He mainly riled our fans by cowardly pushing Whitfield over the hoarding at Crewe away pointlessly but will give him a chance.

He’s a strange character and a shithouser is probably something we’ve missed in recent times.

We gave Lee Hughes far more abuse before he signed and then were all doing the Hughesy!

We all did the Hughesy too when he played for us!

Funny how opinions change when the blokes playing for you.

By "doing the hughsey" do you mean driving like you're playing classic mid-90s PC game carmaggedon?

Harrogate have signed our old centre back Dan Jones, who came back to is for a handful of games last season but didn't look up to speed. Really wouldn't have thought he'd be good enough for League 2 unless he's worked hard over lockdown.

Southend surely favourites to go down... that squad is awful

Quite a few fans on ShrimperZone seem to think they’re playoff candidates. Utterly deluded. To be fair the majority are a little nervous. Not as nervous as they should be, mind.

Ive got them to go straight down... I don't see a single player in that squad that's anything close or above league two average. Nothings won on paper but they look reminiscent of the Chesterfield side that went down, and they did have one or two decent players that southend don't have!

Randell Williams expected to sign for Hull tomorrow. We’ll miss him but we looked decent without him yesterday, so it’s not the end of the world.

Alan Nixon linking us with a 17 year old Palace striker, a gamble if true for a crucial position we’re desperately lacking in.

Rumours our end were close to signing Liam Feeney from Blackpool. Was voted their payer of the season last season with highest number of assists, but apparently doesn't fit into the way the new manager wants to play. Would be a good signing if we can pull it off.

Yohan Zouma confirmed trial last week in again training this week with us.
Evatt wanted him in earlier this summer but his agent turned his head and was way out of our wage structure.
Two months later and the season started no club fixed up and he is back.

Evatt done a piece in the local rag about players not taking the pandemic into consideration when seeking contract and saying 100s of good players still without a club. And others who were glad to be offered a contract and be in work.

Yeah a few decent players out there still to be had. Nathan Thomas was out of our price-range to bring back on a permanent deal after Sheff Utd released him, but other than a failed trial at Doncaster and FGR briefly sniffing around he doesn't seem to have been looked at much. Probably about as good a winger as you're likely to find at this level and has enough about him for League One so he should be in demand.

May end up at Wigan if Sheridan gets the manager gig

Does he have any previous connection with Sheridan? Think it was Pressley who first brought him to us on loan and their spells at Notts didn't overlap.
Sheridan took him to plymouth when he was the manager there
Wigan will need about 15 players if they are saved

He was a bit unfairly treated playing for us, bit one dimensional for the level we were at at the time but could be effective getting in behind and firing in crosses.

I'd have him back now though for a year. Sure he'd make some full backs look silly in this league.

We have signed Kaiyne Woolery. Think he was out of contract after being with Swindon Town last season.

Thoughts Swindon fans?

He is mighty fast. I liked him, though. He works hard, racked up the assists and is surprisingly good in the air. He is also immensely strong, physically.

He is a poor striker, has poor decision making in the final third, despite the assists (he really should have more). The sort of player you’d like to come on with 20 minutes to go against a tiring defence.

On balance - a good signing I’d say.

I don't think it was ever on the cards tbh. Our fan base seems to have some sort of obsession with former players returning, as if that's the only pool of players available.

Just a lot of fans suddenly started making the connection, possibly some shit banter trying to get the rumour to stick on one of 'those' Twitter accounts. Whoever we're trying to sign, Dunn is waiting til they drop their wage demands - reckons a lot of players are holding out for silly money.

Confirmed we had talks with Henderson, Maynard, Hiwula and Agard but none would come for various reasons. Now looking at a youngster on loan. Unless he's an absolute world beater, we won't be troubling the playoffs.
