Impressed with Whelan's interview on CUTV. Sounds genuinely thrilled to be here.

Stockport County.
Surely Carlisle will use this financial might to stay up? Would be some story if they went down. I think and hope they'll stay up, always had a soft spot for them.

Morecambe by rights should be toast but Adams does give them and is giving them a fighting chance.

Didn’t notts go down with an expensive squad???

Carlisle will set new levels of madness if they go down the summer seen them offer the largest wages in the division to a few of their signings this window has seen them spending on transfers and then added tue fees and wages on top…….to go down following a budget which is guess is bigger than the other 23 sides this season is madness.

but it is very hard to get out of that losing mentality, even replacing the entire squad hasn’t got Carlisle out of it yet.

Meant to reply to this at the time but didn't for some reason but Embleton played once in L1 last season. It was 21/22 when he had a good season for Sunderland there. I've got a lot of Blackpool supporting mates and their reaction to offloading Embleton ranged from the champagne emoji to offers of lifts for the lad.

An assumed that was season previous than earlier, he’s the signing that worries me of the 3 signed so far but mostly because he’s out of form than in form……but the player is there if we can bring it out of him

Yeah Notts came into that season as favourites if I recall. Went through a couple of managers and just didn't work out.

Jealous of that one.
I must admit, I've never heard of him. Seems like he is better going forwards than backwards and played quite a lot in the Championship, so should be good enough for this level.

We need the wing backs to join in a bit more with attack, so I understand this signing. Bromley showed us how to use wingbacks a few weeks ago.

Well apparently we’ve signed someone & photos/interviews been done at the ground this morning. Take your pick from Mellon, Akinyemi or Stones as they’re the names I’ve heard us linked with, or in true CFC style, someone that we haven’t been linked with at all that comes out of nowhere.

In other news, Blackburn gaffer Eustace has done an interview saying no decision has been made on recalling any loan players yet so fingers crossed that means Markanday for at least one more game this weekend.

We did, it was massively unbalanced and a train wreck of a season from top to bottom. Your advantage is that your owners haven't run out of money as ours did.

According to Alan Nixon looks like Stones to York as good as done. Spending £350k up front on him, yeah bollocks to that if we ever did have an interest.

Thing is we haven't
We're still fielding some of the crap that got us relegated last season. Lewis (until recently), Barclay, Vela, Mellish, Neal, Lavelle, Armstrong etc all still around the first team. Although to be fair to the latter two they have improved of late.

Signed some lad called Jaheim Headley from Huddersfield on a permanent: Have to admit I have no idea who he is.
Town fan here if he gets his head right and gets consistency you could have a gem here, wasn’t able to perform every week so finished up not holding down a regular spot but if he gets regular game time you could have a right player best of luck.

Stupid money that, Wigan will be laughing all the way to the bank. But that owner of York’s spends his mums money like it’s going out of fashion so nothing surprises me with them

I can see this money throwing all going horribly wrong for York and they collapse completely.

That owner of theirs is a bit of an interesting character. Remember when there were (admittedly false) rumours of us trying to buy Dipo Akinyimi off them in the summer would see stuff on Twitter with him beefing with Scarborough fans among others. One of those while things are going well they will all love him but hit a dodgy spell you can see him proper throw his toys out the pram and threaten to close them down etc.

350k I would rather we spent on a more proven striker at this level with some experience.

There might be rare exceptions but a L2 club spending that sort of money at all is bloody ridiculous never mind on someone who seems more a project type player. Does show the January window is notoriously inflated when it comes to fees etc.

The guy is embarrassing and not someone you'd want in charge of your football club. Like you say, too volatile, no stability. He signs big cheques, though.

Last time I went to York, the club looked proper on its arse and crowds were low. Can only see disaster with that one.

One of my favourite cities in the UK though, so wouldn't be averse to an away day there.

I’ll never work out how we got relegated that season, spent all year going ‘yeah we’re shit but we won’t get relegated’.

I still look at our squad from 18/19 and it looks…’fine’

Hemmings, Dennis, Stead, Alessandra and Boldewijn in attack.

Lost 23 games though and had a -36 goal difference. Mental. I think it’s a good example of how pervasive instability of ownership can be - Alan Hardy had gone full Emperor Nero by that point and it seemed to destroy everyone at the club from top to bottom, even though he was still pumping a lot of money into the club

Looks like this Stones lad has played about 20 games in his career so far, absolutely mad money from York if true.

We played them in a pre-season friendly 2-3 years ago. Their new ground is in the middle of nowhere and is tinpot beyond belief - truly awful!

Give me Bootham Crescent anyday!
