One of the stranger transfer stories of the summer. Cole Stockton's contract has been terminated by mutual consent, allowing him to join Tranmere.

We have a very thin squad, Stockton only joined us in January and did pretty much nothing last season but you always wonder with January signings, especially when they've not had much action in the first half of the season if they'll be a different player after a summer. That said it sounds like he was on a high salary for a player unlikely to make the first team and HG will no doubt be delighted he's gone.

Then we've brought in Adam Campbell on loan from Morecambe. Since it would be fair to say anyone finishing below Morecambe is highly likely to be relegated, taking their castoffs is downright bizarre, however there possible is a little more to it than that, as he has played under Sheridan before at Notts County and had a decent record in that spell, so Sheridan clearly sees him as a player who he should sign if available.

He actually made his professional debut playing for us, back when we were relegation-bound in League One on loan from Newcastle, came on as a late sub in a game we lost 4-0 to Bradford and was then sent straight back to Newcastle. Some fans feel they can pass judgement on him from their vague recollection of this game. I do hope this turns out to be a shrewd move though.
I am actually pleased we have brought Stockton back. It does not surprise me that he did not impress at Carlisle, but I am not sure his spell there will have much bearing on how he performs for us.

He is very much a confidence player who needs to be under the right manager, and he was excellent under Mellon in his first spell here, averaging about a goal every two games and keeping Andy Cook out of the side. Whether he can repeat that kind of form a division higher I don't know, but I would expect him to have a decent season.

I've a lot of time for Adam Campbell, he's a good footballer who just can't physically compete against bigger stronger men. He's genuinely tiny for a pro footballer , he gets run down because of his stride pattern and is of little use at set pieces. It's a genuine shame for the bloke because if he was five inches taller he'd be playing quite a bit higher than Div 2. As it is he looks a Conference player to me and ended last season on the bench at Morecambe.
Hope Sheridan can get the best out of him.

We've signed two youngsters to finish our business for the summer.

David Sesay; left back. Released from Watford's academy.
Tarryn Allarakhia; winger. Was at Colchester academy then New Malden and Tiptree.

I think they are both there to help with numbers during training more than anything else but we were very light at left back so Sesay could get some games.

Mixed feelings. I feel there is a decent player there but just don’t think it was ever going to work out at Carlisle and he’d always underperform for us so probably for the best he’s moved on.

That said, I have more faith in him than I do Bennett. The guy is a donkey, with the worst first touch I’ve seen from a professional footballer.

I hope Sheridan has a new striker lined up because the thought of another season of watching Richie Bennett attempting to impersonate a footballer is daunting.

So Flitcroft has told Danny Rose not to set foot in Field Mill again.
Peterborough have offered £300k but Stags want £400k as they have to give Bury £100k.

A few signings for us ahead of the Bury game, Yoann Arquin and winger Wes McDonald on 6 month contracts, and midfielder Alex Pattison on a season long loan from Middlesbrough. Wouldn't think any are starters but it makes the squad numbers look a bit healthier.

Bit of transfer business for us in the last couple of days.

Brian Graham has returned to Scotland, signing for Ross County on a free transfer. Not at all surprising - whilst he's clearly got the ability to be a decent League 2 forward, his injury record was atrocious and he fell out of Johnson's plans.

Replacing him will be Kalvin Lumbombo Kalala, whose deal was finally confirmed yesterday. He's only on a short-term deal, but I have no doubt that if he progresses well in the next few weeks then that will be lengthened.

We've also continued our record of taking on Bristol City youngsters by signing Aden Baldwin on loan. He's apparently a right-back who can also play centre-back - I have no doubt right-back is where he will be utilised.

Still talk of the mystery National League forward to be signed in the next couple of days.

We've signed Malachi Napa, young winger/forward, on loan from Oxford. Comes with decent reviews from Oxford fans.

Ryan Sweeney on loan from Stoke if it’s not been mentioned.

He’s had two loan spells at Bristol Rovers, from what I can gather he was superb in the first but below-par in the second, but he should be a good signing at this level.

