I'd like to first and foremost point out that brainlessness does not necessarily require a technical shitness such as that of Titus Bramble, for example. Indeed, Moreno is a technically gifted footballer. He just can't use it to save his life.

Actually, the only thing he is genuinely bad at doing is a sliding challenge, or any challenge that includes going to the ground. Unfortunately, he combines this trait of his with going to the ground more regularly than I'd recommend any defender ever doing.

This, I suspect, is also why he's lasted so long at the top level. I can imagine coaches telling him "Moreno, just don't go to the ground!". But he just can't help himself.

Moreno wouldn't be on a lot, he signed for us ages ago and I don't believe he has signed a new deal. Be lucky if he's on £30k a week which is what Robbo signed up on before he got a new extension in the summer doubling that.

I'm not disputing the fact Alberto merits a place on a list of incompetent defenders any discernible person with a 'basic understanding for the game' would find relatively easy to compile ,I'm simply saying there has been a veritable plethora of defenders were concentration and a fundamental grasp on the requisite intelligence needed to hold down such a position has been found to be seriously wanting.

Moreno is an error strewn cretin,who has no place at this club ,but I'm old enough and 'hopefully' wise enough to recall many more who have raised my blood pressure to a frankly unacceptable level whilst watching through fingers in a vain attempt at somewhat obscuring my view from their displays. relatively content with our back four started when we procured Hyypia and paired him with Henchoz.

If I was to make a comparison with Moreno on those that came before ,Insua is the closest in terms of pace and attacking potential but alas no real defensive awareness and often 'not dissimilar' from Moreno found himself out of position or the wrong side of an attacker.
