I'm a Nigerian. I don't get the opportunity to get an on-pitch details, about most of my favorite English teams, but with as much effort as I could afford, I selected these five teams I would be tipping for a winning at the Bookies. I'd like to get your views about the Selections below. Thanks, as you do!!!

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Newport County
(Wolverhampton to win by, at least, 2 goals)

Charlton Ath. Vs Dagenham

Sheffield Wednesday vs Mansfield Town

Ipswitch Town vs Stevenage FC

Cardiff City vs AFC Wimbledon

..... These are the five teams I considered most likely to win. Would you, for any reasons, disagree with this pick???

Welcome to the forum mate.

As you said they're all favourites for a reason and you'd expect them all to win on paper, but the League Cup has a habit of springing a surprise or two. Sometimes clubs in the Championship will field a weaker side or not take it as seriously, but it's hard to guess which teams will mess up. I'm glad you haven't included Bristol City though, as we are truly awful in this competition and I expect a defeat against Luton!

The selection is based on assumption that even if all five teams would field a weaker team, the outcome should still be favourable. Except for Iptswich Town I'm feeling a little itchy about their defense which a Stevenage may shock up when too open, the rest look satisfactory to me. Have there been any major upsets to any of the teams in this competition recently?

http://www.european-football-statistics.co.uk/england.htm This site should help you mate, click on each club and it will show you how what round they got to in each year. Will help pinpoint any teams that have a particularly bad record.

I know Wolves have been knocked out in round 1 by League Two sides in the last 2 seasons, and both of those games were under Kenny Jackett who they have currently so it could be a risky one. Don't take my advise too much though, I haven't won an accumulator for ages haha

Thanks about that, Aaron.

I see Newport suffering (at least till January) this season. If a team would Jerk Wolves, I don't see Newport capable of that. I'd check up the link and feed you back on what I make of it. Thanks a whole lot!!!

Lump on Luton to beat us! Easy money. We,ve been knocked out by lower lwague teams every year for the last 6 years or so.

You haven't listed it but our record against Orient isn't great either. We are set to make few changes and possibly a few debuts.

IIRC correctly we have been knocked out of the Carling Cup in recent years by Morecambe and Northampton.

We might make 15 changes to the team that faced Blackburn. Certainly wouldn't want to bet on Wolves to win.

Bet on us to lose on penalties to Colchester.

But you're playing against Newport County.... A team that just lost 3:0 to Oxford United, has about three (or more) of their key players injured and is a bid unsettled at the back-end (at the moment). Wolves shouldn't lose this one.... It's a Handicap for Wolves.

The League Cup doesn't always follow form. Changes are likely to be made. I expect us for example to make 6/7 maybe more changes for our game

You do appreciate that Championship sides tend to put out reserve sides against Carling Cup opposition, don't you? Current form means nothing. The history books are full of lower league sides beating top opposition. And Wolves.

For what it's worth I think we'll lose to Newport too. Wolves and Cup competitions don't mix.

Do you get emails from English Lords saying you've won the lottery?

We will probably lose at Southend. Hughton will ring the changes, and we have very little in reserve currently. Plus it just seems like the sort of fixture we'd struggle in.

We will probably lose. I wasn't planning on going but if a few of our new signings are playing it might be worth a ticket.

I reckon Crewe will put one over us. Only for the reason we are looking at survival in the league before cup glory.

Much more interesting than the results in the early rounds of the League Cup thing is the line-ups. It gives an indication of how deep and strong the squads of all the different Championship clubs are.
For us it will be interesting to see the likes of Jordan Graham, Bradley Reid, Bright Enobakhare, Sylvain Deslandes, Eusebio Bancessi, Conor Ronan and possibly even Ashley Carter and Declan Weeks. I'm sure at least five of them will play. And then be out on loan at a L1 or L2 club by the end of the month.

We're 6/4 to beat Doncaster on Thursday which I think is a decent price. Only because we don't have a huge squad so it's still likely to be a pretty strong team put out. Not sure whether Donny are good at the moment but I'd fancy a decent Leeds team to do the job.
