My point was that you shouldn't judge somebody on their age, which you shouldn't and the names above prove my point that you can play at a good level if you look after yourself. Because I can't be arsed looking up every player that has played at 36+ but there is plenty go look it up.

Right well my point is there’s not many decent 36+ players and they are unlike you said, a rare breed.

Jesus Christ let’s be glad the season is getting nearer! :)

Did he play under Cooper for you?
Yeah Cooper signed him. Struggled to get in ahead of Andy Williams and Michael Smith but went through spells of being unplayable as well.

Was my favourite player at the club until he went to the yellow filth and as mentioned always seems to have some sort of injury. Missed two thirds of last season with a damaged ACL.

Type "Obika injury" into Google and be amazed. I'm supposed to hate him but I loved the bloke when he was ours.

To even think that he might get picked ahead of Andy Williams was just an Impossible Dream.

Sorry, I’m bored. :bg:

Played about 30 games a season except for last one so not too bad. Didn’t score many goals though 5-10 a season is not enough 11 was his best.

We had 2 golden oldies last season - Matt Taylor and Marc Richards.

The season before both were real good, this past season both were dreadful.

That’s the problem - you don’t know what you’re getting until it’s too late. They go off very quickly.

Don’t say that about Marc please.

Bradford chucking the cash about , top three maybe but its shit or bust ,me im thinking bust ,remember i got nutts right last year
Should Oli McBurnie be sold that’ll be over £2mil coming our way, financially we’ll be fine. Just need the team to gel, something most of us are more confident about this season when you see the nonsense that went on last season.

He was a lazy shitbag this season unfortunately. Had him down for 15-20 goals and he just didn't look interested. At the start of the season it was known that he was doing some sort of coaching in Northampton so I expect he has his mind on that as much as anything and it showed in his performances. Or he just became finished over the summer which seems to happen to some players.

Our four signings so far are on the tall side:

A 6'5" keeper.

A 6'3" centre back.

A 6'1" midfielder.

A 6'3" striker.

We’re like a mediocre Lincoln.

Daivd Eyres, signed for us aged 36, played for us for 6 seasons, including scoring 16 in one season from left wing and bagged in his last pro game for us aged 42.

Peter Clarke also won our fans' player of the year the season just gone aged 37.

Not to mention the potential sale of the youth GK - Leeds want him. He’ll go for a few £100k.

We used to joke about Rico having Xmas off as he always seemed to get sent off or accumulate a ban over the festive period.

Seemed an odd situation there as come January he was on the M6 up to us... until the word got out that the supporters club had voted a motion of no confidence in Smurf then all of a sudden it was pulled as he couldn’t get there in time in Smurfs view (despite Fax’s and emails existing)

Robbie Cundy rumoured on loan from Bristol City. They only signed him this summer from Bath City where he won all of the end of season awards

He’s 6ft 6” so you can safely say we’re moving away from the Tisdale cultured style!

Luke Varney had his highest ever goalscoring season last season at the age of 36. His goals, experience, and general attitude around the club has been vital to helping Duff settle in and he's going to play a crucial role this coming season in mentoring Tav Campbell alongside Reuben Reid.

With older players, it's as much what they do off the pitch as what they do on it sometimes.

Going back a whole this but my first season supporting GTFC we had Garry Birtles playing for us and despite his age (around 35 I think at the time) he’s one of the best players I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching at Blundell Park, even as I kid I appreciated just how incredible a footballer he was.

Theo Robinson and Kyle Bennett will be joining on perms within the next couple of weeks according to Wellens.

Excellent news! We’re almost there now, recruitment wise. One more striker, one winger and probably a loanee CB.

Proper got the job done early this summer, and some decent signings in my opinion too - shows Swindon are very competitive in wage terms which to be fair they should be at this level.

Some teams have almost completed rebuilding their squads for next season and we haven’t even made a single signing!

There are no guarantees especially in the lower leagues, Notts County being a prime example last season. You just have too hope the team click, tbf considering who our coach was last season we can't help but be more positive with Gary Bowyer in charge regardless of who we sign.

Gonna be a competitive league, for sure. You should have got the job done last season. Much tougher this, I reckon.

We had Jason Shackell at 35 last season, who was that good at CB he never actually had to defend. Picking up a 6 game ban at Carlisle wasn't one of his finer moments, mind!

Doidge to Hibs confirmed. Around £250k apparently.
That's around the same guaranteed sum as the Bolton move, I think? The latter was worth more with a lot of add-ons?

Looks like you're already a taller side than we were!

How many did he get. I'm sure I can remember him getting close to 20 a few times for us around 2007. Him and Maynard were amongst the top scorers certainly.

How did he find time to play football as well as being in On The Buses?
