Hopefully he moves on - simply not good enough last season and he had plenty of chances.
After watching the play off games I couldn’t believe Rose stayed on the pitch. Completely ineffective and didn’t look anything like a striker. Has a bit of ability but so lightweight. Looks more an attacking mid than a forward

Any chance of your lot being back in for Grant? I guess not as his loan spell seemed a little underwhelming? Critical summer for him really, at a crossroads of realising his obvious potential or fading away. On a good wage and long contract at Forest, but no chance of him forcing his way into the first team picture there I don’t think.

Nothing from our end, I don’t want him back either to honest, Lincoln interested 100% and Oxford rumoured are too. His form after the first month was woeful, and he seriously struggled with the physical aspect because teams pinpointed him out.

I’ll be surprised him working well with a Cowley Lincoln to be honest, but in the right team I’m sure he will be a good player at L1 level.

Rose was completely devoid of confidence and quality last season but Rose when on form is a really good L2 striker.

Nixon reckons we should sign Jay O'shea and Nicky Maynard this coming week. Mayor a possibility also.

Was great on loan but went downhill fast when he signed permanent. Was responsible for the worst goal I have ever seen us concede away at bury this season.

Was well documented that he had a fall out with the owner and was kept out of the matchday squad for the second half of last season mainly. A change of scenery might do him good though as their certainly is a player in there.

Darragh McAnthony has confirmed we're in for our old loanee from 2017 Callum Cooke from Peterborough.

Would be a huge upgrade on Shaun Miller (who has been linked with a couple of National League clubs) in that role behind the target man but sadly either the fee for a permanent transfer or the wage contribution for a season long loan seems to be the stumbling block right now. I do think we'll get Cooke in the end mind as he really did enjoy his time playing for us. I just hope a lack of game time hasn't caused him to regress since 2017.

I know it’s not a position that’s a priority but Cooke would be an immense signing, a proper show of ambition imo.

Sadly, think it’s pie in the sky. McAnthony saying we’re ‘way off’ suggests we’re basically window shopping.

Agree with this he didn’t live up to expectations and I think a change of scenery may benefit him can play LB or RB wouldn’t be at all surprised to see him kick on and have a good season

Sounds like he’d be a good signing.

Thanks, guys.

Anybody in contract will be paid wages and a fee demanded, Mayor out of contract and only hanging on in the vain hope out twat of a chairman pays him some money before he signs a contract. Would expect a North West club mind.

There may well be a legal issue here as to whom is actually still in contract, given the less than regular salary payments.

Yes he’s quality, gutted we didn’t try and sign him. Good shot stopper tall and very calm always looks in control. Decent distribution particularly throwing were he can launch it accurately past he halfway line. A very good keeper for L2
Agree totally.

Another part of Flipflop's weak management last season, he clearly didn't rate Rose as highly as Walker or Davies from the get go but didn't have to bottle to sell a favourite with the fans and board. Danny's head had been turned by the fat man last summer and didn't have a proper pre season with "injuries" so he never really got going. His luck was summed up by the disallowed goal against Oldham, nothing would quite go for him.

That said, I think he can have a future here, like you say when on form Rose is as good as you'll get at this level. He will find it hard with Cook and a fully fit Davies but he's good for at least 10+ goals a season.

The latest rumour is Jake Jervis to us.

No thank you. From what I hear he’s been shite at Luton and AFC Wimbledon.

Did ok at Plymouth but I’d want better than that

Davies is 33 and one injury from retirement I imagine, hopefully he stays fit this season.

I’m not so sure regarding flip flop Alan, I think the radford had a price that they wouldn’t budge on and nobody thought Rose was worth that. Especially to Steve Evans and Peterborough, I bet they wanted £300k+ whereas if we got a fee similar to what we paid for Cook now I imagine we would sell if Dempster was not dead on keeping him.

That being said if he’s not playing and January comes round and I supported another L2 club I’d want them to take a punt for around £100,000 but it’s unlikely due to last season goal tally.

Imagine the shithousery with Rose and Cook upfront? Be brilliant, you usually don’t get the forward pairing you expect in football.

Anyone fancy a raffle on how long it is until Mansfield sign a forest player on a season long loan? :)

He was in our academy I think. Can’t say I’ve ever seen him play. Know if he’d any good?

He’ll be the second Gateshead player we’ve signed this window.

Dunno all that much about him, was POTS for Gateshead, likes to get stuck in, we were in for him but compo is needed so ruled us out.

Local radio 'understands' Rob Hunt will be joining. Which means it's done. Defence probably sorted now.

Nice one. One more ‘creative’ midfielder - possibly Bennett - one lumpish striker, pad out with loans and job’s a good ‘un.

Pretty content with our business so far. Building from the back.

Our more exciting signings to come I hope.

Apparently we're going to announce a defender with Championship and L1 experience today.

Hopefully experience means experience and not a kid who got a dozen starts in the last two seasons. Doesn't have to be a world-beater, we just need a defender who knows his way around strikers at this level because so far none of our defenders have any league experience at all. Honestly I'd have Gerrard and Liddle back for the experience they'd bring.

signed Byron Webster on the infamous ONE-YEAR-DEAL fits the bill for experience though

Scunthorpe fans, had a really short spell there, how did he get on?
