I'm a big fan of Gillingham away despite the shoddy away end, far better than crap Southern awaydays like Crawley and Stevenage.

If Shrewsbury wasn't a ground we usually take loads to, they would've been third quite easily.

Gillingham for me. Add Wycombe to that if they come up

Coventry on the train wa sa decent day out, plenty of boozers in town centre - just a shame ground is miles from ote.
There will be a train station opened at the Ricoh soon...

Never overly get why people obsess about Burslem being a shit hole as an away day (let's be honest the drive in from the A500 does go past the worst bit).

Fans moan about grounds being on a retail park with little to do pre game bar pop in Sports Direct or Tesco like Scunthorpe (and there's not even the consolation of a half decent ground either) or Doncaster etc yet Burslem has a couple of really decent pubs (Bulls Head with a BBQ for a start is as good as any you'll find at most away grounds) so location wise it's a bit rough around the edges but if you look in the right places it's got plenty to satisfy an away fan.

Nowt wrong wi Boslem surry, now if ground wer in somewhere lark Shelton or Blurton then folk may av summet moan bite !

Colchester , soulless piece of Meccano in a godforsaken part of Essex
Scunthorpe , should have filmed Logans Run there , because no one in their right mind would want to live past the age of 30 in that dump
Oldham, always -4 even in the middle of summer

Gillingham - Absolute mission from Bury (or Sheffield), the away end I'm not arsed about. I've been to Wimbledon away, an away end where you can only see half of the pitch, so Gillinghams is probably wonderful in comparison. Once had a 5-4 game with the Gills so if they can repeat that they have redeemed themselves.

Colchester - Again, far away and the grounds in the arse end of nowhere. Sparse crowd makes for a dull atmosphere (Bury isn't going to get bums on seats I understand that). Dreadful away support makes for an equally dull home fixture.

Peterborough - Surprised this hasn't got more votes unless I'm out on missing something. The terrace has gone, you now get crammed into the side stand. It's far away so both won't take many fans to either.

In the same way I might enjoy having pins inserted in my eyes, perhaps? At least Layer Road was a proper dump.

To be fair they've visited us on New Years Day and a Sunday morning pre game so hardly the most active time for the pubs!

1. Colchester, just everything about it is bad.
2. Peterborough, terrible seats, bad view, I bang my head walking in all the time and scuff my knees on the seat in front.
3. Gillingham, just what even is that stand.

Top 3 in order in my opinion I'd have to go with.

1. Coventry
2.colchester
3. Gillingham

I'm not really arsed that you'd say that, and there were some dreadful days last season, but as you're a Sheff Utd fan it's a little surprising. The last two seasons you played us in Northampton. The season before it was our first game of the season and fairly lively, and then we played you in the JPT and the atmosphere was excellent. Prior to that we played you in the Championship in front of some very decent crowds (one of 25K+ iirc). Anyhow, hopefully crowds will improve next season and the addition of the station will improve it as a day out.

Personally, I wish the club would just get on a build the new ground they keep talking about.

Blademan doesn't ever stay at the games long enough to know how good the atmosphere is.

There is no atmosphere anywhere. Including our own fans who generally are pretty shit. Off the top of my head the games i left this season before half time or at half time were.

Coventry ( northampton)
Mk dons
Orient
Scunthorpe
Fleetwood
Oldham
Swindon (league game)

In the end we won none of those games so i missed nothing everyone was fucking shit our fans were shit and id much rather be in the pub.

What's the point of buying a ticket and leaving at half time?

3) Scunthorpe United - There's no rivalry between us, it's not a particularly good ground and our recent record there is awful. I think we'd have to be in excellent league form or have massively reduced admission prices for us to take a considerably good following to Glanford Park. It's just a generally bland fixture, and I'm sure the Iron supporters will share the mutual feeling themselves as we're hardly attractive either.

2) Peterborough United - There just isn't anything remotely interesting there for me. We both take equally poor followings to the respective games, nobody really has an opinion on them from what I know, there's no Darren Ferguson there anymore, and their recent success has meant the games against them aren't quite what they were back in League One in the mid-2000s. Not a great ground, and one we don't really travel well to (of course we don't, it's more than 2 hours away!), and isn't really one to get people excited about.

1) Colchester United - Bland. Just nothing games. Definitely the sort of home game that fairweather supporters would rather stay at home, or in the pub for. We'll take the usual paltry 150-200 down to Essex, and they'll bring even less up to Burslem (understandably so) which gives it a next to non-existent atmosphere from both ends. The ground is bland, a typical new-build, and in the arse-end of nowhere. It's a pretty boring away day, if like myself, you travel down on the official coaches (I work nights, so train isn't really an option) and get dropped off right by the entrance with nothing but a few random blokes with a terribly-loud amplifier and guitars, and a random gazebo selling poor alcohol. Definitely the least attractive fixtures of our season now that that small club from West Sussex have fallen into the basement division.
