9 days until the start of the season and Carlisle United still don't have any strikers.

Absolutely pathetic.

The forum wouldn't be the same without characters like Hello
Plenty a laugh has been had reading SERNWA and Viking Magpie in the past.

Once Carlisle are comfortable in mid table and safe we can all give him pelters
Can't remember if it was before Vale arrived in L2, but we made him do a forfeit one season after we survived. He wasn't allowed to be negative for a whole season (though I think enforcement of that didn't last beyond the summer)

Jordan Lyden - free agent after leaving Villa - is just about to sign.

Fill the DM role nicely. Wonder if he can play wearing a suit of armour?

Thought Kwame is banging them in for fun ?
He scored 2 against Tranmere, but was shit in the previous game. He’s obviously no where near fit enough either. He may well get a contract, but he’ll have to improve his all round game.

To be fair one of his against Tranmere was a great finish, the other one I’d expect Richie Bennett to score it.

If lyden keeps clear of injuries you got one good player but I think you will be lucky to get 25 games out of him

Macc fans seemed to like him, but when he turned out for us, he didn't even look like a footballer. I'm shocked that you're paying a fee.

Really?

I hadn’t realised.

Thank god you don’t go fucking banging on about it :animatedf:
That was actually the first time I’d posted about it being 9 days till the season and still no striker.

We've agreed a fee for Zak Jules from Macclesfield.

He’s ok, good enough to play bottom end L2, but I would have thought Walsall would have aspirations a bit higher than Zak Jules. I think Jules can be replaced by some of our new signings quite easily. When Cameron goes however.....

And we don't have a goalkeeper (though have just posted we're about to announce a signing).

Jules is fine, no where near as bad for us as he apparently was for Vale (claims from that ITK account that championship clubs were interested are laughable though), but then again he was under the tutelage of the Greatest Mind so may have just been that.

We have re-signed Lewis Alessandra from Notts County.

That's probably us sorted now, I would still however like another centre midfielder though to replace Fleming after his retirement. Hopefully there's something else in the pipeline.

Update: we have a goalkeeper and can now actually field a full team. Signed 22 year old Owen Evans from Wigan on loan for the season. Similar approach worked well last year with O'hara being our best player.

Now we just need a kit to play in...

A fee !!!!!!!
Wow , although we all are guilty of OTT stuff he is genuinely in the worst 5 players I've ever seen to disgrace the Vale shirt, and believe me it's a huge list to pick from.

Obviously improved beyond belief at Macc as he looked like a new born foal in his one and only appearance for us.

The fact you are paying a fee is staggering

Alessandra’s last three teams York, Pools and Notts County have all been relegated, the bloke is a Jonah, conference next year I’m afraid, the Lewis has made his decision...

We’ve got 19 year old right back, Charlie Seaman on trial and is playing for us at Taunton tonight.

Was released by Bournemouth in the summer and spent part of last season on loan at Dundee Utd.

Worth a look as that’s one area we’re light.

Could be signing a couple tomorrow. Jordan Lyden and Lloyd Isgrove seem most likely. Still desperate for a striker or two.

David Holdsworth seems to be going completely against his managerial career mantra of just signing anyone and everyone.

One of my favourite Holdsworth transfers was when we tried to sign Mark McCammon from Braintree but as the deadline approached, they dragged their heals over his registration and being purposefully awkward. So, Holdsworth gave his mate at Sheffield FC a call, who duly signed him quickly without any problems with Braintree and they then loaned him to us on the same day within hours.

Luke Imp What's that Kellan Gordon like? We've signed him.
We didn't see enough of him, tbh.

The only notable thing he did was score against you (and maybe the winner against FGR?). He was generally a cup player for us, and only made the odd appearance from the bench in league games. To be fair to him, he had Andrade and Anderson in front of him on either wing so he was never going to get too much game time - he was just a squad filler along with the other back-up winger, Joan Luque (who also left in January).

Wasn't one anyone really wanted to keep when his loan spell was up in January. Just one of those players that came, didn't leave any kind of impression and left.

I only saw him a couple of times and I was far from impressed. I think he may have been seen as OK with us because we were so fucking bad even I would have stood out in that side.

A fee for someone who isn't very good, we only signed in Jan and weakens another side is great business!!!

We had him on loan along with Timi Elsnik from Derby. Whilst Elsnik at times looked a cut above, Gordon was a handy enough loanee. I think we played him RB from memory although he was quite versatile and he played 26 times and scored 3. I genuinely couldn't tell you anymore than that. I imagine he'll be a handy enough player in L2.

I really like him. Gutted to be losing and played really well as a left sided CB. He obviously struggled at Vale but he's only young and built like a brick sh*thouse. Very quick too. Good signing for you guys!!!

He’s almost certain to be #2 in a RB/RWB role because of Haydn White but he does have a few injury problems at the moment and will probably miss our first league game so he might get a early chance to impress.
