In all honesty, that's a terrible league for carlisle and hartlepool[/QUOTE

Most seasons are a challenge for us, but anything around Manchester to Lancashire coast is sub 2 and a half hours which is local but that involves getting a cross the Pennines one way or another witch can cause bovver, in many ways it's easier to just sit on the A1/M1 and go to the South Yorks clubs and Mansfield. NOTTINGHAM is stretching it to be classed as near but at least it's an easy drive

Well if I'm negative next season I get a 24hr ban so any negativity I have towards the new season will come within the next couple of months.
The 2015/2016 season starts with your first friendly so get it all off your chest quickly and get in training - We want to hear Cumbrian Confidence, Brunton Park Bullishness and Borders Bravado.

As he bury fan says, I suppose we are fortunate that most places are easy to get to thanks to the m1.

Living in Manchester its not so clever, notts county, morecambe, accy, hartlepool, carlisle and York will be my certainties providing they are on Saturdays.

I'll probably do one of bristol rovers, Plymouth and exeter as have mates down in bristol, I aim to actually go to portsmouth this year, I don't really like going to grounds or places around the South East

The London fixtures are easy for our squad. Our club sponsors will provide the train so that will cut they journey by a couple of hours.

Not happy with the signings so far? I don't think they'll exactly be getting us promoted but I also don't think they'll get us relegated.

Happy with the 2 midfielders. Kennedy has the quality to play in a top 7 league two team, Joyce is now a seasoned league two player and should give the midfield some steel and consistency. Vital that we keep hold of Dempsey through.

Concerned by the defence still. Not convinced Raynes will be any better than what we had this season, we still need a right back and 2 more centre backs along with Buddle. I still kind of think we should keep Troy.

I would hope Curle will now be focusing his attention on defence now. We've got a couple of decent strikers, a good midfield and yet the defence is still shit. We don't have a right back yet so that obviously needs doing pronto because most teams have a couple of those to choose from.

Apparently Dempsey is dead set on playing for us next season, getting more game time etc. which is good news for us. No doubt he'll leave after that unless we get promoted, and I don't think anyone would blame him at that stage. He's one to build the team around next season though - get him to play as well as he can and then get as much money for him as we can after it.

A couple of wide players as well, maybe one who can play up front with a bit of pace. Oh and a goalkeeper obviously to replace Gillespie.

Well the make-up of League Two next season is now known
League%20Two%202015-16%20v3.jpg
But have you seen the L1 map? Very "northern" yet nothing north of Fleeetwood (Barrow/Lowestoft travelled further in Conf North than Colchester or Gillingham will need to).

They really do stretch the boundaries in non league don't they, your going to have to do some convincing before I accept Oxford is up north!

When we went down last season, this was one of many questions I asked, trying to understand how it all works down there.

Basically, it's the most southern teams first to fill southern league, then once it's full, everyone else is chucked in the north, purely because there are too many southern teams. It's silly, but actually makes sense

It goes back to when the conference ( alliance premier ) was set up back in the late 70s, they wanted 4 feeders , NW NE SW and SE , but the North East league ( called the Northern league, keep up!) wouldn't play nice. wind on a few years , when the Northern league decided to join in it was put at level 5, even now some teams win it and don't accept promotion, hence the imbalance .

Nice history lesson there. The northern league has been ruin of north east non league football and should be hoyed out of pyramid. Theres some long hauls in non league particulary at top 2 levels. Glad this year 2 actual northern teams have been promoted into confrence premier

They renamed their airport 'London Oxford'.

Reminds me of a Stuart Maconie quote from his book 'Pies and Prejudice' about where the north-south divide it. A lot of people in the south place it around Northampton (the Watford Gap is near there I think).

Maconie saw an advertisement to bring investors to Northampton stating it was 'only 60 miles from London' and commented that no self-respecting Northern town would consider being closer to London than other places something to boast about.

I'll tell you something though, being the thick end of an hour away from the main Rail line with a change is no fun in this day and age. HARTLEPOOL has a train station 200 yds from the ground but if you live in London you might as well come here on your Boris bike, it will be just as quick

That's one advantage of Carlisle. Good rail connections. I have friends in Edinburgh and can get there in just over an hour (if you don't include the hour it takes to get to Carlisle or the hour spent waiting for my connection)

It's 90 miles between Hartlepool and Carlisle yet the bone shaker pacer train takes just under 3 hours to cover it! Our London friends can be in Paris in that time

You're so right , we have a Marina you know, a Pizza Hut, Travellodge, Premier Inn, Vue cinema and if you bring your missus the town centre is packed with Poundlands everything is 99p and the like , so it won't cost you a fortune

All joking aside, if your stopping over, those 2 chain hotels are around the corner from the ground and if you book early enough you'll get a good deal, once there you have 4 decent Indians , you'll start a fight if you ask a crowd of locals to say which is best, they are all good, then you have a choice, a sophisticated drink on the Marina or take your chances on Church Street! there's worse away experiences than a match , a hotel, a curry and a drink all within a 200 yard radius
