sake that Murray puts an end to the negative dross they've been serving up now he's had a proper pre-season to sort things.

Often yes, but not always. Certainly wasn't for Andre Gray after scoring 18 Championship goals this season. A player Mansfield fans always said Matt Green was better than...

Tom Miller is an interesting one. In the 30-odd games he played for us he was nothing more than a competent Conference-standard defender. The most memorable thing about him was his long throw and the online death threats he received from South Korea when he broke Lee Chung-Yong's leg in a friendly we played against Bolton. We had to close down the club site and messageboard due to a tsunami of online hatred. It was pretty nasty.

He must have improved a hell of a lot with Lincoln. I remember him returning to the field after a particularly dismal performance against Bath City. Justin Edinburgh had clearly had a massive go at him in the dressing room and good old Danny Potter had his arm round him and was obviously giving him a bit of encouragement. He was just as poor in the second half and never played for us again.

Solid, uninspiring but definitely not League material for us ... must be the coaching staff at Lincoln

Also our local rag have posted that we are making an 'audacious swoop' for Danny Gabbidon (released by Cardiff) and Alan Tate (finally let go by Swansea). If we could afford their wages they would be decent and Gabbidon has said he would be prepared to drop down the leagues to continue playing football although he is about 107 and his injury record isn't brilliant. Tate would be excellent, he wants to stay in South Wales because of family reasons and has been there and done that playing for Swansea in all four divisions.

Interesting concept.

A few of the Notts players that played on the final day should be fine in League Two. Just not the defenders. None of them.

Newport, York, Carlise, Hartlepool, Crawley, Accrington, Morecambe (And plymouth are looking in a bit of a mess...) Id pick any two of those.

I'd even put Yeovil into that list aswell.

Personally, I don't think we'll be anywhere near relegation next season, but it all depends on the players Curle brings in. The prime reason we were down the bottom all season was because of Kavanagh's terrible management, and most of the players he brought in were useless. I have much more faith in Curle to put together a solid squad, and aim for at least midtable.
