Confirmation we've received an initial £1.3mill fee for Ampadu moving to Chelsea, with the possibility of an additional £1.25mill (£250k for each 10 appearances up until 50 games). There is also a 20% sell on clause should he be sold by Chelsea.

Quite disappointed really. Really feel like after producing a very talented player who is rated so highly, to not even break our transfer record is a bit gutting. Feel we deserved to as well.

Club are understandably disappointed by this outcome and have said:

"Whilst the club recognise, that the compensation fee is not a transfer fee, but instead to reward the club for its investment in the training and development of a proven outstanding player, and that the tribunal has awarded Exeter significant contingent sums, to say that we are disappointed is an understatement. We are disappointed for our fans, our academy, which works so hard on producing talented young players like Ethan and for our management and coaching team who bring these players into the first team and beyond as part of supporting the work of the FA in its objective to produce international players of the highest quality which we believe we have done.

“However, above all, we are disappointed for football as we feel this decision sends the wrong message in terms of financial reward for those owners, chairmen, managers and coaches up and down the country who are also working as hard as us to improve their clubs by producing talented home-grown players for both club and country.

“At this stage, we have no written justification for the decision taken by the Professional Football Compensation Committee. We have been told that this will come within the next couple of weeks and once we receive this we will be communicating that to our supporters.”

It's frustrating more than anything.

Is there any sort of appeal process? Or tribunal is as far as it'll go?

Obviously the club wanted much more, but I’m in two minds about this. I am pretty confident we will see a fair chunk if not all of the add ons plus if he gets sold in the future, in today’s market we should be laughing.

It’s 20% if anything over £2.5M though so hopefully he will realise his potential and get sold for huge money in 3-5 years.

So since the summer we’ve netted £1.8M for Watkins, £600k for Wheeler and now a bare minimum of £1.3M for Ampadu. The club is in a good place, so if we can get up to L1 I’d like to think we’d have the investment to actually stay there for a prolonged period. I’m also pretty confident of bringing in more big money in the next couple of years with the like of Storey and Stockley being two big assets.

There you go. Sounds a bit like us. We've sold countless kids and a few young up and comers that produced loads of add on when sold like Andre Gray and there will be similar with the following where we sold Marriott, McGeehan and Isaac Vassell. Money in bank and are now probably stronger with their replacements with a great chance of more money ey later to drip feed us as we hopefully progress

Quite depressing always reading about Luton, Exeter etc. making large sums of money from their young players whilst we’ve got a squad of journeymen and no highly rated youngsters coming through. I’m jealous of these clubs, we’re just stalling on and off the pitch and the plan seems to be surviving, and there isn’t a plan b.

And really, Exeter deserve to get there now based on the last two seasons.

Part of the problem seems to be that infernal development squad idea. This season consists of Egan, Holt, Salkeld and Bacon, and I've heard Nabi described as being part of it too even though he didn't come through our youth system. I've heard it criticised and I think the problem is that the players in it are stuck in limbo, no longer part of the youth team while also not really in consideration for the first team. Just end up being packed off to places like Annan and Workington on loan. All just seems a bit half-hearted and there's no buzz around our youth team activities at all, even though I keep reading glowing reports from Edmo on their latest performance.

Midfielder Matt Bloomfield has signed a 2 year contract extension taking him up gto 16 years of playing for us,if was just for playing i'd have given him a year but it seems he's being lined up as a potential manager when he retires and if Ainsworth leaves.

Notice the backtracking from a lot of stags fans over the summer? I remember when they were laughing at us saying we'd struggle to put a side out come first game of the season... Now after our shrewd business in the market, with Caldwell putting together a team with all the makings of one that looks like it could challenge, I've barely heard a peep from that side of the M1... Bless em, forever in the shadow

Dale Bennett has been released from his contract, a matter of weeks before it was due to end, and has now left the club.

Allegedly Colchester are interested in Harry Pell.

He hasn't really performed with us this season after the Blackpool stuff back in August, but he's still likely to cost them a fee of some sort. Be interesting to see if we do let him go - it'll be a shame as he's the last of our promotion team still playing at the club (once Wright is released at the season's end).

If I recall we were in for him at the time of the Blackpool saga as well. JP is usually spot on with his reports too so don't have reason to doubt him.

The Cowleys signing new deals later today apparently.

Talks been on-going for a couple of months. A Director was on Radio Lincs 'Friday Football' show a couple of weeks back and basically said he wasn't worried about them leaving at the minute and that hopefully they'd be some news soon on contract extensions. So it seems as though it's all fallen into place as he said it would.

This'll be the third deal they've signed in just under two years. Current 5-year deal runs until 2021, so if they do sign extensions, I'm guessing it'll be another 5 years through to 2023.

Gutted. Club legend. Talk of him getting a testimonial. Hopefully that can happen. He deserves one.

Top bloke is JP. He's confirmed on our forum that a formal approach has been made, so we'll see.

Cowleys sign a new deal to keep them here until 2022, Bostwick signs a new deal to 2020.

And not contractual but we've revealed the location of our new training ground, which should be ready for preseason.

Apparently Leon legge is joining the chavs, disappointing if true but I’m not surprised, he’s hardly played recently and is supposed to be on a few £, plus with our obvious budget cuts next season it makes sense, will miss him though, proper CB!

So that's Akinfenwa, Tyson and CMS all signed on for next season? And I thought our forward line was old!
