Sad to see Enzio Boldewijn leave and I hope he does ok for Notts County. Genuine good player who I hope does better than the last player you signed from us.

Just one caveat. As he is quite good in the air and has a decent shot on him 101 games for Crawley and 16 goals is something he will need to improve on.

We were very lucky after the Munto fraud to survive.
Turnovers were up last year and we have released our high earners apart from Stead but we are clearly spending more than we're earning so Hardy is either gifting us money or we're heading into some debt.
Most clubs do it, most chairmen run out of money then sell up and a few years from now I'm sure we'll be scrabbling around again.
So will Mansfield, Lincoln and everyone else, it's the football wheel of life isn't it?

Our tiki-taka/play it out from the back, push the full backs high approach needs a solid no. 6 to knit everything together and keep things ticking over in midfield. We don't have anyone else like that in the squad, the rest are fairly lightweight playmakers or wingers so James could be a key player in our system.

Be a miracle if he knits everything together. Has the odd good game, but most of the time he is either invisible or highly visible for really bad passing. And I'm not a biased City fan, I only lived 4 miles from FGR when in the UK and have a soft spot for them

Mansfield spent an obscene amount getting out of the Conference, third only to Crawley and Fleetwood during our time down there. They might have tightened the purse strings for a year or so upon getting promoted but them splashing the cash under Radford is nothing new. Last season included, when they spent the second most in the division.

23yr old Left back we signed from Cork, sent him out on loan to Fleetwood last season and he struggled to cement a place. Might be able to establish himself more in League Two, personally I think there is a bit of potential there.

He won €1m in the lottery last season so I don't think he was 100% focused on football.

Stuart Moore has rejected his contract offer and has left. Luke McCormick ex prison and Plymouth is on trial (not for the first time, boom boom) and played 45 minutes last night in a pre-season win (more news on that on the relevant thread).

We also have Shamir Mullings on trial. Massive lad who Forest Green Rovers sacked, so we really are looking at players with a good pedigree! He also scored last night.

Wild rumour on our forum that Jayden Stockley was watching the game last night, but I am taking that with a massive sack of salt after the comment that they saw Simon Cox's Range Rover in the County Ground car park when in fact he was abroad! (It could have been stolen I guess)

Expecting a further 3 signings hopefully soon, no idea of names just now although I suspect we'll sign some of the trialists to cut costs, hopefully Max Oldham is one of them (he also scored last night)

Potentially could be the case. Forest made a loss last year but because of some accountancy stuff, they managed to make a profit of £30 million somehow by writing off debt.

He's a 7 in 10 sort of player. He can appear lethargic sometimes, is decptively quick imo, and he's a really nice bloke and will always try his hardest.

Sad to see him go.

Given how much money we now make off the field which supplements our "crap crowds* (yawns) at least we're in a much better position than we were off the field. One thing that JR could really look at doing is trying to increase the away capacity to bring in some more money. As a club we're certainly moving in the right direction - all you've got to do is look at Chesterfield across the road to see what happens when you've a dodgy owner. Thankfully we have probably the best chairman in the league

I don’t mean in money spent terms - more in expectation terms. I would imagine all 3 expect to get promoted. There’s going to be some fallout somewhere.

I'd expect Lincoln to finish above both us and county this year, they've got the experience of what's needed this year now and will have expectations. Also, as Impish says on a daily basis, we've only "small crowds" so how could we even compete when we can't con 6,000 fake fans to supplment the 1,500 or so die hards

And quite happy with those crowds too, long as we keep progressing on and off the field in the manner we are, all is good. As Accrington proved, and some sides in league 1 show, attendances mean absolutely nothing or very little at best....
