Left back Ashley Smith-Brown coming on loan from Plymouth.

Is he available mainly because of Lowe using 3-5-2, and what should we expect from him?

Nope, have heard it is because he wants him to go and live in Bury for a bit before he will even consider playing him.

Gassy, I know that we have been trying to sign Bennett permanently but I read he has been good for you in pre-season and Coughlan may now keep him.

Have you heard anything your end?
I haven't heard anything, so to speak, but I do expect us to keep him. He's had a very good pre-season for us so I don't think there is a reason to let him go as it stands. I guess Coughlan will want to see how he performs back at L1 level in the opening few games.

Did you make an approach in the end? Your manager is quite vocal in the press about it, but last I read was he said that he was 'going' to make a bid.

Btw what happened with Broadbent towards the end of the season? I heard he really dropped form?

He’s a back up CB. Conroy has been made captain and Baudry from Franchise looks a class act.

Broadbent will be a very good replacement when the inevitable injuries/suspensions hit.

We could also play him in a 3 at the back, I suppose.

I think Wellens said we were hopeful of being able to agree a deal with you for Bennett but not sure if we have made any official bids. I read that we had offered a swap of Keshi Anderson for Bennett but not sure if that's accurate or not.

I think something was up with Broadbent towards the end of last season, either an injury or personal issues but he seems to be more of a squad player now with Conroy given the captain's armband and Baudry will be first choice.

Calderwood said we're still after two of our trialists (hopefully Carruthers and Obika). He also said we're in talks with two clubs about two others.

Strange one on Broadbent, considering he seemed to start off amazing for you.

Not heard of this Anderson player, seems odd to do a trade deal with a team above if there wasn't money involved? Is he good?

Keshi flatters to deceive, if he could get consistency on his passing or shooting he would be a good player. Sadly he has a habit of drifting past 2 or 3 men and then making an utter hash of a pass or shot. Seemingly he is on a good wage but Wellens is disappointed in his goal return. In the last year of his contract so is on the transfer list but he'll be a handy player off the bench if we get no bids.

Fair enough, seems an odd one to offer if that's the case.

With no offence intended - I don't see why we'd replace our winger with a backup L2 winger?

Mind you, he probably googled how bad we are at transfers, knowing us we'd even give you money as part of the swap ffs :ffs::lol:

Multiple local news sources reporting that we are signing David Wheater!

A resident ITK on our forum has said it's been possible for a while, after Salford cooled their interest, and nobody else has come in for him.

It's fair to say that transforms us, as long as his legs haven't completely gone. For his experience and leadership as much as anything else. We still won't get enough goals I reckon, but I'm not gonna put that bet on for us to lose by at least 2 on Saturday any more...

Bit surprised as I assumed he was a back up wing back. I would have assumed Tafari Moore would have been loaned out first. ASB played a fair few games last year as a full back. Presumably, Lowe feels he is not there yet for wing back. Has some speed, but seems a bit afraid of bombing forward. Did not totally look out of place in league 1 last year, and with a season’s knowledge of adult football I would expect him to start for you. I can’t see the loan being a season long one as I assume we will use him at some point.

He’s ok. Personally I thought he would fit Lowe’s 3-5-2, but he’s had a poor pre-season. He did well last season for a run of games at LB, but then when Gary Sawyer became fit again, he lost his place in the side.

Would only be a back up for us, but think he’d do a job for you.

Thanks. We signed Iacovitti to play left back, but fans who have been say he's been rotten in pre-season.

Louis Dennis confirmed on a 2 year deal from Portsmouth for an Undisclosed fee.

He was lethal in the National League two seasons ago when we was first in it.

Dean Brill has also signed a one year contract extension.

Just one central midfielder needed now and we’re done unless anyone else is sold.

He is two footed and could also play on the right side of the defence if needs be

Will be good in case of emergency, but we have Mills there who was impressive for Morecambe, and Tom Hamer, homegrown lad who we hope will be a star.

And David Wheater is a Latic, confirmed! He's 32 now yes, but what a relief that is to have a player like him at the back...

Jay Harris has now indeed signed for Macc. Whilst he's not as good as some of the midfielders we've had in the past few years, he's better than what we currently have so a decent signing. Can see him taking the captain's armband too.

We sold Morgan Ferrier to Tranmere for an undisclosed fee, probably around 75k. Not a big loss as a player but it only leaves us with 2 "senior" strikers.

Meanwhile Rakish Bingham continues his vacation in Los Angeles. He was spotted partying with Paris Hilton. He hopes to fly to Carlisle tomorrow (via Heathrow and Southend) once a deal is agreed.

From tonight’s club forum.

Didn't really play much when he was here. Had a decent game against Colchester, his best game for us was when he started against Bury.

He played best when the ball was on the ground. He tended to try and play out of tricky situations rather than hoof the ball, which was different to how our other defensive midfielders tried to play.

We played him on the right occasionally, I think, but he's better in the middle.

Rumours picking up pace that we’re signing Luke Waterfall of Shrewsbury. Not sure how we would seeing as he has 2 years left on his contract, unless it’s a loan. Would be a solid signing at this level I think but he probably isn’t as good without Danny and Nicky cheering him on.

Should suit the way Duff wants us to play then... time will tell
