Pyke isn't very good either.

Yeah odd signing, so utterly utterly Hurst. Mixed reviews but in his defence it sounded like he improved slightly last season. Hurst has obviously seen something in him. Worryingly though he referenced his spell at Wrexham as the best bit if his career so far. Think PH is trying to bring his own backup options in as opposed to relying on Prem/Championship loanees that have barely kicked a ball in men's football as those have not generally worked out well for us in the attacking positions over recent years. Our activity so far is split between solid L2 players that are proven (Vernam, Rose, Mullarkey and Rodgers) and complete wildcards that have faltered a bit in recent seasons (Wilson, Eisa and Pyke). I think with those latter three we're probably hoping that if just one of them is a rough diamond then it'll serve us well. I can't imagine they're commanding huge wages, as opposed to the other four who we'll shelled out a bit of FA Cup dough on.

What a waste of space.

We were all set to sign Rak-Sakyi from Crystal Palace last summer until an injury to our starting RB. We brought in Oyegoke instead for RB cover and other than a bit of a physical performance against Cambridge which was only noticable because Lawrence was appalling, and then Watford where to be fair to him he actually did well, I couldn't tell you another good game he had. The euphoria around cutting his loan deal short was telling.

Grant was the worse player on the pitch in last season’s game at Mansfield. He was no where near as good as when I saw him play for Swindon against Mansfield some years previously.
