Says he's an attacking midfielder but I think he's better upfront.

We have a slow ageing goal shy midfield and have been crying out for a goal scoring energetic midfielder. We might actually be able to have energy rather than Tonge and Kay limping on their zimos

Looks like Khan has opted to stay for now after speaking with a couple of clubs, one of which seems to have been Bristol Rovers.

Jones confirms that we are looking to bring in Lloyd Jones from Liverpool. He doesn't sound overly enthusiastic about it though I must say:

“Hopefully we can get one through and if that’s Lloyd Jones then fine" is his quote in the story! Not exactly sounding keen there.

Ha! Doesn't exactly sound too good for the current crop of centre halves with comments like that does it? Personally would keep Sheehan and Cuthbert but look to get two new ones in unless we think Famewo will be ready next season, doesnt look like he will be currently though. Mullins has done okay but if we are to step up to the next level we need to improve options there.

I’m assuming he doesn’t particularly rate either Famewo or Musonda to be honest, Musonda in particular and with Mullins getting on a bit we do need to inject some youth in there. The lack of pace in that area got exposed a bit last night so hope he’s got a bit about him.

Probably too late now but would still have liked to have seen another defensive midfield player come in.

Possibly as many as 6 bits of transfer news for us today - 4 in and 2 out. Outgoings are dependent on incomings, one of the former is Arnold according to DC last night who's having a think about a move. Possibly Howe is the other one, or the young lad Chapman going out on loan. There's not really a lot else we do with 'outs'!

Cameron Stewart has signed a contract extension until the end of the season. Comes across to me that as a 4th choice winger, Stewart is preferred to Arnold on a financial basis to free up wages elsewhere in the squad (striker). I'd personally prefer Arnold as cover over Stewart but if those savings help us get that player in then fair enough.

Reading between the lines, it seems we're pretty much there with two signings.

It seems midfielder Tom Pett from Stevenage is one of the players we're due to sign today.

Not odd as we don't really need any more midfielders. I know nothing about him.

Evans has said we will be looking at signing 1, if not 2 today.

Rumours on our forum, and at Burtons end we might be in for Marvin Sordell.

We are announcing someone in the next hour. Hopefully neither of Sordell or Ricky Miller.

Louis Dodds linked with a move to Chesterfield, would be a decent signing in their predicament.

Very much so, as CJ has the tendency to blow either very hot or cold, though obviously has lots of potential.

Surely Sterling-James can cover that position? Think he’s got bags of potential.

I’m suprised Evans has gone for youthful players, hopefully it goes well for the both of them.

Another signing expected later.

Nathan Arnold has been too as well as our fishy friends up the A46 to be their saviour, poor bloke!

Looks like Sam Cosgrove is joining Aberdeen. Only broke into the team in the last month and hasn't been brilliant, but he's been our most threatening forward recently, despite only scoring 1 goal.

Oddest transfer rumour of the day, Sam Cosgrove to Aberdeen for 40k

Only a few weeks ago it was expected he'd be released when his short term contract came to an end, however he must have been showing potential in training and our other strikers didn't look dangerous enough so just a few days before the end of that contract he was thrown into the first team for his first senior start, having only previously made a few appearances off the bench.

He played very well and kept his place in the first team, having a couple of goals disallowed before finally hitting the net against Crewe, his first ever senior goal, he also picked up a couple of MoM awards and gave the fans someone to be a little bit excited about. He was rewarded with a new contract and we're all expecting him to continue to play a big part for us.

Now Aberdeen have made an approach for him, they claim it's a done deal, we're only confirming the approach was made but denying anything further. Aberdeen fans are less than impressed because they're only seeing that they're paying real money for a player who has only scored one goal in his career, and at first glance his stats look like those you'd expect from a cast-off. Carlisle fans aren't happy either with the prospect of a promising player being sold only a few games into his career.

Honestly I think it would be foolish to sell him given how much we've struggled up front this season, and just after letting Shaun Miller go. We need to hang on to anyone who presents a goal threat if we've any hope of climbing up the table in the second half of the season. 40k isn't much, given his age means even if he went out of contract in the summer we'd get a fee set by tribunal, I know we're struggling for money but it's not like we've time to go out and use that 40k for anything this window, and even if Cosgrove only wins us a few games, that's a few places up the table which will bring prize money to offsett us letting him go.

However at the same time I can still see our board going loopy at the idea of someone offering to pay us money for a player who hasn't featured much this season and biting Aberdeen's hands off at the offer. Doesn't sound as though the situation at Aberdeen is a good one for a player to be wading into, with their fans slagging him off even before he signs and slagging the manager off for signing him. Surely staying at Carlisle will be the best option for him, for Carlisle, and for Aberdeen, but who the fuck knows any more?

See, i'm not fussed by Stirling-James at all, and don't think he's upto standard for a top 7 side - but that's me.

I'm hoping the other player (if it happens) is a little more mature age wise

Having a left footed winger adds much more balance to our midfield. Hence why Hamilton has been pretty much a mainstay in the side since October time.

He’s hardly been given a chance and has been a right handful when he’s had a few minutes.

Against County was probably his best performance.

Nothing other than a few whispers but I suspect we'll want it to happen. We need another ST option and he knows what we're about so won't take any bedding in.
