I'd be ok with our board dissolving the club. Things are that bad.

Didn't Colchester win 7-1 at Norwich first game of the season a few years back.

Norwich got promoted, too. We're Yeovil really piss poor, though?

New signings look mint, Vassell looks so good you wonder how the best striker in the league last season can get back in the team and Olly Lee even looked like a professional footballer.

Don't think we'll be seeing any moans about the diamond system tonight :P1:

Needless to say though there are much, much, much tougher tests to come.

There's definitely an element of that. They played a criminally high defensive line against the fastest striker in the league and got caught out so many times without changing it.

The negative side of me is slightly concerned by the fact that we could/should have conceded 4 today (They scored 2, missed a pen and keeper made a worldie save). At home to a poor team, little bit worrying.

If we attack like that every week though who cares!!!

I told Oakey that Yeovil will struggle to score goals this season (well, that's what a mate of mine reckons, and he's much more familiar with their squad than I am that's for sure). I think I must have misheard him.

Definitely an element of Yeovil being very poor but you have to say we were excellent too. I remember last season we played some really limited looking teams at home and all too often we dropped points against them.

The finishing of Vassell and Collins was exceptional and McCormack absolutely dominated the midfield. The new signings in general looked a level above anything we had last season to me and Lee looked so much better as well.

Kind of agree with JD though about conceding 2, the first was kind of fair enough, you're going to get decent free kicks like that a few times a season but the second was a very poor goal IMO, centre halves should be dealing with that cross easily, or indeed Stacey should be stopping it in the first place, and another ball in the box that wasn't dealt with properly resulted in Stech having to make an unreal save - guess thats what he is there for - but stuff to work on in that respect.

Going forward though we were really excellent - real quick tempo to our play, great movement and genuine quality in our final ball too. That's the standard we have to aim for.

I didn't think it was a free kick for their opener or indeed a penalty. That said I feel we took it easy in the second half which allowed them to come forward a bit more. Stech looks a decent keeper though. More pleasing is even if we concede goals we are more and likely to score more. Today it was a case of "we score when we want". I'll gladly watch that kind of game every week thanks. Reminded me a little of our golden era when the emphasis was on attack. Don't think any Luton fan will get carried away but even despite the poor opposition I have to say the signs look good.

Every tom dick and Harry thinks we're gonna piss this league except most of the more "both feet on the ground" type Lutoners....
Nj has to show better management skills this season if he's to make the most of a promising squad....
Start by not planning a team around mpansy for a start!!
Now then Oaky I was rooting for you in the play offs big time against Blackpool but seeing as you took pity on them I am now quite glad they got up as a real local derby awaits Fleetwood
I trust Luton will not make the same mistake this year, still waiting to buy you a beer at Highbury, have a good season mate and see you next year !!!
As I was saying mate.......

Yeah we should be aiming for 8 goals every week.

The target for Barnet has to be a 9.

Was talking about the level of play, and that sharp incisive brand of football we played first half... Of course we aren't going to score 8 every week.. surely by now you've realised I'm fairly realistic about things Kenny!

Think it was a penalty, looked a real clumsy challenge from McCormack, pretty much the only foot he put wrong all game I think. The foul for the free kick looked really soft though.

McCormack's goal was an absolute belter. Must be very satisfying to see your new striker bang in a hattrick on his debut too! And Vassell's second was very tidily taken. All this without Hylton too. Take a bow, Luton. When I saw Yeovil score first, I was thinking "oh yeah here we go, Luton hyped up and actually gonna be shite this season."

Commiserations, Yeovil. Feel for those 258 away fans.

Must have been tough for the travelling Yeovil fans. We've all been there. Not conceding 8 goals perhaps but on the end of a thrashing.
I thought Yeovil still created chances but they couldn't handle our pace and defensively allowed us to play to our strengths. A one off result which we won't repeat again. I'll be happy with a scrappy 1-0 win at Barnet. Still think this will be the most open promotion race for years.

But we've not been there in terms of conceding 5 in one half and 8 in your first game of the season.
That is totally unacceptable.

We could've/should've been 1-0 up after 20 seconds. Even when they scored there was still an air of inevitability about the result. And that was their first chance of the game; everything else was up the other end. Some of our link up play was beyond the level.

As I said on the other thread, this game could've/should've been double figures. The Yeovil keeper made 2-3 top class saves. At times in the first half it was absolutely relentless.

Can we have James Collins back please?

I thought he would do well but a hat trick on your debut is above and beyond.

Far too early to say. Enjoy it for what it is, but I'd caution about reading too much into it. You mullered a team in your first game last year, where did you and they end up respectively at the end of the season?

Is it just me who isn't really a fan of this sort of thing?

Pay your money and take your chance...?

Fans aren't demanding it back.

If the players feel they weren't worthy of the price the fans paid and wish to pay them back, why not?

I'm assuming not off the back of 90 minutes?!

No this has been going on for years. It all really went wrong when we got promoted to the Championship. Our board are a disgrace. It would be better to put us all out of our misery.

I've been raving about him for a while, but Andrew Shinnie setup FOUR goals yesterday. I've seen worse debuts! Olly Lee setup two also for that matter.
