Oh dear.

I wonder when they say "what goes around, comes around" really does come true in football.

An appointment that smacks of desperation.

No it doesn't at all. He's got all the attributes to be a top notch manager.

As risky as this appointment is for Chesterfield, I think it might just work out. I'm assuming most of the fanbase is supporting it?

I think most of the fanbase have already been to get his face tattooed on them somewhere.

I don't know anyone who isn't absolutely delighted about it.

I even got my missus to put a Jack Lester mask on last night in the bedroom so I could celebrate in style.

It'll probably put a few more onto their home gate against Cheltenham on Saturday, but Spireites are going on about an extra thousand or so coming back being a good thing.

Those thousand stayaways were clearly negative towards the club, Jack Lester coming back doesn't suddenly make them ultra supportive.
If Cheltenham have got their wits about them, all they have to do is keep it tight for half an hour or so, and it'll remind the stayaways why they've been doing just that until recently. They could very well turn a positive feeling around Lester's appointment into a nervy and negative one.

Lester himself is in a win-win situation. He's a club legend so no matter how shite he does, all the flak will fall into the lap of the clowns running the club. If he fails he can probably go straight back into youth coaching based on his Forest academy accolades, and can preach that his failure at Chesterfield was down to an awful administration and the fact he was working with someone elses signings.

Also I can only assume he's switched on enough to get himself a decent length of contract like the many failures before him, so that he guarantees himself an income for the forseeable just like Saunders managed to. So Jack Lester isn't that stupid taking on an almost impossible job shrouded by negativity. He'll land on his feet if it becomes worse than it already is anyway.

Newcastle never turned on legend shearer when he relegated them. Apart from the fact he had only a few games to keep club up it was the chairmans failures which had effictively sent them down

I propose Harry Kewell's name be mentioned.

I thought he was safe until February because of the gold dust of his name with the owner but we now have the 2nd worst start in the football league and the owner was on hand last night to watch the team fall apart against Newport with Kewell leaving Cox in the stands and Bulman and Payne on the bench.

He will probably just blame the officials - does Kewell spend most of the game shouting at them?

That's a more interesting option

One of the few positives under Smurfs time for me was his development squad idea but that died when he left despite it potentially making us millions in the coming months from that one year alone (imagine if Andoh hadn’t got crocked too!)

He does like to berate the officials a bit but we've had Steve Evans here and it doesn't come close. To be fair the ref last night wasn't good, both sides had reason to complain. For instance a two footed tackle from us no card and a kick in our attackers face when jumping to head the ball, no card.
He actually blamed the players last night! Which is a fair cop but when the managers start doing that they don't tend to last long.

A few people our end have heard that the reason Cox isn't playing is due to financial reasons, apparently you're paying him alot of money on a long contract and of course if he plays x amount of games/goals/assists he can trigger bonuses and contract extensions etc.

Steve Davis said at a fans forum a month ago that we did try and sign him from you and that the reason he wasn't playing for you was financial, but our DOF Martin Ling didn't want to right this minute due to his high wages.

I mean Kewell is an idiot for not playing him, he isn't as good as he was 3 years ago and after his ACL injury but he still has tones to offer.

I think if we fail to win any of the next 4 games (which is extremely possible), Curle will be out.

Cox was in the stands Tuesday and he was asked if he was fit and he replied "yes". He was asked if he will play Saturday and he replied "I doubt it".

There are no rumblings from the club about financial problems, beyond the usual Ines for clubs of our size, with what the terminator says and the dross on offer last night I could imagine he is in a mighty wedge on a paid as you play contract but I have no evidence of that. However; there was a fall out from a game a few weeks ago where Kewell said that players who don't do what he says will not get picked. We have not seen Cox (or McNerney) since then.
I honestly don't know. Either or neither could be true. What I do know is we are not setting the world alight and there's an awful lot if talent not in the team.

Announcement for us tomorrow if rumours are to be true. Part of that announcement will be the removal of Guy Branston which is a positive to start

Cox was excellent for us, but Russell Slade was the only manager to ever really get Cox playing to his top form. From 2010-2014 when Slade was in charge and Cox was with us, he was deliverying top performances every other week without fail in League One, goals and assists virtually every week.

He has been rumoured to have an ego on the training ground. Which only Russell Slade it seems has been able to get keep intact.............Ian Hendon dropped him from our squad completely for an away game at Morecambe back in October 2015 because he apparently had a difference of opinion in terms of tactics I think, which led to an arguement..........

Neil Aspin's odds have been slashed overnight and now as low as 7/4... cut his teeth in non league with Halifax and Gateshead and a Vale legend... would be a hugely popular appointment with the fans, one that was wanted when Adams left in 2014.

Seem to be a new favourite every day so not sure what info the bookies have!

With league 2 managerial jobs odds, you could go and stick £20 on someone and they'd be favourites for the job within an hour, unless they do have genuine info which is doubtful
