Looks as though we had a good reason to let Ibrahim Meite leave. He has been charged with stabbing someone. Though reading through the article it seems they may have stabbed each other.

In the article it is said he played for Crawley but the only thing I can remember is him getting sent of at Crewe ten minutes after coming on as a sub.

We are being linked with Joe Riley (Bradford City) as are Carlisle and Oldham.

Credible rumour for once, we're in for Jamie Barjonas from Rangers. Had a short spell at Bury. I've heard the name and know he was highly rated a couple of years back, but seems to have been muddling around in the Scottish Championship/L1 since.

I dunno, but we were on about you finding it hard to believe the fee paid, which I don’t understand because it seems about right to me.

I‘ll guess he will do pretty well but it’s probably his limit too, Blackpool fans keep going on about him being ‘up and coming’ he’s nearly 26 - I doubt you will get the consistency in end product for him to go any higher for a decent period.
Not saying the fee was too high for Hamilton, more than I’d imagine Yates to be more valuable seeing as he’s a striker with 14 goals in a championship winning team.

So are the likes of Tanner, Riley and Devine who are all being linked to Carlisle happy to go part time then?

Injury. Signed in the summer and got injured before the season started, didn't start for us until December. He did ok for us, was surrounded by crap which wouldn't have helped him. Wasn't overly disappointed to see him go but would have been happy to keep him also, was very much on the fence with him. It's difficult for me to be too enthusiastic about any of the squad from last year as we so poor, he's versatile, could cover multiple positions which is handy, particularly if you're running on a smaller squad size this season.

Cheers Brox. I did check out his wiki page but there's nothing about his time at Boro. I was a tad worried that he had started the season but then lost his place and that wouldn't have been a good sign in a poor squad. Though having said that, I still think 'on paper' your squad should have stayed up comfortably.

Good luck for next season, especially if you end up in the conference. Far too many bankrolled village sides down there for my liking.

It’s probably because they think CJ is a better player, and one more likely to make them money.

Based on what? One played in a team that has, by all accounts, been poor in a poor team. The other is L2’s second leading scorer for a team which win the league.

Doesn’t seem feasible to me.

Didn't Blackpool sign Yates from Rotherham? Rotherham obviously happier to let him go for less than Mansfield were for CJH. It's not always just about the player's most recent form is it?

Presumably it’s been discussed as a possibility with targets so anyone who signs will have agreed to it.

I know the part time thing was a big factor in why our move for Devitt failed.

Why are you playing dumb, it’s never that simple, CJ is a confidence player, hence why he struggled last season. I’ll go out on a whim and say CJ went for more because Blackpool thought he was worth it, he is more highly rated and known, rightly or wrongly.

Not playing dumb. To me, it’s a no brainer that Yates is more valuable than Hamilton.

Makes no difference to me whatsoever. Just stating my opinion.

Elliot Watt to be confirmed on Monday - permanent + another 1/2 next week.

Alex Gilliead’s name keeps cropping up. He carries the ball well, but couldn’t hit a barn door with us in League One. I suppose he had a decent season last time out with Scunny; 6 goals from 35 league app - not shabby in a poor side.

Yates has had a great season but before hadn’t really hit any heights, more of an investment and maybe a good sell on/bonus package involved?

Hamilton is an odd one, looked immense a couple of seasons back but can’t remember him doing much against us last season and seemed to drop form massively with his team reflecting that too. “Confidence player” you hear a lot in wingers and that itself is usually why they are at this kind of level, Amoo, JMW, Vincent we’ve had some wingers gracing our wide flanks in recent years that have been unplayable at times, anonymous at others, it’s that old “if they played like that every week they’d not be at this level” one where wingers are concerned. They are probably the most infuriating players for fans at this L1/L2 level.

Confirmed any deals done so far (Doyle, Sarcevic, Lowe, etc.), will only count as £1.3k p/w for next season regardless. August 6th the cut off when the new rules start.

Those players you mentioned, and obviously plenty of others, are all way ahead of £1.3k pw, so what happens next season? Still counted at £1.3k pw for the entire duration of their contract?

The club have now confirmed that the offers they made to the three out of contract players they wanted to keep (Byron Webster, Jack Bridge and Gethin Jones) have all been rejected.

This leaves us with seven contracted senior players for next season.

Everything has to be top secret with this club. They’ve only announced this now because of Webster revealing his decision on the podcast the other day.

Holdsworth even says that they aren’t announcing signings even if they’ve already been made. Fuck the fans, they don’t need to know anything, they’ll still toddle along with their money to buy shirts and season tickets.

We've got Yaya Toure training with us today for some reason. Even at 37, imagine him knocking about League Two :pmsl: Mind, looks like he's been enjoying his lockdown beers as much as I have. Will be nice having him around the squad, even if he's just training with us for fitness.

GC did a interview yesterday with the squad being back.

Basically we’ve lowered our top wage, which means Maynard has been offered reduced terms but It looks like he wants L1 football.

One or two more may be sold, Andy Cook is probably one of them I reckon if we get a decent offer.

He said the squad will be cheaper, and younger next season, another CB is priority.

Have heard Bolton have offered him a £3M signing on fee but it's okay because they aren't paying a transfer fee and they are adhering to the salary cap.

No but seriously FUCK YEAH, came here to post this too. Would be amazing if he signed, purely so that Salford can shove all their Championship standard signings up their arse and Orient a team that everyone actually likes gets the best signing of the summer by a country mile.

Won't happen though will it?
