All done at Notts for the day. Good window for me with Jarvis, Whitaker, Johnson and Traore in - only Crowley out.

People will moan and yeah are we a bit fucked if the likes of Bass, Platt, Palmer, Abbott get injured? Yeah it’s a blow, I’m not sure who you’re signing on deadline day that would make that not a blow and also be happy to sit on the bench for the rest of the season so it is what it is.

In Montague and his proprietary software we trust
I'd have liked a keeper, the rest of the squad is pretty flexible unless we get a fluke, three best players out injury crisis.

I wouldn’t have minded, but with Stone gone we’re down to two senior ones so can loan someone if one of them gets injured anyway. Probably makes more sense than bringing someone in just to put the cones out at training.

Yep I’m happy with that, if we were going to sell a key player everyone would’ve chosen Crowley, and looks to be plenty of potential in what we’ve brought in. Options in midfield are absolutely fine IMO.
I've never been quite as fond of Crowley as others. There's definite faults in his game and unlike most of our squad he's really only suited to one very specific role. Grant and Whittaker look to be adequate cover and Whittaker may prove to be an upgrade. Certainly had a good game on Saturday.

I don’t think any of the other players we have in that position (Grant, Edwards, Whitaker) look as good as Crowley, but they’re a lot more flexible. Can do different things with them depending on what you need in a certain game.

I thought the Crowley we had up until Christmas in his first season under LW was amazing. Proper attacking midfielder who scored goals and made stuff happen. Whether tactics or just his personality, the main character Crowley who was more of a playmaker I found increasingly irritating to watch. Still, time to move on.

Ripley's departure is a strange one. Likable, felt like a statement signing when we got him to sign with a lot of competition. But my opinion of him dropped massively when he reacted the way he did to being dropped, which was thoroughly deserved. The 1st real challenge for the number 1 shirt, and test of his character, he jumps ship. I knew this was coming during the warm ups at Doncaster before the game and at half time. He was in goal while the subs were having shooting practice. Looked completely disinterested. Swinging a leg at shots within reach. Days later goes off on paternity and Moore brings in another loan keeper.

A month or so ago there was no one that could predict this, but Amos has been brilliant since getting his spot. So not concerned in the slightest.

Wish him luck, but at the same time just feel we've learnt a lot about him these last few weeks.

Ripley conceded 5 goals in his only appearance for us, admittedly many years ago, and every time I have seen him since, he has looked poor, in fact as recently as our game against Vale in December

Apparently we're on about chucking 6 figures at some centre back from the Canadian league. Can we just be normal for a second

Just depends if Robertson will be available at some point for me. If two of Abbott, Hinchy and Palmer are injured we look really light. But I appreciate that it's hard to find someone to come in as that break glass option

I guess the saving grace for a keeper is that we can always get an emergency loan in if we need one right? They still exist?

Still a striker to come in apparently must mean DJ is off if that happens Cheltenham the latest team said to be interested which would make sense Flynny loved DJ here.

Robertson is done for the season. Forgetting Edwards though, who is more natural in that position than where we’ve generally played him.

Yeah fair, I haven't seen him there in a long time though, his best game for us I thought was Grimsby where he was really good pressing high up and he's played there since returning. But it's better than playing Austin there certainly.

There's mistakes in there no doubt. Then he can respond with a motm performance like v Bromley or Notts County. I thought he should have done better with Cooks first in the boxing day game. Spaghetti arms for that.

I think we felt left out seeing Grimsby & Notts being all edgy and shopping in the Faroes & Scandinavia so we’ve decided join in the madness and drop $200k on some kid from Canada

This is the source btw, god knows how genuine it is:

That's Canadian dollars so it's about half that. I guess it's the Berry money.
I don't mind the profile of buying young players with resale potential, I'm just really not sure about the standard of that league at all.

Who knows mate, it’s always a punt when you go shopping abroad anyway. Some work, plenty don’t.

Any that can score a goal more than once a full moon?
If you're prepared to pay a shockingly high wage for a 34 year old, then Matty Taylor still has goals in him.

Scored 7 in 13 in League 1 for us last season, but our style of play simply doesn't suit him this year because we're playing 1 up front.

If you can keep him fit then it’s an excellent signing. Seems to be fine for 3 months then out for 3 months. When he played he was excellent for us.
I’d agree with this. Very good player when fit, yet his entire career seems to have been interrupted with long term injuries. I guess that is why he is in League 2?
