Far too early to say. Enjoy it for what it is, but I'd caution about reading too much into it. You mullered a team in your first game last year, where did you and they end up respectively at the end of the season?

I'll be honest, I'd had a skinful when I posted that. Have been a Luton fan for far too long to indulge in anything like optimism.

It's hard to know if we were really good or Yeovil were really bad. It's probably a little from column A, little from column B. A few things are evident though.

The squad are now able to play the way Jones wants us to. Last season we were trying to play a passing style that we just didn't have the personnel to play. This season the additions of McCormack, Shinnie and Collins, plus Olly Lee being allowed to play in a more advanced position meant our passing game was on point yesterday.

We have ridiculous firepower. 6 goals for our strikers yesterday even with Hylton out. Will be interesting to see how we keep all 4 happy when all are available.

Keeper crisis has been solved. Stech is brilliant and the crowd will really warm to him. Could perhaps have been in a better position for the free kick but the penalty Save made up for it.

We could still do with a big centre half. Was a bit frustrated with the second goal which, again, was a ball into the box not dealt with. Something we suffered with last season, most notably the playoff second leg against Blackpool. Not sure it's been dealt with.

Andrew Shinnie will be key to us scoring. No point having the firepower we do if you haven't got the people behind to create the chances. Shinnie had 4 assists yesterday and is a proper number 10. His scoring record isn't great but I daresay he might be top of the League in assists come May.

All in all, a great day out and cautiously optimistic.

I've been raving about him for a while, but Andrew Shinnie setup FOUR goals yesterday.

Shinnie was superb yesterday but this shows how assists are a silly stat. The 'assist' for Collins's hat trick was a ball that was cleared by a Yeovil defender which bounced off Shinnie into the path of Collins 30 yards away from goal.

The save he made in the second half was even better, one of the best saves I've seen in years in fact.

I've had his song stuck in my head all day today!

Absolute worldie of a save. The fact he got cleaned out, was down for 5 minutes and got up to carry on will have helped endear him to the fans too. I remember at Orient away when Jonathan Mitchell cleaned someone out in one of his only appearances for the club, everyone went nuts for him. Respect can be earned in odd ways.

It's a decent song however fairly sure it was originally penned for Walton. One lad tried to get a song based on Flash by Queen going. Didn't quite get the same traction.

'STECH!! Aaa-AAAHHH!! He saves every one of them!'

'The cross comes high but he's holding on,
Marek Stech is our number one.
He's not the kinda guy, who gives up just like that,
Ohhh no!'

And repeat until bored...

It is probably a bit of both. For the last two or three years I thought that Yeovil were consistently one of the worst teams to visit home park. And your side is obviously full of potential. Moreover, as has been noted, not sure that the ones who came down, with the possible exception of Coventry are as strong as Donnie, Pompey and us janners, so the league might be a bit easier in terms of depth. I assume you will be there or thereabouts, but really it takes eight to ten games in to get a feel for the teams.

If Yeovil "aren't that good" I presume all the other teams will be sticking eight past them too?

No this has been going on for years. It all really went wrong when we got promoted to the Championship. Our board are a disgrace. It would be better to put us all out of our misery.

Let me guess, stubborn owners who hide from the fans and won't invest or sell up?

I've said all along he's the best signing of the summer by a long way. He's a brilliant keeper and I just wish we still had him. The sight of him holding the League 1 Play Off trophy at Wembley is one that will stay with me forever :bg:

You know when a club has problems -- When you offer a player a contract he turns it down and the next couple of days announces his retirement from the game.
