Rumours a club has bid for Ben Whitfield who we've been trying to get off the wage budget and he hasn't travelled to Scotland with the squad and been left out the friendlies recently.

Just never really progressed from his decent loan spell 18 months ago and the fact neither Aspin nor Askey want him is pretty damning with how bad we've been!

Weird that there seems to be three Look North's throughout the country. It causes confusion.

My proposal is therefore to rename Yorkshire's Look North to 'Look North (South)' and Lincolnshire's to 'Look East (West)'

Oddly we have York City in ours.
London needs a Look North for Watford as well tbf.

Eddie Clarke has signed on a season long loan from Fleetwood. Formerly of Tranmere- whats he like?
Seems a good signing based on how Tranmere fans used to talk about him. Probably means Campbell wants to continue with 5 at the back with wing backs, and that Fitz (who Sol hasn't got on with) may well be on his way out too sadly.
There was some talk of us getting him back, but maybe Fleetwood didn’t want him going to a L1 rival or maybe he felt it inappropriate given the manner of his departure, I don’t know.
Attack-wise, he’s good think he played a part in one if not both goals against you in the 2-2 at Moss Rose, decent crosser, some pace. Defensively a little raw and sometimes out of position. Probably better as a wing-back than pure left-back. A decent signing for Macc.

Ohhh there are 3 different ones? That is made all the more confusing growing up with the Hull one and then moving to Leeds and getting that one for 8 years.

Look North is the local news, which should cover everyone around here yet spend 99% of the time focusing on Hull.

They'll even throw something in on Peterborough from time to time just to be a bit left field.

That reminds me I need to retune because mine picked up Look North and I’m not particularly interested in a segment about how they are using drones to see how the potatoes are growing in Lincolnshire.

The two Bristol city youngsters Smith and Hinds were deemed no better than our own youngsters so we're not going to be loaning them in. Mbula and Taylor still on trial though and likely to play in friendlies tomorrow.

With a dozen defenders and a striker that Barrow fans described as unable to finish his dinner signed, I guess we're aiming to 0-0 our way to scrape survival on 46 points.
That's how Mansfield got to the playoffs last year, to be fair.

We get Humberside Look North in Mansfield on the antenna, not watched it in a while. Is Harry Gration still alive?

We have cable now and that gives us BBC East Midlands.

Was a competition last season between Dillon Barnes and Rene Gilmartin as to who was our poorest goalkeeper... Gilmartin has ended up at Bristol City and Dillon Barnes has now just signed for QPR. Genuinely mental.

That's our plan get your own. At least you have a striker so you'll be scoring more goals than us.

Big fan of Eddie Clarke during his spell at Tranmere. Biggest homegrown prospect we’d had for a good while. Devastated when he left. Rumour has it that he was offered less than the minimum wage and off he waltzed to Fleetwood.
Agree with Boz, very good as an attacking wingback with a good delivery but not quite there as a defender yet.

If it ain't Rene Gilmartin I'd be very surprised. We had him on loan at Crawley for 7 games or so a few seasons back and I never saw him make a save beyond picking up a daisy cutter. In fact I'm not sure if I saw him attempt to make a save either.

So were they generally poor then?

I've seen stats which indicate your 'keeper(s) were the 3rd/4th worst performing in the division last season. It would be interesting to know if those stats reflect your fans views on your 'keepers.

Sounds about right. Can't have been helped with being chopped and changed frequently when goalkeeper is typically a steady position in the team but they were really poor and cost us on far too many occasions. Struggle to think of any saves during the season that would make you really applaud.

They generally had a good defence in front of them and didn't necessarily have a great deal to do, but if anything went wrong we were hit for three and four a few times. Utterly bizarre to have two goalkeepers move up two divisions when 95% of the fanbase are happy to release them.

Another day closer to the start of the season and Carlisle United still only have 14 players, including 2 goalkeepers and 2 first year professionals, no strikers.

The closer we get to August 3rd the more I’m starting to think the people running our club desperately want a place in the record books for lowest total of points ever picked up in a League Two season.

A very good player and way better than the bottom end of League Two in my view. I am disappointed he is not still here as I think he would be first choice.

The notthetop20 podcast names us and Colchester as the teams from the top half last season to finish bottom half next.

I'm not sure about Colchester. They've made some good signings.
Oh nice, didn't realise that was out yet. Cheers for the headsup, will listen today at work. The D3D4 one is supposed to be out on the 29th too.

Agree about Colchester too, people are focusing on their outgoing players too much. They've recruited well. Wouldn't be surprised to see them kick on and get in the playoffs this season.

Stupid question time - presumably D3D4 is just a podcast that concentrates on League 1 and League 2? I might have a look at adding that one to my podcast lists for the new season.

Yeah it is, has specials with players and coaches fairly regularly too. I stopped listening to The Totally Football Show, it just started going 80% Championship, 15% L1, 5% L2 and occasionally even being all like "Ohh, I suppose we have to do L2 now". It's a bit shit without Matt Stanger too. D3D4 is definitely much more DIY and the presenters don't have much charisma, but you're obviously into people who lack charisma talking about L2 stuff for ages because I've seen you replying to Adam Stag's posts before!:lol:

Marvin Kokos, 18-y-o Marseille youth product, striker/winger, signs a 2 year deal with an option of a third.

I hear you about the Totally Football Show, I might actually bin that off as well, I find Caroline Barker quite irritating but don't mind the analysis between Sam Parkin and Adrian Clarke. Matt Stanger is good, right enough.

I'm not particularly fussy when it comes to charisma, i'll generally reply to anyone on here, regardless of colour, creed or club supported! :)
