The Tanned One has been banging on about these 2 for a week now.

Transfers:

“All I can do is line my ducks up, and if my ducks fall in place come Thursday then it’s all well and good. If they don’t then the loan market will have to suffice but it’s not for the want of trying.”

Hmmm. That suggests to me a cat in hell’s chance of them happening. Perhaps I’m being ultra pessimistic but I reckon loans will be where we go. Happy for Mr Suntan to prove me wrong.

It’s fake deadline day,

Paul Anderson, Calum Butcher, Lee Angol, Danny Rose all up for grabs if price is met.

Arguably 3 more weeks given it's technically a soft close of the window - loan agreements can be agreed up to 31st August and they can include permanent transfer clauses in them.

For fuck sake.

I suppose there's still less chance of anything happening after today though. Can't see us agreeing to loan out by far our best player.

Deadline day is largely irrelevant now for most clubs at this level. We rarely sign players from other clubs, almost all our transfers over the last few years were free agents and could just as well have been made outside the window. It's only really if you're worried about losing a player that it matters.

Rather then get involved in the mad rush inside the shop, most clubs in league 2 are rooting around in the bins outside after it's closed.

Peter O'Rouke is suggesting we'll bag Luque today from Heybridge Swifts. He's always been pretty on the money.

Luque used to be pretty good when he played for Deportivo and Newcastle.

Can't see any ins or outs for us today.

Be a few twitchy a**** on here though, notably Exeter and FGR fans I imagine!

Atangana linked with Vale from Cheltenham Town, midfielder.

If Carlisle United don’t sign a central defender today to improve our awful backline, i’d say relegation is an absolute certainty and wouldn’t be surprised if we were all but down by Christmas.

We need a striker as well, but I’m not expecting that. Defender is more of an issue after seeing the way we defended (or didn’t) on Saturday.

Big day for the club. It will tell a lot about how much the owners do or don’t want the club to stay in the football league.

Bury are in the nice position where we really don’t need anyone at all.

What we NEED and I mean need, is players out, at least 6 in my opinion.

Can’t see it.

What a c*** of a transfer window we have had. Palios best have something lined up. Jay Harris is never good enough to start every game (to match our ambition) and still failed to sort our front line. 5 hours to pull a rabbit out the hat.

Well I doubt anything will happen today. Any defender we do bring in will most likely be a loanee, and we still have three weeks we can do that, or a free agent we can bring in at any time.

So there's still a glimmer of hope if we don't do any business today.

Loans until end of August so plenty of time left.

Are Carlisle fans always this negative?

Giving Bury fans a run for their money. We can call it the ‘negativity derby’ when our match comes around.

Do we really need anymore midfielders? We need a wide player and a left back.

Is Unofficialpvfc so not sure his source?

Would be a strange one as we are over loaded there and hes defensive apparently, we only need wingers and maybe a creative midfielder. Joyce looks a real classy player and certainly with Oyeleke I dont see why we would need another?

It's so bad that the thought of Raynes coming back if Crewe didn't want him went through my head this morning. That's how badly I think we need a central defender.

Any fan would be negative if the season had started and they had 13 professional footballers signed up (1 is out injured until feb so that's 12 really), plus a few loans and youth players.

But yeah 13 players. THIRTEEN! Let that sink in.
