Pompey like breaking hearts. Try scoring a goal in the last minute to take the lead and seal a trip to Wembley but still managing to loseJust been knocked out, lost on penalties to Portsmouth. Bit disappointing as we led by two goals at two points during the first half but can have no complaints with the result or the performance generally.
First goal well taken from List, second as a result of pressing/a big old fuck up at the back. Portsmouth pulled one back, nice goal from Curtis. Our third came from a set piece, an all mighty scramble, Cuthbert able to divert the ball towards goal. Second Pompey goal came right on half time, definite penalty, converted easily by Evans. Portsmouth were better second half, clearly a step up from them, the leveller came with the ball played down the side of Prosser and he couldn't keep pace with Marquis who rattled one in to the top corner. We managed to see the remainder of the game out so the match went to penalties. 3-1 to them in the shoot out, their keeper saving three.
Lined up in a 4-3-3, worked well at times in the first half, we pressed well but out of possession we seemed to find ourselves under threat down the flanks. Switched to a 4-4-2 which aided us defensively. Cuthbert and Prosser solid and dealt with everything thrown into the box, look vunerable to anyone with a bit of pace though which could prove a problem. Overall I'm pretty content, got to remember we were playing a side in the division above and it was levels above the shite we delivered last season.
I get that teams are rusty but calling Pompey's defending for your second goal calamitous would be kind, it was like something out of Benny Hill.Just been knocked out, lost on penalties to Portsmouth. Those words “integrity of the competition” again. Do us a favour EFL. By starting this competition on an international weekend and before the league season starts lessens this cup massively.Big GC is fuming.

According to a Preston fan on here they wouldn't have expected to miss anyone had the game been played next weekendThose words “integrity of the competition” again. Do us a favour EFL. For what it’s worth, Norwich will be without 15 players next weekend against us and the EFL are allowing it. Integrity?

Mark Cooper running scared again. Last season only got cancelled so Forest Green didn’t have to host us, and now he fixes it that they play us but with no fans. The coward.
no Southern beer is decentMillwall manager has said he will put out a strong team against Crawley tomorrow but I've since heard they have six injuries and two international call ups.
Our manager says we have no injuries but is then contradicted by new club captain, George Francomb, who says he has a knock and will not be ready for the game.
I'm off to a bbq where we will stream the game before going to flip the burgers and down a few, socially distanced, pints...let's hope its not Sussex bitter (Harvey's Sussex Bitter is actually quite decent).
