I posted on the old forum under a different name in the Blue Square/Skrill days. Think it was A N Other Luton Fan as was before our lord and saviour Steve McNulty aka Sumo turned and rocked our worlds and there were so many of us at that time. Kenneth was also around on that forum iirc.

Chelsea for us tonight. 1 billion in transfers since their takeover and still in a state of some flux. Crazy, crazy league.

It was like yesterday that Fleetwood signed Steve McNulty from Barrow for a lot of money ( for us ) circa £17500. He was a terrific player for us and even better for you. Top guy....

All realty we are signing Isaac Hayden from Newcastle. Midfield player.

Got to be honest, not feeling it. Played a dozen or times for Norwich last season, and 28. Surely got to be someone out there in the 20-24 age bracket wanting to put themselves in the premier league shop window that we can sell on for a fee?

Hes a DM right? Maybe hes thinking on the option of a formation change, to match what many/most Prem teams play in a 4-2-3-1. Bell and Eli, who are the two Im most concerned about, then drop out/lower in the pecking order and theres a lot of competition for all the slots

Potentially, but apparently it’s a loan and we can only have 1 more of those in our 25 man squad. Not sure an extremely injury prone DM is what’s needed for that really.

Don’t know just not really feeling like it’s a smart one from our point of view but have been wrong before.

......like when we signed Sumo? ;-) Steve Foster i thought was a deadful signing......oppps.

Is a bit of a non Luton looking one. But we do our homework and dont sign too many duds. Those we have were generally future looking and our level improved quicker than some players abilities could. I see even Nombe is a 1M shout these days

No worries mate, I enjoyed watching the video. Got to say Mr McNulty had certainly put on the pounds, come to think of it we signed Sean Gregan from PNE and Jon Parkin from the same club ( he might have been playing for another club at the time ) and both these gentlemen were world class ambassadors for PIES. Talk about a brick ithouse. Good signings for us and Parkin was absolute class

Well that was made a lot more difficult than it needed to be at half time. We’re cruising and well in control at 2-0, great goal ftlm Brown and a wonder strike from Doughty. Then we lost a header from a straight forward ball up from the keeper, Gillingham get in behind and suddenly it’s 2-1 and we look a little wobbly for a little bit.

Wonderful strike from Woodrow to restore the lead and looked back in control, knocked the ball around nicely, Barkley showing some good touches and vision linking with Nakamba well at times. Probably should have been a bit more ruthless and forward thinking with some of the possession you could say. Switched off a bit I think as Gillingham through a bit more caution. Second goal disappointing as a free header from the edge of the box shouldn’t be happening.

Think our final 3rd quality told on the end, 3 wonderful goals from us. On that basis Doughty should be starting at LWB for me. Much more direct than Giles who I was a bit surprised was a bit tentative in his attacking play.

What do you think of the new stand?

Looks rather out of place !

Well it was certainly different! Definitely gives a different feel to the ground and there’s been quite a bit of other less seen work in the concourses and entrances to to smarten things up.

Amazing job been done to get it ready in time, fantastic achievement and I think it looks quite smart and still in theme with the idiosyncratic nature of the ground. Gary Sweet was saying that there is plenty more to do in the coming international breaks.

Pitch is not looking it’s best though because of it, few patched in front of me with literally no gras!

Stand looks great, however temporary. The Old Girl has never looked better - which is a sad indictment, but hey, she hasnt. Ever. Bobbers was bad, boxes worse. This looks half decent and adds more fans. Great job in no time at all.

What a breath of fresh air Rob Edwards is. Comfortable with the media, humourous, smart, sounds astute and tactically aware and a great smile.

I think he's painting a somewhat rose tinted picture, thats maybe brighter than reality, but thats his job and he should be trying to motivate the fans and squad with positive vibes. Not sure there were too many moments where we were competitive versus Chelsea. But we arent looking at those fixtures for points. Looking forward to Friday but another very tough match. Hoping we can turn it on and up a quality and attacking notch in front of our fans. The games v the Hammers have often been crackers.

Nice piece by sky sports on the renovations here. Amazing job been done by everyone, love the passion of Gary really coming through, and the interview room that was previously a storage cupboard and “probably still is” :bg:

Sorry did not see this.

You are pretty much right although I did like him when he did play. Played in a midfield 3 here, looked technically really good with the ball and a clever player. But slow and picked up an injury which meant his impact here was limited

Haven't heard much about this since, but he'd strengthen our bench at least. Could be an OK impact player.

He was class at QPR but seems to have declined a lot since he went to Sheff Utd.

Right footed I think according some bits I’ve read online! Seems a bit more of a project signing than some of the others we have made this season just going off what Edwards says about it

Thought we did ok tonight. Was quite a tight game overall, we got punished for 2 sloppy moments and we weren’t able to do the same for them. First goal is frustrating as it’s the same thing as the Brighton game and the first goal there. Bell caught under the ball and switched off at the back stick. Then the second is a set piece. If we are to make a decent fist of it we have to do those sort of basic things well.

Has to be said a fairly blatant penalty at the end not being given denied is the chance at getting a point. Didn’t come up as being checked by VAR in the stadium and cannot fathom why. Think the refs didn’t want to make a game altering decision probably.

Cannot fault the effort at all. Barkley I’m not sure is fit bit shows some nice touches, want to see him Impose himself more, there’s quality there but needs to take on that creative mantle.

Also got my eye on Giles - he comes across very timid to me, always think players with a bit of personality and edge to them suit us best and so far he’s not fitting that bill. Not one to question the wisdom of the recruitment but in this case, not sure why we felt the need to invest heavily in a LWB when we had Doughty, who was outstanding I felt tonight being shifted to RWB. With our somewhat limited resources I do question if that was really something we should be doing.

Just about every dangerous ball in is from Giles. I think he looks pretty useful. I do like Doughty tho, but id bet a penny or two his efficiency on deliveries are lower percentage and quality.... But hes def a proper Hatter for sure.....talking of which........sad to see Campbell go, but the writing was on the wall since Edwards arrived.

Interesting you say that because I really disagree, I think his delivery- which is supposed to be his best asset, has been substandard largely and we’ve noticeably already taken him off set pieces as well. Defensively he’s suspect too. Rightly subbed tonight and Doughty shifted back across to LWB as well which has happened twice in a row now ( admittedly one cup game). Doughty is also back on set pieces and took some decent ones last night I felt especially first half

He may well come good, but i sort of wanted to see a great deal more to make it look worthwhile to have shunted Doughty about to accommodate him.
