Sorry but the only image I get when I think of Millwall, which has been for my whole football supporting life, is hooligan fans, nothing else.

Do any of their 'decent' fans ever come out and speak against this sort of thing where it matters? And has their club ever came out and said it's doing everything it can to stop it and has the club ever done anything good or charitable?

I think it's time they really get punished for this, it's embarrassing and has nothing to do with football, so if they must be animals and fight each other for a laugh then they should find a field and do it away from actual football fans and members of the public.

Also it doesn't help them whenever a hooligan movie gets made and Millwall are always the antagonist hooligans. But I wonder why that is ey?

"No smoke without fire" has to be one of the most wilfully ignorant lines of argument that you can use in a debate. You're essentially saying "I don't know much about this subject, but I'm going to extrapolate until I find an answer that confirms my suspicions."

For what it's worth, the reason Millwall fans are often the antagonists in football hooligan stories is because members of Millwall firms have very rarely written or spoken about their experiences, while the exact opposite is true of West Ham 'Top Boys'. You like inferring stuff, so have a little think on that.

Has any of the media talked about the Barnsley fans trying to break through the cordon on the walkway half an hour before the game, or the missiles thrown from that side? We don't want to take all the credit!

Just reading about a FIVE year old Barnsley supporter who was hit with a bottle on his 'day out' and taken to hospital.
If being abhorred by that makes me a 'sad cnut', so be it.
Something has to be done.

Of course, this is about that and nothing else. Of course.

They didn't travel half way round Wembley from what I've seen there's a line of coppers and stewards on the halfway line and mainly it's just a bit of goading with the wall fans pretending they wanna get through basically showing off. The odd 1 might of sneaked through. The fans running round the top tier are barnsley fans running off which I do agree they shouldn't have too.

Don't think there was any more barnsley fans on the top tier other than the few hundred on halfway line
I was in the upper tier and I along with everyone else around me had to flee down the concourse and round the stadium for fear of being set upon by the numerous Millwall fans that charged the flimsy line of stewards. There were coins and all sorts of bottles and other stuff being thrown by their fans with no regard for the fact that families with young kids and older people made up a decent percentage of our fans up there.

99% of Millwall fans I'm sure were just there to watch the game and cheer on the team they love. The minority in the upper tier were there solely to cause trouble and it's telling that it isn't the only time recently that this minority have tried charging at opposition fans. Almost ruined what was otherwise a fantastic day for us.

Note the Charlton fan standing up for us, given our fans share the same areas generally and thus comes across Millwall fans frequently. A much more valued opinion than most on this thread.

I don't get the big deal being made over all this.

Like I've said before, I have plenty of Millwall supporting mates all of whom are good blokes and are also sick of the few idiots that keep dragging the club's name through the dirt. In fact, most of them are probably more timid than most Charlton fans I know!

Of course I also know some right gobby twats but it will come as no surprise to you that these are the ones that rarely go to games and are probably the type of fools to play up at these sort of games.

All this 'Millwall are always at it' is bollocks, I can't recall any real trouble in games between us, only our first year back in the Championship after a 0-0 draw when it was Charlton fans throwing a flare and a couple of seats on to the pitch.

I highly doubt the Barnsley fans on the other side of that seg were just sitting there watching the game, I'm sure there would have been some goading of the Millwall fans and those fans will have to take some responsibility for any families and kids being frightened.

I will repeat what I said for clarity Jockney.
I have no problem with Millwall at all, absolutely none. I enjoy the atmosphere when we play there. What I do have an issue with is the lowlifes that attach themselves to your club when you have a 'big' game. They're no more a Millwall supporter than I am.
If there are answers or ideas that come from the club then all power to you but the Associations (FL, FA) need to be proactive and rid the game of these people.
Millwall are NOT the only club this applies to by the way.
I hope that clarifies where I stand on the issue as I do not mean any offence to Millwall F.C and its' true supporters.

Not that I wish to ignite any arguments, but do Millwall fans reckon the perceived reputation of the club attracts certain idiots to big games? Seem to recall this sort of crap happened last time at Wembley, yet I rarely hear of any major incidents at regular games.

Whenever we've played Millwall recently there's been little or no trouble (we played em a few times home and away towards the end of the last decade), and to be honest I think a few let them down with things like this. The club tries so hard to shake the 'troublesome' reputation. Lets not forget every club has a minority of idiots.

