I think Adam Campbell is a very decent signing. So much potential

He was rubbish when he was on loan here last season.

Seems to have a chip on his shoulder from what I've been told too.

Lacey is too light weight and not "mean" enough to play in the league. He is easily bullied by more physical strikers and that was shown time and again when he was called upon last year. Don't know whether his confidence took a knock after Brodie took him out because before that he looked promising and was a starter alongside McNulty.

Robinson, I think his level is the conference, had a few decent performances towards the end of our final season there but was pretty awful in the league and won't get near the first team I don't think with the central midfielders who are here now. He's quite ungainly looking and he just doesn't look like a footballer. I think the clubs ambitions have probably outgrown them and hey won't be given the time they need.

Perhaps a change of scenery will do both some good, of the 2 I'd say Lacey is (perhaps was) the better prospect.

A Gateshead fan also told me he's shit. We actually had him on loan as well but he only played 45 minutes.

If he's been signed for the reserves, we don't have a lot to lose. He's been told he wont be a first team player. The hope is he will come good

Pompey signing Jayden Stockley until January.
Becoming a bit of a journeyman at this level and needs to find a club to settle at soon.

I thought he was out of contract this summer? Seems strange keeping him on, he's never going to make it at the level you guys are at now.

I liked him well enough and he always put a shift in. Not exactly a fear-inspiring signing for Pompey though, certainly the least inspiring of the ones they have made thus far this window.

Yeah no idea, I was certain he was out of contract as well. Would seem weird if we've given him some new terms, although it's not been announced. And if we're hoping someone will eventually pay to buy Stockley then that seems a bit pointless.

Think Doe has only even been linked with us because we do need another centre back or two. Can't see it being anything more than message board talk.
Yeah especially given that we have only one trialist (may change tonight) which is Krystian Pearce, and Muzz has said he's going to take his time on the last "one or two" signings. So looks like we're having a good look at Pearce with a view of signing him, leaving Doe out of the picture for now.

Kelle Roos from Derby to back up #BigRoy. I'd be cool with that, saw him last year for Derby and he looked decent. Only 23 as well so similar situation to Bialkowski when we got him. Be nice to have a proper back-up keeper this season for when Carroll's away with Northern Ireland and give him a rest in cup games too, the bloke's 38 in September.

I liked him and he always put a shift in. I think with some actual service, which he didn't get here, he might work out alright.

When we had Zubar last year on loan from Bournemouth, a few people spoke of how he was out of contract this summer. It turned out that promotion to the Premier League triggered a contract extension of sorts for him, maybe the same happened with Stockley? AFCB_Mark may be able to shed some light on the likelihood of this.

That's a point actually, there's a chance that's the case. Whatever has happened, it seems Jayden has another 12 months under contract here. Another year to impress some club somewhere enough to take him on permanently.

That Zubar one was laughable, shows how incompetent football clubs can be with contracts.

The best was Southampton giving fringe players long contracts with promotion clauses. Lee Barnard and Jon Forte had their wages doubled and then doubled again after the 2 promotions. That was why Forte just had loans everywhere and we could never sign him permanently, he wanted to sign for us a couple of times but he was sat on £15k a week(!!!) there and quite rightly didn't want to write it off but of course Southampton didn't want to pay him off either.

I think Stockleys been signed as cover, he'll get some game time, score a few goals.

Would definitely prefer that to Shwan Jalal.

I've now just about accepted that Kyle Dempsey will be sold this summer.

I'm just hoping we hold out for the fee that he's worth. £400k is a piss take and was rightly rejected.

To be honest if Barnsley can afford him at all we know we've sold him for too little, hopefully we can hold out and end up keeping him until January at least.

I always think if you're going to sell your best player it's best to do so in the summer. Summer = More replacements available. That said, another good half season and his value should rocket. So yeah in this case I'd probably accept selling him in January and who knows maybe Hery will be a good ready made replacement.

Ideally I'd like another full season out of him, a new (long term) contract signed and a huge fee next summer.

I expect we'll keep him this summer... Curle seems set on the idea and Dempsey knew there were clubs after him when he put pen to paper the other month and seems to favour spending another season at least at Carlisle. The only thing that could throw a spanner in the works is the board.

Actually scrub that, he'll definitely be sold for an undisclosed fee.

If he had the highest potential of any player on Football Manager than that probably explains why we signed him... good old Greg Abbott.

Southampton's current Head of Recruitment admitted he used to use the Football Manager database as a scouting tool while he was at Huddersfield recently. Didn't Everton have some kind of partnership with the game makers a little while ago too?

It's not the worst way in the world to get a vague, very basic idea of a player's strengths and weaknesses tbh. Each team has a researcher who goes to 90%+ of their team's games and reserve team fixtures etc, so the players are being rated by someone who sees them play a lot. On the other hand, "potential" is such a vague and subjective concept, it's completely worthless as a measure of that.

I remember we signed Franz Burgmeier after the chairmans grandson telling him how amazing he was on Football Manager and that you could get him on a free.

Wouldn't use it as law mind i took Harrogate town from conference north to premier league, picking up 2 FA trophies, 1 JPT and a league cup (to give me Europa League qualification) in 7 years and i still haven't been offered the pissing England job

SPENCER IN DEMAND

Notts County striker Jimmy Spencer is attracting interest from a host of League One clubs.

The 23-year-old is heading into the final year of his contract at Meadow Lane and Blackpool, Fleetwood and Barnsley are all keen on signing the Leeds-born player.

If Jenner is fit and still has some legs left then his pedigree is too good for League Two. Reckon this one might be a big if, though.

Interesting one, with what RT is saying with regards to a goalscorer coming in, positions 9 and 10, this is very interesting.
I don't "think" he will want a move now though having just got back to full fitness and in what could be a great footballing side next season.

Imagine we'd want a decent fee too after all the work we put into him last season.

If I were a Notts County fan I would be worried about this influx of foreign players. Do they all have the same agent by any chance? You will either finish 3rd or 3rd from bottom i think.
