In one of the weirdest articles I've ever seen, it looks like Crewe are keen to cash in on some players. What a bizarre piece.
Not weird, just a sad state of where we are at right now. We are potless and are basically flogging our players and getting no interest. The club don't seem to have realised that nobody rates our players anymore. Probably because some of our more recent exports have been shite like Max Clayton and George Cooper. Ryan Colclough is the only truly half decent player we've sold in the last 6 years and even he's back in L2.

We're getting desperate, which is why our manager is basically shouting from the rooftops that our players are available. It's yet more evidence to our clueless board that our model is dying before their eyes, yet they are too blind to see it.

Would’ve kept Doyle personally but could be best all round time will tell, his big wages MUST be used on a centre mid.

Doyle is one of the worst ive seen for PNE, absolutely zero qualities.
Doyle is one of the worst strikers we've had, zero ball control, can't head and seems like he's running in treacle, truly awful.

Will Buckley apparently signing for us according to an ITK who called a couple right and first this summer.

We are still in for a striker. Would of liked Doyle.

Signed right back Jayden Richardson on a season loan from Forest. Really needed another right back as Sweeney has been suspect there for a while.

Looks like this lad is quick which is also a welcomed addition. Him and Randell down the right flank should be a good threat and hopefully he’s a solid defender too.

Doubt we'll be paying much of a fee. We missed out on Sowunmi in the summer though, so as far as wage budget goes we're still a mid to high earning (relative to the squad) first team defender down.

You know better than anybody that if a player has played for Lincoln recently his wages will be astronomical, I’m sure not on Greenies level though.

Absolutely hate Eoin Doyle. Scored more goals than appearances against us, also rejected us on a few occasions. Thank god we've already played Swindon once this season

Very disrespectful from Artell who fails to realise just how VIncent-Young played an instrumental part in absolutely annihilating us 12 months ago and is a cracking young player. I really like Perry but I don't think he's as good as a lot of people think...

To me, it's a sad thing is we lost almost an entire crop of serviceable Academy products under Davis because his management was that inept, with negative football and 5 loanees a game blocking a pathway for our future stars. Cooper and Colclough were the only players he truly developed. Maybe Clayton at a push as he played for Davis longer than he featured for Dario (even though he wasn't very good).

We're still suffering from that multi-year drought caused by Davis, and it's true Artell has developed a crop of very exciting and very capable young footballers in Kirk, Ainley, Ng, Pickering, Lowery, Wintle and Finney to name a few. But are scouts going to be interested in a team whose last five league finishes were 20th, 24th, 17th, 15th and 12th? Not really. Colchester have been a consistent top half team in this league since their relegation. Which is why the likes of Kent, Szmodics and Vincent-Young have all got moves for decent fees. We've often wasted two thirds or half of a season before we've realised "Shit, we need to start winning games.".

Although you can also argue that apart from that great crop which had Westwood, Murphy and Powell in it, no other players we've sold or released in the last few years have gone on to play regular Championship football at the very minimum. So maybe our Academy just develops solid League One players at best? But then you see Cooper fail at that level and you think, do we even do that either?

Danny Mayor and Callum McFadzean made him look silly a couple weeks ago.

Aye but he would have taken a pay cut to move to lge 1 Shrews from Lincoln and then another pay cut to us from Shrews, so while still big wages no where near what it could have been if he came straight from Lincoln.

Aye, “Steeton” has called virtually all of our pre-season signings.

Buckley has undoubted quality, but seems to have fallen off the radar a bit recently.

Still, he should prove to be too good for this level. Decent age still, too.

Waterfall was pre-Cowley, so wouldn't have been on that much. Don't think he extended his contract during his time with us either so he'll have had a pay rise jumping up to L1.

A string of league 1 and SPL clubs are believed to be looking at Crewe right back Perry Ng after his manager Dave Artell publicly advertised that he's up for sale.

That is a really good signing. He played very well and a stand out player against Mansfield in this seasons PSF.

I can't claim to know anything about Perry Ng other than I've seen him rated highly by the Crewe fans on here. KVY is excellent though and I'd be surprised if he wasn't at least as good as any other wing back in League Two, possibly even League One too. He's even been playing out of position on the wrong side for most of the past two years as well and still generally looked like our best player.

Just seemed a strange article for the Crewe manager to be discussing a Colchester wing back moving to Ipswich. Appears as though he is a bit desperate for some money and trying to build interest to sell a player or two - can't really remember seeing something like that before!

Well it's standard at Crewe. We're the football equivalent of a market stall. Never seen a club's Twitter account celebrate selling a player like ours with George Cooper.

The Colclough sale was even worse as it was during our worst season for over three decades and they still thought it was great.

I do think this pimping of players will come to end once Hassall is ousted, but that could be another year or more yet...

Glad to see the back of Doyle. Yes we maybe didn't play to his strengths but hes been appalling on the whole. 300k fee and 5k a week has been a very expensive mistake.
Good to get him off the wage bill and hopefully bring in a couple that will improve the team.

If anyone wants a useless striker, we’ve released Calum Dyson. 1 season, 2 appearances, both in the Checkatrade trophy, 0 goals. Absolutely useless.
