Don't see Bradford getting rid considering he's played every match so far. Would leave them a gap to fill and potentially help a rival in the same division. Believe this one when I see it.

To pre-empt the Doyle response, yes there are some fans who don’t like him which I’m sure you could say for every player, many however as I say recognise the fact we haven’t helped get the best out of him and he has the potential, given his record, to score goals in this division.

I don't think we've played to Doyle's strengths once since he's been here. He's notoriously been at his best when partnered with a big lad and the only time that happened with us was when we played him with a German pub league player last season for a couple of games. Aside from that he's either played upfront on his own and had balls pumped at his head or played in a number 10 role at the tip of a diamond - both positions he's looked apalling in.

But, I do struggle to see what his attributes are. He's very slow so can't really run in behind and he's not technically gifted either. He can't trap a bag of cement and I don't think he has ever won an aerial dual.

Both Donaldson and Vaughan have many strings to their bows and for me in the little we've seen so far this season, have shown that they're streets ahead of Doyle in their all round game. Maybe wellens can get the best out of Doyle but I'll be glad if he goes and we can use his reported £4k-£5k wages on our central midfield which is abysmal.

Well, going by that he doesn’t sound like the player we need. Yates looks a decent, hard working striker but he’s not big and we don’t hump crosses in looking for headers. All our front men are very pacy. I presume Welllens knows him well enough, though.

If it does, indeed, happen I’ll trust him to get the best out of him.

Jolley seems a smart bloke. When he first came he tried tiki taka football but just didnt have the players for it. He's since realised that it's not the way to get out of League 2. Fancy the Cods to make the playoffs maybe, assuming you've got the WWWLLLLLLLLWWW thing out of your system now.

Waterfall will be a solid signing providing Grimsby play to his strengths, which is by playing compact and having a more dominant CB next to him. He's not someone who'll pull a player up to his level but will drop down to their level, which is why he excelled alongside Raggett and latterly Wharton but not Nat Brown.

Perfect example was in his first season here, he played alongside Nat Brown and had a full back (Bradley Wood, I think?) who played quite attacking and it left him awfully exposed as shown in his sending off at BP in that season - he can't defend one-on-ones well.

Then in DC's first season, the full backs were more disciplined, he was alongside Raggett and Woodyard was in front of the back four. Then he also learnt to head a football properly because prior to that, it was a 50p piece.

A proper head and kick it kinda defender, though, which is what all teams need. Kick a ball in his direction and he'll head it. A threat at set pieces (12 or so in two seasons here I imagine) but a bit awkward with the ball at his feet and not the quickest albeit not painfully slow.

He's not at a Raggett, Shackell, Bostwick, Preston, Pearce, Sweeney etc level but comfortably in that second tier of L2 CB's.

Not surprised it didn't work out for him at L1 level. I questioned the move at the time and, in particular, Askey's style of play wasn't suited to him at all.

Yeah, that's a bit of a worry. Can't see us making the playoffs but I said all pre-season we'll be comfortably mid-table with chance of a top 10 maybe. Sticking to that.

Yeah, I've got to be honest and say I never really rated him at Lincoln whenever I saw him but the times I saw him would have been in that first season, I think? Always seemed to have a mistake or a card in him. The game that sticks out is the game at BP in our promotion season when we were 1-0 up but you lot had easily had the best of the opening half an hour or so and were looking like you'd pull us back and he hauled Amond down when he was sort of in on goal but with a lot of work left to do and he got sent off. Completely swung the match in our favour.

Woth noting that for all the negative comments he's getting from Shrewsbury fans they only conceded 59 last season, which gave them the 2nd best defence in the bottom half so he can't have been that bad in L1.

Apparently we’re signing Jamie Devitt from Blackpool!

He only signed for them a couple of months back on a 2-year deal. Must have had a falling out with them if it's true.

He was signed by Blackpool and then Simon Grayson came in shortly after and seemingly doesn't rate him and so wants to get him off the payroll presumably to get someone in he does rate.

I'm fairly sceptical personally.

Elias Sorensen from Newcastle on a season loan confirmed.

Potentially a good signing. Top scorer in Premier League 2 last season. Played for Newcastle last month in the Premier League Asia Trophy. Recall him missing an absolute sitter against west ham though.

Rumour is that its now Doyle. Perhaps its both?

If he does go, I’ll be surprised! It would pave the way for a decent CM - an area we’re somewhat lacking in quality.

We’re linked with Jason Lowe - but he wouldn’t come cheap.

If GB prefers the 433/4321, then Doyle may aswell leave. Shay McCartan is back soon, and he’d be a better fit than Doyle for the tip of a diamond.

So you've just signed one of the best striking prospects in Premier League 2 and you bring up him once missing a sitter? Brilliant! :fl:

As per the others we never used Doyle correctly, however, he had no discernible strengths himself.

His confidence is shot to pieces and this is the best all round.

I'd wager he's now a spent force, but good luck to him.

I’m relying on the fact Wellens knows him well enough after their time at Oldham.

As with all signings, time will tell.

Is it right Doyle is the feature in your programme tomorrow?

Sometimes it just doesn't work.

Sometimes it just does in Ajose's case. Will never rate a player off based on his apparent ability to only perform in Swindon red and white. Now I've completely fucked it for tomorrow.

Yes he is lol.

Glad we're shut. People made excuses for him, and whilst we didn't play to his strengths he failed at even the basics such as ball control, simple passing and any sort of physicality. I think his blood clot on his leg may have had a bigger impact than people realise, he just doesn't look to have any ability what so ever, yet his record before his blood clot says different.

Shows how serious Bowyer took the league cup playing him as a lone striker.

Reactions from Bradford fans range from jubilation to thinking you've made a mistake.

I'm more than happy to take him based on Wellens knowledge of the player. He's not made many bad signings so far.

Hope he does better than 2 of our other loan signings.

Hardly kicked a ball and both are now out for months and returned to their parent clubs.

Who you got as a Doyle replacement? Anyone lined up?

Happy with the signing of Doyle, he seemed to flourish for Wellens at Oldham so if he can repeat that form then we'll have a very happy set of supporters.

It will be interesting to see how he works with Yates/Anderson/Woolery. We have some good options up front now at least.

Someone is adamant that its Danny rose from Mansfield although I highly doubt it
