I don't think Horton or Askey are anyone's first choice. I'm hoping it's Powell, but can't see it happening.
It depends what the people in control of the club are looking for... Horton for example would be a short term fix so thus the aim of keeping the club in the FL.
Someone like Powell would show longer term ambition to firstly stabilise the club this season and then be looking to get back where we feel we belong... ie League One and onwards. Askey to a degree would be the same outlook but with more of a gamble to it.
Simple fact is we need stability, we had two managers in over two decades up to 2004, even then Foyle did three years but other than the Adams years (and they were interrupted by him going to the Blunts) we’ve gone through multiple managers and instability. Over 50 players singed in the past 14 months and just rebuild after rebuild. We need someone to come in for the longer haul to do one final rebuild and go from there. There is enough in the squad to get out the mess and to comfortable safety with the right man, improvements were seen Saturday in the areas Brown failed at.
What I would like is someone who will develop the kids we’ve got coming through too. First time in years we’ve got some quality youngsters, Turner, Smith, Gibbons, Reeves etc
We need a longer term fix or if a Horton to come with a short term remit and longer term plan to be planned in the meantime to push on.
