I'm still surprised that the odds on Luton winning the league are still 16/1 - only 4th favourites. Surprised considering with the calibre of player we've signed so far complimenting a very decent season last year.

Lol loving the notion of Andre Gray being compared to Jamie Vardy.

Andre Gray is a talent though and he will probably go on to be as successful as Vardy, who hardly scored in his first season in the championship

I heard Lee Gregory was a key part in Millwall's plans this season. Sounds a wild rumour that.

It's bollocks. Fact.

This week is going to be one of the most interesting we've had in years I reckon. 4/5 signings expected and 16 trialists start from Wednesday, most of whom are foreign and from Moniz's contacts, if like expected, they're players such as Jenner and Leonardo then I'd expect a few to be signed up. It's going to be fun this season, not sure what brand of fun but I'm a sadist so I'm content either way.

I feel pretty optimistic about our trialists, hopefully we sign a couple of them. Kevin Farade and Kevin Osei signing would be nice, then we'd need another winger and we'd probably be done. Getting rid of Paynter will have freed up enough money to sign a couple of the trialists I would have thought.

I quite liked Jervis. As a striker there aren't many faults which a good goal-return won't mitigate, and his was quite good in his spell with us.

barcham has indeed be having talks with us. Whats he like?
He was electric for us playing on the left side of a front three. If you don't play that formation then he won't really fit in, as he isn't a striker and can't really play as a wide midfielder. Give him license to run at people without defensive responsibility and he'll do well.

Nyron Nosworthy has been trialling with us and looks set to sign tomorrow from what I've seen/heard. Never been a fan of his higher up the pyramid, but at this level he could prove to be a clever signing in a fairly young squad (Cureton aside). Hopefully it works but I'm 50/50 on it at the moment as to whether it's a good idea.

I agree bit I don't think he's as good as Vardy having seen both play against us in the Conference. Granted players do improve but it was pretty obvious Vardy was a special talent who was going to do it in theChampionship. The fact he has done it in the Prem too isn't a surprise and shows his development also didn't stop once he reached Leicester. I'd say the jury is still out on Gray and the Premier League.

We had him for a few games towards the end of the season, he got stuck in and had a few alright games.

Its certainly an interesting time at Notts, never known us to be looking across the sea, well further than Ireland anyway.
Probably the most interesting since the last time we got out of this division for entirely different and "real" reasons.
As far as I can see if you have a strong back 2, pace on the wings a forward and a striker you should do ok in this division.
Looks like thats what RM is looking for, there is still a "known" premier division striker mulling over a deal. Probably someone who only played a few games but hey he's supposed to be "known"

I know (or knew) at least one person to whom that would be great news. A lad I was on halls with at uni, supported Gills and Daggers, attending home games at both, and was a big Nosworthy fan, even had a shirt 'Noz' had thrown into the crowd.

You were friends with someone who supported two different teams and identified as a 'big Nyron Nosworthy fan'?

I believe one of the back-up options was a Premier League striker. Trew hasn't said anything about our 'top two choices' other than one is from the Championship and 'would be our new Hughesy'. He just said we had plan B in place and that one of the plan b strikers had even played in the Premiership last season.

Yes. I believe Gills were his main team and Daggers were just his local tinpot outfit, but he did go to their games... This was 14 years ago so Daggers were a lot further behind Gills than they are now. I think Nosworthy played for Gills at the time.

That's the saddest Two Club Wanker story I've ever heard.

In his defence, at the time Gillingham were an established Division One team while Daggers weren't fully professional (AFAIK), so I'm not sure that him turning up to watch Daggers would have made him a TCW by the standards of the time, and Nosworthy was a real fan's favourite at Priestfield.

We've signed Angelo Balanta on a 6 month contract

Bit of a shit signing really but as it's only short term there's no harm in seeing if he can produce something.

I was concerned when Rovers signed him last season, but he's not all that great.
Hence the 6 month deal. If (when) we realise he's shit, we can fuck him off.

Another squad player I would think, he'll be on a small wage and he's not here for long so up to him to make an impression and earn a long-term deal here or elsewhere.

It'l take him the six months to get match fit.
Under normal circumstances maybe, but he'll have extra motivation. He's playing for the greatest football club in the world, fighting to get into the team to wear the famous los azul shirt.

If that doesn't inspire any footballer to give as much as they possibly can, then nothing will.

He'll only get one chance to play on the Brunton Park carpet as well, an honour not afforded to most footballers https://instagram.com/p/4jj6XQh0aI/

As you have quickly discovered from others, Big Ange didn't exactly set the world alight in the Conference and his career has been on a downward spiral for a while. That has to be a concern for a guy who is only just turning 25.

You've signed him on reputation alone, because he produced the square root of zilch for us in terms of all-round performances when he played. He was/is unfit, anonymous defensively and didn't show he was skilful enough to beat a man when he was played out wide or in behind.

He did, however, score a couple of important goals for us, including one of the penalties in our shootout triumph at Wembley, and for that I will be forever grateful to him. To be fair he showed a couple of exceptional touches at times which wouldn't have looked out of place at a much higher level, and you can tell there is a player in there somewhere. If you were to get him as fit as he possibly can be this pre-season, he may turn in better performances for you than he did for us.

Good luck to him.

I too can confirm that he is not very good. Maybe with a full pre-season he'll do okay, but a big maybe.

He didn't get fit, he showed some very brief glimpses of quality at the start of his spell, but that dwindled very quickly and he put in some very poor cameo performances at times. Didn't look interested some of the time either, even when he came on at Wembley. Scored a decent penalty though, and for that I'll be forever grateful.

Best of luck to him up there, but I hope for their sake he's only on the fringes of Carlisle's first team cos I would say he wasn't good enough for a team fighting at the top of the Conference.
