One of our players has tested positive for Covid, no clue if it will impact the game going ahead or not.

Not confident. We haven't been pulling up any trees in pre season and it sounds like we are still experimenting with the starting line up. Might be a repeat of the last time we played as Ashton Gate - we lost 4-0

New Carlisle United team which I’m expecting good things from this season, at least mid table, but too many players out with or carrying injuries tomorrow and I think we’ll fall short at Oldham.
Oldham seem less well prepared for the season than most. Not sure what to expect from them but feel we've been handed a decent draw.

Jeremy Beadle will not be amused if the game is called off given I bought a £10 ifollow pass just before that Scunthorpe rumour was first leaked.
We've confirmed the game will still go ahead as planned

The game between the Czech Republic and Scotland, scheduled for Monday, has been postponed because two Czech players have tested postive for the virus. I'm surprised that the same rule doesn't appear to apply to a game in this country...mind you the rules across the UK vary from country to country so maybe this shouldn't come as a shock.

Obviously this isn’t Vale or Scunthorpe’s say to have the game go ahead but the EFL are playing with fire here by not postponing the game. If there is an outbreak as a result of this someone’s head needs to roll.

Scandalous we should be awarded the tie :eye:

I am surprised by that decision, not that the tie should be awarded to us, happy to play it but without knowing when the result came back it’s hard to say.

Issue is if only just come back positive the ones who tested negative may still have the virus at an early stage.

The player could be a youth team player or someone injured who has had no interaction with our first team squad but I am not sure. I agree that it is playing with fire though as it could easily lead to an outbreak, not sure who's call it is to postpone/forfeit the game though.

If it was postponed we'd be in the hat for the 3rd round draw tomorrow !!
Apparently drawing both the 2nd and 3rd rounds at the same time .

They are yes as the games are literally weekly so 2nd round in 10 day’s and the third a week after.

Watching the interview with Cocu earlier, you can tell he couldn't give a shit about this game v Barrow.

I know it's away for them to start, but I can't stress enough how difficult, especially come the winter, a match at Barra is. Some teams are going to be in for a real culture shock.

Agreed when you can Breath that radiation coming from the docks. Feel the icy wind blowing from the Cumbrian mountains.
Dim lit rows of coronation st houses stretch as far as the eye can see. Many with the latest cladding.
You Enter Holker street and the locals are all stood about in there 70s flares......
You cannot wait to get back on the M6 to civilisation

Are Harrogate the first club ever to play in the league cup before ever playing a game in the Football League?

Seems like the Scotland versus Czech Republic game might now go ahead, regardless of the players testing positive for COVID, at least according to the wishes of UEFA,

Barrow holding their own pretty well here. Angus should have done better when through on goal really, nice show of speed though to get in that position though.

Crawley played a preliminary round against Wimbledon when they got promoted before the start of their first season. That makes Harrogate the 2nd unless there have been other occasions I am not aware of.

Pretty happy with our first-half display. Kept the shape well and tried to play some passing football - the two chances missed will come back to haunt us though.

The team selection is a bit of a surprise though, as there's two or three that I thought would be definite back-ups.

I’ve been quite impressed with Barrow. Very organised with and without the ball, hold their shape well.
Jones and Platt and the back seems like a great pairing. You could have unearthed a real gem there in Jones. Not sure about Ntlhe though, he could be a weak link (I’m surprised he’s playing at LCB instead of LWB)

lost on pens - but put up a good display. had 3 good chances to score, but didn't quite manage it.
James Jones and Platt is a very young but promising partnership at the back Brough who was one of 3 we were missing will be the LCB when fit. Missed the suspended Quigley up front and still need to get a striker in as back up but otherwise looking good.

Forgot to watch, but well done Barrow. Us Cumbrian teams love a penalty shootout at Derby.

Our line up for Oldham, positions guessed by the commentators:
