I’m a bit confused by how Tranmere have signed Vaughan, so Bradford have paid him off his contract and Tranmere have got him for free? (Excluding his hugely inflated wages)
That is correct. By the sounds of it, we couldn't afford his wages at first, but once Bradford agreed to pay him off he accepted a lower offer.

I think he walked without Bradford paying him off......or the threat of breach of contract

Grimsby are now being linked with Alhagi Touray Sisay and Montel Gibson. @Admin, please can we get a shrug emoji installed in the emoji palette? Thanks.

Shouldn't really have put the smiley like thingy. Mmm Bop scored nine times as many league goals last season as our current complement of forwards...
Oh yeah, don't get me wrong. I'm a big fan of his and would be a bit gutted if he left.

Tranmere initially offered us Stefan Payne as part of the deal, needless to say, we declined.

Here’s hoping we’re freeing up the wages for “someone else”. :tw:
So that's why they were late saying happy birthday to him? Because they were trying to offload him?

It's funny isn't it. Bolton got nothing but abuse for signing a few players whilst under an embargo that some other clubs wanted because they though we were "Buying the league" or "Not learning from their mistakes". Yet here Tranmere are, signing 2 players for what is likely going to equate to the wages of 5 or 6 of our biggest earners and no one is saying a word.

Strange to me.
Do not worry. Rest assured a full investigation is being carried out and I will be exposing anyone that has spent recklessly throughout the summer. Part of the problem with the Bolton fans on here is that we like to do this thing when we pretend that the big club who has come down expects to absolutely piss the division. It was really good fun with the Bradford lot, but the Bolton fans have come down and actually do think they will piss this division so it takes the fun out of it a little.

Why would Bradford pay-off someone who wanted to leave? If Bradford wanted the player to leave then fair enough but not the other way round, especially one who'd command a fee. You'd just leave it up to Vaughan and Tranmere to sort wages out and come out of the deal losing no money at the very least.

Pretty much what I said yesterday, I can't imagine he got a payoff from Bradford that would be significant enough for him to take a big pay cut at Tranmere.
Any evidence that we’ve paid him off anyone?
Yes, F-I-R-T-H-Y and @WestYorksAgent on Twitter mentioned you had to pay him 700k. Has now been confirmed.

Did Tranmere make those redundancies in the end? Or was that made up by Palios?

Bilel Moshni.

FA Cup Second Round, we drew at Southend, and the Third Round draw saw the winner of the replay going to Anfield.

In that replay, Bilel Moshni got himself an utterly stupid sending off, and what was set to be a tight game was won quite simply by us.

After full time, Moshni was seen to come out of the players' entrance by himself, loudly ask where the nearest train station was, then announce that he was making his own way home and started walking!

A Southend member of staff ran out and got hold of him before he got too far, telling him to "Just get on the facking bus"or some such.

Loved that.

He did this at our place aswell, there isn't a train station anywhere near and he just started walking off apparently.

Yeah it’s all a bit weird, and we know Tranmere suddenly have bags, but with the cap now in effect I dread to think how much he’s taking up that precious £1.5m budget.

Just checked Mansfield squad, and excluding the youth we have training with the first team we have 17 pros - which includes one that’s out for the season and another that’s gunna get sacked due to being a twat, so we still need to do a bit of business.

Firthy and some Twitter account? You say it’s confirmed but I’m genuinely looking for a quote.

Not in Mansfield's league as money bags, sadly. Suspect Vaughan on less wages now, but may have been compensated by Bradford and is closer to his family, wouldn't like to guess how much of a dent he's made in our budget. We need a right-back, but other than that, so long as Blackett-Taylor isn't sold on, starting xi is sorted and even if CBT goes, we've got it covered, though will then need to get some pace into the side. I think Mark Palios is reliant on the salary cap driving wages down, but not sure it will work out that way and an NFL with no salary cap is a potential honey-pot.

I presume he’s been released. I wouldn’t have thought he’d be trialling at a League 2 club if he was under contract at boro.

Id welcome his return, I thought he looked good until his injury.
He's still listed on Boro's website

It could be though that they're prepared to allow him to come here for free or for a nominal fee (with sell-on clause of course) if his trial is successful. Alternatively it isn't unheard of for players to go on trial with a view to a loan, and could be in light of his long injury that Boro are happy for us to take him on trial before deciding on a loan move.

Luckily Mansfield have absolutely nothing to do with Vaughan mate, so that’s a bit off topic, and defensive

I’m finding it so bloody hard to find it true that Bradford handed Vaughan a load of money so he can go and play for Tranmere on a reduced wage.

Fair play to Tranmere owners willing to fund stuff like this though, I was shocked when Andy Cook entire wages and a fee was being paid by Tranmere last season.

You mentioned Rovers suddenly having bags. I don't think you can put the Palioi in the same league as John Radford for affluence, if there was a wealth league for L2 football chairman, ours would be comfortably mid-table.

I wasn't expecting us to be able to afford Vaughan and can't offer any new explanation for the deal, but with Mark Palios' accountancy caution, doubt we've matched his Bradford wages and paid a fee. Though maybe the EFL have paid us a bung for the demotion as some conspiracy theorists would claim:dk:

The thing about Cook doesn't surprise me, we had some significant Indonesian investment after the season started. Suspect the level of any fee due depended on whether we stayed in L1, as that was reportedly a term of the loan deal for James Vaughan.

Hiwula mentioned on Twitter to replace Vaughan which I’d be happy with, certainly needs something different upfront as everyone (even when Vaughan was still here) is too samey big lumps

Tranmere do seem to suddenly have bags, I have no idea how our respective owners compare in wealth, and yes JR is ridiculously wealthy but I don’t really get why we needed another comparison with very little relevance, I know I support Mansfield but I’m genuinely just as happy talking about other clubs on here once in a while!

I dunno about the relegation thing, I just heard we got a £50k fee for Cook, and I think we would like to recoup the remaining £100,000 we paid for him this summer from somebody to be honest!

We have been extremely well run for a number of years now and have bigger attendances and a far bigger commercial operation than a club like Mansfield, so hardly surprising that we can match them in the transfer market without borrowing or relying on a wealthy owner.

I think Bradford wanted rid of him because Vaughan made it clear he wanted to go. In fairness to Vaughan, a permanent deal was effectively agreed back in January / February but was interrupted by Covid, so he probably thought Bradford were going back on their word when they tried to persuade him to stay.

Eh ? [/QUOTE]

Nobody has had a pop at Tranmere, it’s all fine. I know it’s a bit hot outside and that can get people all hot and flustered but it’s all alright.

Would be very happy with Jordi Hiwula - he did alright under McCall the last time round.

I don’t rate Payne, but the thought that the prospect of getting him made Bradford rip up Vaughan’s contract and let us have him for free is hard to believe...

You have to be mindful that there’s only so much that can be spent on wages. Obviously, McCall doesn’t want Payne so why waste a wage on him. As for Vaughan, it was a case of cutting our losses and not wishing to keep him when he didn’t want to be there, as this would be more detrimental to team morale over anything else. The decision to get rid of Vaughan wasn’t primarily down to finances - it was all about location for the sulky bastard.

George Williams, FGR fans? He has been linked.
We’ve got him trialling at the moment - or at least we did. Don’t know if he’s still with us. Very good player but blighted with injuries that seem to have diminished him.
