Correct, unless things have changed in the last week or so.Those players you mentioned, and obviously plenty of others, are all way ahead of £1.3k pw, so what happens next season? Still counted at £1.3k pw for the entire duration of their contract?
Probably end up like Edgar Davids at Barnet or Sol Campbell at Notts if he did actually sign. There's a reason players drop to this level.
As you reckon Maynard is better than Doyle, maybe Wellens will rekindle his interest from last year.GC did a interview yesterday with the squad being back.
Basically we’ve lowered our top wage, which means Maynard has been offered reduced terms but It looks like he wants L1 football.
One or two more may be sold, Andy Cook is probably one of them I reckon if we get a decent offer.
He said the squad will be cheaper, and younger next season, another CB is priority.
He’d be much better than Davids (who contrary to what many think was actually half decent for us even with the red cards and general mayhem he brought with him). To lump either of them in with Campbell is a ridiculous statement!

Expect that between now and the 6th of August the likes of Salford and Bolton will start throwing around Championship wages on three and four year contracts knowing that if they do that then players will have the security of the salary cap not applying to them until the end of that contract and the richer clubs banking on being in the Championship by that point.Have a read of this...
Revealed: The 'loophole' that could make the salary cap irrelevant

But the downside is that if the players don’t work out they’re pretty much fucked.Expect that between now and the 6th of August the likes of Salford and Bolton will start throwing around Championship wages on three and four year contracts knowing that if they do that then players will have the security of the salary cap not applying to them until the end of that contract and the richer clubs banking on being in the Championship by that point.
Why is it ridiculous. Campbell was world class in his prime.
If his knees are sorted then i'd say Salford have got themselves the best centre back in the league in Tom Clarke.
Obviously money talks because I thought he'd go to a League One club no problem, possibly even one of the teams promoted to the Championship.
Whilst you’re down here...
We’re rumoured to be signing Jack Armer. I know he didn’t play for your first team but just wondered if you’d seen him play at all and if he’s any good (for our standard).
I haven't no but he was well regarded by people who watched the youth team, most thought he would have got a deal if it wasn't for the Covid situation. Did very well at Lancaster by all accounts.
Left back who can play in the centre too I think, he's probably unlucky that we already have Josh Earl who plays in the same position and is further along in his development.
We seem to produce a few players in that position, Nick Anderton too who is at your place now, isn't he?
Didn't Davids only play (and manage) on an expenses basis? He seemed to be doing it just for the love of the game.
Campbell on the other hand was a purely financial decision - no chance in hell he'd have been at Notts for any other reason.
I remember him at Whaddon Road. You could see the guy just oozed class, but that his legs had gone. Trying to explain to an uninterested 7 year old (he doesn't even come to games anymore) that he's watching an ex-Champions League winner on the hallowed turf of Whaddon Road was probably my biggest lesson in futility ever.
We might bring him in instead of the targetman striker - Embleton likes to play 4-3-3 with two wide forwards.Us and Orient being linked with Ben Gladwin. Ex Swindon and Mk Dons midfielder.
Can't vouch for L2 but our Chairman has said that in the L1 meeting in early July, the 30th June cut-off date, which was in the original proposals was reaffirmed as happening so from what he's said, I'm guessing the EFL have just done what the hell they've wanted to appease the bigger/higher spending clubs for a little longer.Have a read of this...

We have signed goalkeeper Ethan Ross on a one year deal. What’s he like Colchester fans, though I doubt you saw much of him? Looks likely to be the back up keeper to whoever else we might be bringing in.
Posted in the League One thread, but here goes again: "Disappointed with that one - he never had much of a chance but performed well on the occasions he did and seemed very promising. I was fully expecting him to start to transition to number one this season. Comes across as a real top bloke off the pitch too, he really gets what being a footballer is about at our levels and builds a good rapport with the supporters etc."