It seemed like two different Ryan Sweeny's. But there is a player in there.

I don't think it's been mentioned, but we signed Stuart Moore the other day.

Bit of a strange one considering we need players at the other end of the pitch more and I don't think we need 3 goalkeepers, but he's in.

Swindon fans, what's he like?

It’s not a excuse, the club are shambolic when it comes to the ticketing arrangement.

We don’t do ridiculously cheap deals to get in a bumper crowd then pull in 3200 fans a few weeks later either ;)

3200 fans a few weeks later? You can’t bet talking about last season our average attendances excluding the bumper crowds were fantastic for NCFC.

No mate you just bring 4000+ to Marvellous Meadow Lane and then follow it up with less than 4000 the following week at home vs Colchester.

Looking at your stadium capacity and average attendance, a few £10 games wouldn’t go a miss at Field Mill

Oh look, another thread about Mansfield attendances, yawns.

The ticketing arrangement is a joke though, can’t see why they persist with it

I’m shocked at this! An excellent chairman, Who along with his fellow board member (& wife) are so interactive with fans with Q&A’s and twitter replies unable to change a ‘joker ticketing arrangement.

He’s a clever man, successful businessman, so why doesn’t he take this on board if it’s a persistent complaint from the supporters? Especially as he knows the disappointing attendances better than most.
Maybe he’s crunched the numbers and it doesn’t add up. If not that, :dk:

Right up to the league kick off this thread has been a beauty, just a bit of a lull in the middle but started strongly and ended with a real flourish.

And it’s not done yet :)

I really dislike Flitcroft as a manager but somehow I end up sticking up for him because other people who dislike him are not capable of being level minded either.

Danny Rose put in a transfer request, so he's probably not been told to turn up. That's absloutely what you would expect at this stage from most managers.

You do realise the reason behind the transfer request is that Rose cant bear Flitcroft?

Below average.

Okay shot stopper. Hope he's not your number 1.

Yeah he was ok. Didn’t make any horrendous mistakes that I recall. We offered him a contract so Franchise have to ‘compensate’ us, which is nice.

Well yeah, this is happening at the club I support? He's already got rid of him twice. What point are you trying to make?

If Danny Rose cannot put that aside, and let the crooked trio (Darragh/Fry/Evans) make him put in a transfer request then fuck him. He should have rode it out, Flitcroft probably not last long anyway!

The fact the club are looking in to 'acts designed to induce a breach of contract in order to facilitate the transfer of the player' says a lot.

Tarryn Allarakhia; winger. Was at Colchester academy then New Malden and Tiptree.

Allarakhia was with Maldon & Tiptree before last season. Our Chairman has some sort of involvement there and they're effectively like a feeder club with us - our U23s often go on loan there for men's experience and if they have anyone who might make it we seem to get first dibs on them. We have a lot of backroom staff who seem to switch around roles and the Maldon & Tiptree manager job is one of those, our assistant Steve Ball was in charge there before, whilst David Wright, Kevin Horlock and Wayne Brown have all had spells as the boss as well as taking our U18s or U23s as well.

Allarakhia never made a first team squad last season but featured regularly in the U23s side before being released at the end of the season. I know nothing about him but it is surprising to see him switch to another league side as the majority of them seem to drop down a couple of leagues when released from the U23s.

The point is that Flitcroft has driven away one of your better players and has now told him to stay away from the club. He’s a maniac.

If it was a transfer request based off of something else then Flitcroft would have more credibility by telling him to stay away, but it’s completely personal (again) to Flitcroft.

David Cotterill was training with us earlier in the week, but rumours he'll be signing with Lincoln. What a signing he would be.

Has anyone at Mansfield got any info on these rumours we’re after Lee Angol?
The figures I’ve heard for supposed transfer fee and wages make me very sceptical that we would spend that sort of cash (I’ve heard minimum 100k fee and 4K per week wages), and i’d be surprised if Fenty would spend that on one player so I expect it’s yet another bullshit rumour.

Presumably you won't be upping your bid for Danny Rowe? On the figures the Fylde chairman mentioned, he'd be well outside our price range.
