After seeing Coventry today Mowbray has got one hell of a job to do there. They looked so flat and out of ideas it wouldnt suprise me if they went down which would be a shame as its a good club. Looking like 4 from 5 now with the gap growing.

Mowbray has a massive job, with games running out and midweek games almost every week he has little time on the training field to turn it around as well.

At least Mowbray knows what he is doing, he will address the problem and I think we will get in a few more loans to give us the edge in the relegation battle.

Massive win for us with tough games coming up. A nice 7 point cushion now, and the bottom 5 are cut abit adrift again.

Results went for us so 7 point gap heading into a horrible few games where we will do well to get a single point. 9 points to go to probable safety, so close yet so far.

We were still pretty poor today, 15 minutes after half time aside we looked like a team ready to go down. We just create nothing and those who thought losing Uche (and thanks Uche, Donny, Watford, Mr Agent, warming that bench must be doing your career wonders!) wasn't going to effect us will probably be having a rethink. Can't underestimate the loss of Garratt either, despite the clean sheet today.
There is a way to attack and score goals without Uche you know. Thing is, we struggle to break teams down, but they for the most part aren't exactly slicing us open either, at home anyway. 4 straight clean sheets at home. Oldham, Crawley, Orient and Walsall to come at Gresty Road. If we can grind out results in those home games as we have done since October, then we'll stay up. We won't lose every away game between now and the end of the season(immortal last words). I'm not overly concerned.

I have got a bad feeling that appointing Mowbray may well go against us for the first few games. He hasn't managed at this level before and I doubt he has a clue about any of these sides we are coming up against. Not only that, 80% of the squad he has probably never seen play before this week.
He needs to work some magic to turn this around.

Just for reference Coventry fans. Today our performance was as bad as the 5-1 at the Ricoh a few years back. My worst performance under Smith. When I say we didn't get in the Barnsley box once, I mean it. We didn't have one half chance, one shot, one sniff of anything. We were absolutely totally abhorrent all over the place. I'm going to put it down to injuries and Wembley, but Smith needs to get to the bottom of whether he can motivate his own players to perform to some sort of consistency again in the summer.

Awful performance, one of the very worst I can ever remember.

Just had a look at the bbc report and 0 shots on target, we've had that a few time this season.

Shame we've already played you twice, you will probably be gifting all our rivals 3 points between now and the end of the season.

I think a lot of it is down to the players themselves failing to motivate for a league game just a fortnight before wembley, but Smith is being too soft on them. He needs to sit them all down, throw the tea cups and warn players - don't put 100% in now, don't perform now and I'll play others at Wembley. Simple. That's what it is.

Good day that was. Looking back at the team we had, if only we had some of them players still at the club. McGoldrick, Joe Murphy, Moussa, Baker etc.

We even had Cody McDonald on the bench, who has 14 league goals this season, nearly three times that of our top goal scorer...

Yep, you had a good side but we just capitulated as soon as you scored that afternoon. After 16 games without a win I thought that Smith would be sacked or walk after that game. The only time I've ever thought he had nothing left to offer.

You've got enough goals in you to still get yourselves out of it.

To an extent yes, we are creating chances. But we are shocking as a team defensively, we have little shape and every goalkeeper we seem to get throws a few goals in. Our midfield at times is lightweight and out of depth.

We've also lost Romain Vincelot now for 12 months as he did his knee ligaments in todays game :(

36 - Coventry City(34)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
35 - Leyton Orient(34)
34 - Colchester United(35), Crawley Town(35)
33 - Yeovil Town(35)

Forthcoming fixtures:

