As well as being obsessed with us, I see predictions aren't a strong point either.

pontoonlew.

Two mid table sides playing out a mid table kind of game. Only one of those sides appear to have accepted that though.

Son of Cod.

I'd let go of these playoff hopes if I were you though mate, almost certainly won't make it.

Am sure you will all be back on here should we not make it past Exeter or Cov/Notts.
Can you not see the irony of claiming Grimsby fans are obsessed, whilst in the same post scrolling back through old posts to find incorrect predictions from Grimsby fans?
Son of Cod left months ago ffs.

Looking forward to watching this one tomorrow, think it’ll be the pick of the playoffs in the Football League. I’d like to see Exeter get promoted (despite beating us this time last year ), but this tie could really go either way, and I think there’ll be a few goals.

2-2 first leg

Great finds them Branston, "two mid table sides" :woot::woot:

The Grimsby clan on here always find their way over to our discussions, fish and paul's imps thread compasses are in full working order.

We're on a journey that will see us in the champ in 3 or 4 years. And you can all bookmark that. Anyone with an ounce of football knowhow can see that's highly likely.

Scunny, Yeovil, Burton, Colchester and Southend all got there no reason why we can't with our management, board backing and crowds.

Cowleys are key to this obviously and they're here to stay (unless Mr and Mrs Radford make them an offer they can't refuse of course)

Not sure if it's been mentioned on here but I hear a stretch of the M1 around the Nottingham/Leicester area is closed over the weekend and there is also The Nottinghamshire Show at The Newark Showground too which will cause long delays for any Exeter fans travelling, so I hope they'll factor that into their journey time.
Many from Exeter are acutely aware of this, and I think it impacted on numbers sold, as in combination with this I think you can only do it by train and back on the same day if you go via london, which also has put a fair few off. Should be a cracker if anything like the game there back along

A very good point Paul, the word obsessed gets wrongly thrown about on here far too often. I’m not a fan , I Class it as very lazy. But fishy appears the exception , when it comes to anything Lincoln related, inc this play off thread. It appears a legit claim.

At least I spread my waffle around plenty and get accused of being obsessed with 5-6 topics not just 1-2. Which kinda contradicts the label in itself.
I have absolutely no problem with other clubs' fans contributing to Lincoln match threads, as long as they're contributing something. Just posting "Matt Rhead's fat lol" is irritating.

Division 3 from our first playoff season is a different world. One club no longer exists (Rushden and Diamonds who won the league ), 2 are in the Premier League (Bournemouth and Swansea) 9 are currently non-league and some not even National League. Hull City are in there too. Weird to think back then none of those teams seemed out of place there.

I used to dread our play-off games under Big Keith, but I'm incredibly calm about today. I'm just looking forward to what should be an incredible atmosphere and whatever will be, will be.

It's not really do or die for us, we've already had a marvellous season and we're just delighted to have done so well in our first season back. If it doesn't work out for us I'd expect us to come back even stronger next season.

Same, it is a free hit. We are rather good in these one off games though.

It's a two off. We haven't won any of our three play off first legs, but we won the tie on each occasion.

Agreed totally, I feel less nervous today than I did last Saturday against Yeovil. We have done the hard work by getting to the play offs and any further is a bonus. With the Cowley(s) at the helm backed by good ST sales and money in the bank, there's no reason why we cannot be more of a threat and even stronger next season.

Lincoln definitely do have the advantage of being under less pressure due to several factors, looking forward to watching the game.

I’m hoping Exeter get through mind, due to distance and I see them as the biggest threat next season out of the two, although both are to be fair.

Sky already calling us direct. Who cares? It's League Two.

You could get dangerously pissed if you had a drink every time they say we are direct. Anyone would think Exeter were Barcelona the way they're going on.

The fact you lot get so sensitive over that is telling.

I don't think it matters really, so it's not worth getting aggy about.

Exactly. Play to your strengths.

Anyway direct doesn’t always mean long ball, you can be direct just by having players who constantly run directly at the oppositions bsck 4. In Lincoln’s case direct does mean long, but that’s playing to Rhead’s strengths so nothing wrong with it. It’s shit when teams go long but don’t have the players for it, that’s when it looks ugly.

First 25 minutes and Exeter have had a lot of possession but done nothing with it.

Two decent penalty shouts and Rhead has been elbowed with nothing from the ref, who hates us.

Rhead will be throwing elbows all game, works both ways.

Pretty even first half with Exeter having the better chances.

Exeter look decent but Lincolns long ball is causing problems.

Hilarious to watch Lincoln moaning that they're getting roughed up, they've been doing it all season.

He wasnt even elbowed, an Exeter player placed a hand on his chest while holding him off and Rhead collapsed holding his face like a Shakespearean actor and then spent the next 2 minutes making elbowing gestures at the referee, then strangled one of the Exeter players and had a free kick given against him.

Ref looks like he’s been well warned about Lincoln’s usual antics

Roughing other teams up or moaning that they themselves are getting roughed up? They've been doing both.

Sorry, whats that? I cant hear you from all the way down there in 10th. :bye:

Still, at least you play nice football...oh...
Would I like to be in your position? Of course I would.
Would I like to see my team employ Lincoln's gamesmanship, certainly not?
Would I accept said gamesmanship if it got us into the playoffs? I can't answer that, possibly though I'd be in denial about it.
