He is not Guardiola, but he copies Guardiola....Most teams down in especially lge 1 and lge two play and recruit very alike.
Bolton have done this the last 10 years.Signing players for the hell of it no real thought in the players we recruited.
Managers who sign what i call noah Ark squads,Two goalies Two right backs two left backs etc etc.
The only change in the last 10 years is Zonal marking has been added....these managers are fucking clueless.
They lack new ideas. In any industry unless you change you stagnate and are left behind...Or cease to exist.
FV [Boltons Owners] realised this and have changed this clubs Mentality. We do not have a manager, it is a head coach [Evatt] who coaches a specific way. We have a Director of football who Recruits specific players [Tobias Phoenix]
We then have a advisor to the board [Peter Kenyon]
We are going down the Brentford moneyball route. We are signing good youngsters who can be coached in a certain way then moved on for profit. Each of our management team works in a specific area. Gone are the days of a manager doing it all themselves and when he gets sacked a new manager comes in and changes everyone including the players.
Not sure I’d necessarily agree that handing last season’s top goal scorer a 3 year deal worth several thousands of pounds per week is replicating moneyball

Can’t wait for GC to put on a Mourinho masterclass when we play Bolton away.

Teams are absolutely going to frustrate Bolton if they play like the Bolton fan says. I can't see many teams going there for a win, most teams will just sit back and counter them. They're going to hate playing a shithouse team like Newport.

It’s not often I agree with this Bolton fella, but he’s right that football, even in the lower leagues, has to move on from the ‘hoof it to the big guy’ approach. All 3 auto promoted teams last season played neat, attractive, passing football. Sure, we got found out a few times by the likes of Newport and Colchester where they essentially hoofed us into submission, but overall we dominated teams.

Occasionally, the hoof will get you out of L2 - but what then?
Lincoln got out by hoofball. Think they have changed now though and very few players left from that squad

It is ok saying Evatt is this and that, but what he does against the likes of Chorley and Ebbsfleet may not be as workable against the sides at the level up here. Jury is still out on Evatt.

I get what you're saying, but Wycombe this season have hoofed their way into the second tier.

Many ways to skin a cat...

For all this fuss of footballing sides and at times we played some good stuff last season (may not have mentioned our great footballing move from one end of the pitch to the other culminating in Thomas Pope heading an equaliser past Bravo against Pep's very own team) but we found it far easier playing sides playing football and got far better results against them than the hoof ballers like Stevenage and Morecambe.

Hopefully get Bolton early doors and play them off the park with a bit of "Duff ball". Be a nice little grounding for them

Got the players in early....had three weeks training already including one pre season game.
Bolton will be the fittest sharpest team come game one.....Hope you get your wish

it doesn't matter how fit they are come game 1 - what matters is how long it takes the players to get used to the demands and system Evatt wants them to play - and how long it takes them to play it effectively. It took 3-4 months into Evatt's 1st season for everything to work as it should at Barrow - and even though Bolton are a "bigger club" it won't suddenly happen overnight.

The more I read from this Bolton fan, the more I’m missing the days of the Luton fans taking over this forum....

Think if i am correct in saying Evatt had 4 players to work start with at Barrow...And a very limited budget.
This time he will have a 8 week pre season and a squad that will easily adapt

James Vaughan is rumoured to be our next signing. Judging by his recent liked tweets he wouldn't be too against the move...

He would demand a 2 year deal on at least £4K per week. We would need to be compensated; lets says £300k. In total, he’d cost you over £700k before bonuses.

The more he is trying to manipulate a move the more I want rid. If he wants to go then he can fuck off - simple.

Someone on our forum has just mentioned Ollie Palmer’s name. We certainly don’t need anymore strikers unless one is on his way out. Vaughan perhaps?

Evatt often quoted the 4 players number the same as he quoted us having a bottom 4 budget last season - neither is correct. There were 7-8 players when he came in and the budget by the end was a top 10 one and was a midtable one at the start. Evatt has a habit of talking things around him down to make himself out to be even better than he is.

We're being linked with Shay McCartan.

Thoughts Bradford and Lincoln fans?

Signed for £200k from Accrington a few seasons back. He claims to be and out-and-out striker but he’s more in the mould of a number ten. Very lightweight, not particularly quick but has a decent left peg. Any free-kicks around the 25 yard mark and he’ll probably score.

I love ball playing goalkeepers in League 2. FGR had a couple in their first season in the League and I think even their fans began to find it hilarious after the errors that were made.
This Ball playing keeper was capped by England at u16,17,18,19,20......world youth cup winner
Brought up as a ball playing keeper....

Looking forward to Bolton getting tonked in their first game.
The best thing for L2 this season is if they lose at home to either the newly promoted clubs (Barrow or Harrogate) or to someone shit last season like Morecambe or Macclesfield/Stevenage in the 1st game.

Ollie Palmer has just announced he will not be taking up the contract offer from Crawley and will move on to new challenges (doesnt say where).

He came here to get regular football, improve and put himself in the shop window. Pretty much what everyone wants when they sign for us.

I wish him well in the future but we need a replacement as all our forwards are of the same type and when the going gets tough none of them will provide an out ball and hold up play.

You can't help yourself, can you? The "World Youth Cup" winning goalkeeper was actually a lad from Barrow called Curtis Anderson... Your guy was warming the bench.