17th Scunthorpe(34) - 42 points. Sheff U(H), Rochdale(A), Sheff U(A), Notts C(A), Peterborough(H)
18th Crewe(35) - 42 points. Preston(A), Bristol City(A), Oldham(H), Sheff U(A), Crawley(H)
19th Notts County(34) - 41 points. Bradford(H), Rochdale(H), MK Dons(A), Scunthorpe(H), Walsall(A)
20th Coventry(34) - 36 points. Bradford(H), Chesterfield(A), Fleetwood(A), Doncaster(H), Peterborough(A)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
21st Leyton Orient(34) - 35 points. Yeovil(H), Barnsley(H), Crawley(A), Port Vale(H), Coventry(A)
22nd Crawley(35) - 34 points. Colchester(A), Port Vale(A), Leyton O(H), Gillingham(H), Crewe(A)
23rd Colchester(35) - 34 points. Crawley(H), Yeovil(H), Gillingham(A), Swindon(H), Port Vale(A)
24th Yeovil(35) - 33 points. Bristol City(H), Leyton O(A), Colchester(A), Rochdale(A), Chesterfield(H)

From the bottom, Yeovil got a vital home win to drag themselves back into the mix. If they can get anything out of Tuesdays game, they then have 2 massive games against Orient and Col U. Colchester lost away to Rochdale and only have 2 wins in their last 9. These next 3 are surely make or break time for them? Crawley also lost, to Bristol City, but only via a late goal, so I doubt they are too disheartened. They also have some huge games coming up. Orient have lost some of their recent momentum, but its so tight down at the bottom, a win next Saturday against Yeovil and they could jump out of the bottom 4.

Coventry lost at home to the Vale and have some tough fixtures coming up, including 3 tricky away games. Mowbray has his work cut out for him in coming weeks. Notts County drop a place after a heavy defeat to Swindon. They need their home form to come good but are facing 3 stingy teams on their travels plus MK Dons away. They are rapidly getting sucked into the battle. Crewe won at home again, 3 wins and a draw(all to nil) at Gresty Road, its the only thing keeping them away from the bottom 4. The next 3 away games are brutal, quite possible we don't get a single point from them. Relying on the home form massively. Scunthorpe are now without a win in 5 and have some interesting games to come. They aren't out of it at all.

Whilst they aren't totally safe, I think that anyone from Oldham upwards are probably not going to go down barring an incredible collapse. At the moment its 4 from 5, but the 4 sides above them could all easily get dragged back into things.

I Think I was the only one who didn't have them in the top half on the prediction thread pre season on the old forum

We have a £4million wage budget, the highest in the clubs 130 year history. Its embarrassing.

Tonight Yeovil lose and Coventry held at home, not bad results for the rest of us.

Missed opp for Cov. We have a great chance to take something from Bradford on Saturday with them playing Reading just 48 hours later and ease our relegation fears - but having lost 8 out of our last 9 at home it's hard to be confident!

Spencer back in full training and, presumably, will feature again in the coming weeks. Huge for us. :D

Notts County and Crewe are right in/back in this now, Scunthorpe, Walsall and Oldham are all reachable. Anyone above is too far away.

Not a good day for us. But it was always likely to happen. That's why beating Scunthorpe last week was crucial.

Bristol City away next :(

We're in such trouble with 3 away games in a row, I think we're gonna go down.

All about home form for us atm. Our away form is awful and we've got some tricky looking aways games, Oldham, Crawley, Orient, Walsall and Bradford at home will seal our fate. 1 loss in the last 10 home games bodes quite well though.

Yeovil look all but down and Colchester have a mountain to climb. The rest is open with Notts County and Crewe right back in it. Scunny might be nervous but think anyone above that is going to be ok. The only potential wildcard to join it is probably Oldham who (apart from against us) seem to be falling fast.

We'll still go down, with our stupid wage budget as well.

Going as expected. Our March fixtures were/are going to see us fall back into the thick of it.

Think there's prospect of a result against Oldham but otherwise let's just hope other results go for us and get to April.

Its going to be interesting for sure, you have enough to get out of it but I don't think we will go down now either. Crewe, Notts County and Scunthorpe will be getting nervous.

I think its going to be a high amount of points to be safe this year as I see us, you, Crewe and Notts County all getting over 50 points.
