In a weird way I'm looking fondly towards the Conference - so many grounds I've not been to before.

Losing on a cold windy night away at Fylde isn't my idea of fun and the standard of football is absolutely dreadful. Some teams play okay but having 25 shots v Maidenhead who camp 10 back and hit you on the break for 1-0... the idea sends shivers down my spine.

(I'd actually take that tbh. If there's no money invested Kelly and Massey will be off with the first decent offers and we'll probably follow York and Stockport)

Even Borehamwood would struggle to put out a statement like that!
What sort of guarantees does Andy Edwards have to give the club?
Also, weren't Bowery, McAnuff and Henderson brought in on Bechetti's watch?

On the plus side, if bechetti sells up soon ish (before summer), the mood around the club will instantly lift. might be too late by then though...

Undoubtedly too late. We talk about Newport and Notts County being worse than us for example. We are literally going to be relying on the kids... After January we can't change that.

Not a clue mate. Doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Edwards should walk, he is much better than this crap. Yep, all three of them were.

Looking at what is going on is like going back to the mid/late 90's and our time under Uncle Ken. Sold all our best players for a pittance and left us literally with a pub team before falling into the conference. If there is any solace I can give is look at our journey back, you may even do it without getting beat 8-0 :hypo:

Just when you thought things couldn't get any worse, well.....it did.

So much wrong with that statement, the fact that they've openly slagged off three ex and one current player is embarrassing and unprofessional - Yes we've all thought it at some point, but you can't just say it.

The bit that pissed me off was the part about inheriting a squad with no future, utter bollocks - By far the best Orient side I've seen - To finish 3rd in League One and to lose a playoff final on penalties contradicts everything.

All he's had to do FFS ultimately is to hire a decent experienced manager, but no, he goes for inexperienced yes men or people he feels he can bully - Which is why Kevin Nolan got the boot, because he stood up to him.

Also he's just put alot of unneccessary and unfair pressure on our youngsters, we should not be relying on 17 and 18 year olds to save our bacon - No football club should. Do they not realise this could break their careers before they've even begun? Ok our youth team has been unstoppable in our category for the last 2 years (None of which is Becchetti's legacy, but more Andy Edwards and Matt Porter/Barry Hearn and their planning for the last 5 years), but that doesn't mean they're all ready for a relegation dog fight with gown men FFS.

Blaming everyone but themselves, typical of Becchetti and his cronies - Fuck the lot of them.

I thought us getting beat 5 - 0 by Braintree was bad but who the fuck did you lose 8 - 0 to?!

Doncaster lost 8-0 to ourselves back in December 1997, when their owner stitched them up!

If Orient do end up in non league then I'll warn you of the worst part about it.

Is it having only 12 away fans visit your ground for some games? -- No.
Is it having to visit grounds that look ready to collapse at any minute? -- No.
Is it getting beat by part timers that you have never even heard of? -- No.
Is it having to play in the FA Mickey Mouse trophy and postponing league games because of it? -- No.

Here is the worst thing about being in non league:

Being called BELTS by ChrisFGR week after week!

None of those other four points even come close!

If anybody is bored at work or something the podcast lads have done a rather long, but excellent, interview with Jay Simpson.

Reference to the Italians pushing Scott Kashket into depression but also about himself "I just wanted to get out of the club. I've never been diagnosed with depression before, I don't know what it's like, but you feel like you're depressed, down, you hate coming in, you're always in a bad mood. I tried to just get out and then worry about football later on".

A good listen, which confirms pretty muh what we already knew - That Becchetti and co have no idea how to motivate and manage people properly.

Edwards issues statement
It is with regret that I have made the decision to stand down as manager of Leyton Orient FC. It has been a very difficult decision but I feel that it is in the best interests of my career and my family.

I have been offered and duly accepted a role working within the coaching department of the Football Association.

It has been an honour and a privilege to have worked for the club for over seven and a half years. I thank the chairman for the opportunity to manage the team and I thank all staff, players and supporters for the backing that they have given to me in my time here.

It goes without saying that I wish Leyton Orient FC every success in the challenge ahead and in the longer term future.

Andy Edwards

Fair play. Was hoping he'd quit. He's done wonders with our kids and doesn't deserve this shit fucking up his cv. Best of luck to him.

It's looking bleak for Orient. We've managed to avoid this kind of shambles by the skin of our teeth.
Even if a new owner could be found, by rhe time the paperwork's done the transfer window would be shut.
Owner wants out, manager walks, coaching staff leaving and players desperate to leave adds up to a dispiriting mess.
Feel for the fans and staff and fear for your future as well, not just as a League team, but there is a chance of doing a Scarborough or Darlington unless someone manages to put the brakes on the c!ub sliding off the cliff.
Could very easily have been us.

Yup. Becchetti apparently has loaned the club £10,000,000ish. Loaned. If a buyer is not found this season Angelieri has said in his statement the youth will be used. That wage expenditure is going to be maybe below £300,000 p/a presuming Massey and Kelly move on. We've seen with Kidderminster Harriers what happens with that approach. Moving on if Becchetti is unwilling to write off his loans then what are the odds on someone purchasing the club? We're probably relying on a crazy supporter winning Euromillions. Beyond that? Liquidation is certainly a reality.

He probably wouldn't liquidate as there aren't enough assets to strip fo get anywhere near £10million . What our previous owner did was to shrink costs all over the place. Payments for training facilities, overnight trips, and the general administrative costs of running a business. Obviously the first team suffered, the standard of player miles down on the 2013/14 squad.
Do you own your ground, that's where the real problems start. We rent from the council on a secured lease which makes it impossible for any owner to sell the land. This has been to our advantage more than once in the last ten years.

Don't blame Andy for walking, we only have one striker now and cannot bring any players in. His interview yesterday said it all, he was as down as everyone else.

Its got to the point where we've all accepted we will go down, our owner has completely run us into the ground.

We won't be signing any players next season unless he sells up, it will all be players from our youth team.

Barry Hearn owns the ground, sold it to himself.
Is that a good thing?
I'm assuming that regardless of what happens he will stiil allow an Orient side to play there. Sadly sounds like there are no wheels let to fall off and administration is likely, just hope something gets sorted for you

Honestly, I don't know. I mean it's good Francesco Becchetti/ Lilianna Condomitti don't own it. But he's charging £180k p/a for rent now I believe and what happens if LOFC were to go bust, AFC Orient wouldn't be on the tenancy agreement. A bloke who was involved in LOFT reckons it's likely Uncle Bazza would be agreeable and there is a sporting covenant in the London Borough of Waltham Forest freehold, but, ya know, London housing crisis.