Last time they were there they were fighting with each other last time we were there our fans were on numerous occasions but you only hear about it cos it's millwall. If that was bristol rovers v sheff utd yday and the minor stuff that took place happened I guarantee no one would even know about it.

Tell me of all this trouble millwall cause every couple of weeks
Well a 5 minute google search shows incidents at 7 matches involving Milwall in 2016 and 4 of them are since April 2016. Probably more if I dig deeper

Make that incidents at 6 different matches since April 2016, unprecedented stuff in modern football

Ahhhhhh really them plastic bottles must really hurt. I know there's no need for it but come on worse things happen in my local on a Friday night. I'm sure the throwing of objects were being returned by some barnsley fans. Ott reactions at its finest.
Did you miss the bit where I mentioned families having to flee down the concourse because of those Millwall fans? Do you think that's acceptable at a football match?

I've no doubt some of our idiots were goading the Millwall fans but that's not really an acceptable excuse for what happened is it.

So it's not just millwall fans fault then is it if your fans were giving it back. I'd love to know where all the bottles came from did all these mindless thugs all happen to be drinking bottles of water/coke while the match was going on. Man up ffs same old story it's always the families/disabled/kids I'm sick of hearing it. The photos I've seen there still plenty of women/kids still watching the game looking like they've not got a care in world right next to the line of stewards.

I'd upgrade your internet connection fella. 5 min search. Would be 0.35 seconds for most. Unless you meant you had to go back dozens of pages?

Not been on here since Sunday, been too gutted.

Poor performance from us, not helped at all by losing 3 of our back 4 before halftime, Romeo suspended, Webster in the warm up and Martin in the first half. Wouldn't have conceded the 1st and 3rd goals with those 3 on the pitch. But can't complain about the result as we played poorly.

Good news with Webster signed up for another season, just need to keep Beevers as well and we should be there or there abouts next season.

Thought we played fine in terms of effort, but were hampered by poor tactics. The fact that we were playing a very good side in excellent form did not help, either.

GILLINGHAM
Gillingham match last game of the season
I am not known for defending Millwall, far from it, but there really wasn't that much trouble at our place.
The biggest problem was caused by the police limiting the number of tickets we could give them to about 1,100 which was never going to be enough.
There were quite a few Millwall in the home ends but very little trouble in the ground.
There was a bit of a tear up at the station but again it was six of one and half a dozen of the other.
Millwall do have more than their fair share of trouble makers but the amount of 'serious' trouble is pretty small these days.
I also feel that Millwall are a victim of their own history in as much as they do seem to attract people who 'support' Millwall purely because of their reputation. They seem to want to be part of a top firm and actually revel in it.

I'm amazed that in this thread we've drawn defence from Gillingham and Charlton fans.
Clearly we really aren't all that scary anymore, despite what the Coventry fan thinks.

Craig, I don't really like to have a go at other Barnsley supporters on a neutral forum, but you're coming across as almost as big a cap end as Bluntman and the Millwall scummers. You were not sat anywhere near the incident but clearly you haven't bothered to read any of the other Barnsley forums as you might be a bit better informed.

Bluntman - keep your snout out. Have a chip butty, put some Tony Currie videos on and live in the past like the rest of your supporters. You haven't got a clue.

I was sat near where Jamo was and it was horrendous. Not for me so much but there were women and children there. The scummers broke through the netting and into our section and were throwing coins and punches indiscriminately. I was hit by a coin myself - not so much of a problem but that could have easily hit a child as they were raining down on us at one point (must have been giro day).

There were hundreds of scummers walking from the other side of the stadium to join in and I think that panicked our young fans even more. Were the Millwall scummers being goaded? Of course they were. They were getting hammered in the most important match of the season. Comes with the territory. It happens all the time, but most fans just give it back verbally. That is NOT an excuse so do not try and use it one.

Basically, ballacks to Millwall, ballacks to anyone who defends them, and I would say ballacks to Neil Harris but that might be a bit harsh.

Look at all the petrified Barnsley fans from 2.00 mins in.

Throwing punches at Millwall fans, goading them. In fact shortly after two Millwall fans get punched and end up falling down a few rows.

Only when Millwall start fighting back and get through, Barnsley start trotting off.

Sneering digs at working class people, the 'women and children' cliche and a below-the-belt joke about a bloke's battle with cancer.

Keep it classy yourself, mate.

Both sets of fans at it just as much . Fair play to those stewards though they get paid fuck all and shouldn't have to deal with that for that long where the fuck were the police the useless twats. Not doing there job yet again. Whoever posted that video just got a lot of people banned.
