Hemmings scored one more than Rose in the league last season, but Rose scored a couple against Shaw Lane in the cup so had more in all competitions.

I’ve never quite got why Rose is so highly rated, to be honest. I know his all round play is supposed to be pretty good, but his goalscoring record is pretty average. 9 in 37 then 14 in 39 is... okay. Decent, maybe. Not what I would expect of a player being mooted for a £300k+ move.

Fair points, his all round play is good and to be fair he would have managed at least 20 last season if Evans did not leave IMO.

Thing is though, it’s the the timing of it all we need a replacement but I’m not sure the club agrees. Bury definitely have a sell on clause I’m not sure on the percentage though, that will be easy enough to find out I imagine.

But yeah Rose is a good L2 striker, not a top one ie like Hylton last season.

I don’t like Steve ‘Fatty McFatFat’ Evans, and neither do many Stags fans ever since he stabbed Lord Radford in the back, did the dirty on the club and disappeared to L1 and a better salary. Funny that lol

Couldn’t agree more with the earlier comment. Radford and Radford knew all about Evans before appointing their saviour , no use complaining when he carries on his old tricks once hes moved on.

All of this doesn’t mean anything until pen is put to paper and it becomes official that Mansfield’s best goalscorer , who wasn’t going to play much anyway, leaves or stays

I had to laugh on Twitter where there was a recording of DF talking to (I presume local press) people about the situation regarding Paul Anderson. I can't remember exactly what he was talking about but I think he was basically saying he wasn't freezing Anderson out, only for Anderson to come out and say that he was basically talking bollocks.

I would say that Mansfield fans claiming dishonesty coming from Peterborough (which to be fair is probably true) is a little churlish given their chairman and fraud of a management team. Flitcroft has more waffle than a Belgian food festival and Futcher is just a grade A bully. And don't get me started on that ghastly Radford women.

What’s so wrong with Carolyn and John Radford, what have they done to upset you?

He’s got a good touch and finish, the problem last season was that he used Danny as a target man, which anyone can guess quite easily that’s hes not there for that. The number of chances that we missed last season was criminal, rose spent more time setting things up and going against 3 defenders. Guessing we’ll be taking £350k or so and parting ways, would prefer not to sell to Peterborough though

If hemmings could finish he’d have had 30 odd last season, If you can get that out of him you’ve got a great player.

Whereas your arguments against flitcroft are probably valid, you’ll find few better chairmen etc than the radfords.

To be fair I don't know anything about John Radford barring that link that Viking Magpie posted.

My annoyance towards Carolyn Radford was her appearance on question time when she clearly stated that she voted to leave the European Union despite the fact it would put her businesses at risk. It just left a really bitter taste, possibly not helped that the Tories are making a right Rushden and Diamonds of Brexit, but that's for another discussion!

You are probably right Adam. My distaste towards Flitcroft and Futcher are probably clouding my judgement about the Radfords. #sweeping statements #jumping to conclusions.

I have nothing against Mansfield Town or their supporters but your management team can shit a load of hedgehogs for the rest of their lives as far as I am concerned :)

Anyone got any decent centre halves we can have/borrow?

As we go into the new season we have Olly Lancashire and Dion Conroy who are probably ok at this level but Conroy missed most of last season with an injury and Lancashire also suffered towards the end of last season. The backup is an 18 year old rookie (who looks decent enough to be fair, if a little wispy)

As usual we are leaving these important gaps to the very last minute!

Trust me, the jury is out on them with the vast majority of fans. A good start is required

Sell on is supposed to be 30%

That’s a large figure for a sell on, equates to around/just over £100K lost to Bury on any sale do that needs to be factored in.Regardless it’s good money for any L2 player, I can’t think the last time Notts sold a player for that sort of amount

It’s amusing that even since the initial backstabbing, Evans is now twisting it a little to cause significant disruption and possibly grab a player. He’s certainly left is mark on MTFC, with all those high earning unwanted players sat injured or frozen out. As ever Steve, your timing for this is absolutely awful.

Quick someone mention his lower league record :fish:

As for the Radfords, they’re great , done wonders for MTFC including promotion from non league football to L2, big improvements and investments in both the playing squad, and off field infrastructure. Brought in big name managers, and backed them, and plenty of exciting Transfer activity.
Oh and don’t forget the hotel deal.

I just feel sorry for John (less so his wife) , the local community just hasn’t brought into all his efforts as they should , attendances haven’t exactly matched all his efforts , still in L2 (although this is year of the Stag so that should change).

I’m sure all Stags fans can agree , after all that, he deserves better there are indeed few better

Wrong thread but attendances keep increasing year on year despite a awful ticketing arrangement, and we only have three players on the transfer list now.

It is ironic that the two players Evans will take from Mansfield (Bennett/Rose) are players that were signed by Murray and not himself.

You have to learn the hard way in real life hun.

Apparently we are after another striker. A fee has been mentioned, but no clues as to who it might be.

Its slow progress though , and not even close to representing what the Chairman has done since he took over. Disappointing return for John.

Ah yes the ‘ticketing arrangement’ excuse, much better than the old Haslam one that was used for years and years.

Agreed Conks. You’ve certainly had some hard times over the years

Wow. Apparently Tom James failed his medical at West Brom so the deal is completely off.

Not sure how I feel about this, it's £400k we really could have done with but we've kept one of our best players...however there is obviously a medical issue that we missed which must raise questions about both the player and our medical staff.

It’s not a excuse, the club are shambolic when it comes to the ticketing arrangement.

We don’t do ridiculously cheap deals to get in a bumper crowd then pull in 3200 fans a few weeks later either ;)

What a weird one, pretty poor to have missed it originally.

The chairman (now Smurthwaite again!) has said we are looking to possibly bring in two more players, forwards of which one we would be making a transfer bid for... interesting. Ideally a forward in terms of creative midfielder or winger would do!

We're now saying James failed to agree personal terms with West Brom. Hmmm.....

Oh look, another thread about Mansfield attendances, yawns.

The ticketing arrangement is a joke though, can’t see why they persist with it

Sounds like Maris to Rotherham is all but done. More gutted about this one than Luke Berry to Luton.

We signed Adam Crookes on a season long loan from Forest yesterday.

Been with us most of pre-season and can cover both RB and LB. Sounds like Habergham has some sort of bone injury in his quad that he picked up last season, so that's taking a bit of coming back from.

One of the stranger transfer stories of the summer. Cole Stockton's contract has been terminated by mutual consent, allowing him to join Tranmere.

We have a very thin squad, Stockton only joined us in January and did pretty much nothing last season but you always wonder with January signings, especially when they've not had much action in the first half of the season if they'll be a different player after a summer. That said it sounds like he was on a high salary for a player unlikely to make the first team and HG will no doubt be delighted he's gone.

Then we've brought in Adam Campbell on loan from Morecambe. Since it would be fair to say anyone finishing below Morecambe is highly likely to be relegated, taking their castoffs is downright bizarre, however there possible is a little more to it than that, as he has played under Sheridan before at Notts County and had a decent record in that spell, so Sheridan clearly sees him as a player who he should sign if available.

He actually made his professional debut playing for us, back when we were relegation-bound in League One on loan from Newcastle, came on as a late sub in a game we lost 4-0 to Bradford and was then sent straight back to Newcastle. Some fans feel they can pass judgement on him from their vague recollection of this game. I do hope this turns out to be a shrewd move though.
