No,these are players whose contracts have run out in June and have not been picked up for whatever reason....Most will have to drop down to Non league, move abroad or be lost to the game

I don't see how letting them fold benefits anyone though. Bailout should be based on tight financial rules, no one can spend more then 70% of their average match day income from the previous year, and all clubs must show a profit after 2 years in the EFL or face sanctions.
Clubs in the EFL dont exactly have a good track record of following guidelines regarding financial regulation. Previously a lot of teams have done everything in their power to get around whatever rules have been put in place, so I have basically no faith that clubs will follow any other "rules" which are enacted.

Are most clubs running with smaller squads than usual? Doesn't really feel like we are, though our squad is a couple players down on last season's, at this early stage it doesn't seem like we have any passengers in the squad. Grimsby certainly aren't. If the number of players who get signed by league teams is around the same as is normal then presumably the number of players without clubs who don't get signed is also similar.

Still nobody signing Nathan Thomas. He's way too good for non-league.

Not a lot of sympathy for many of the troubles of ex-PL EFL clubs.
If you add up the total amount of money Bolton (sorry not sorry Masi), Charlton, Wigan and Sunderland were handed out during their time in the PL it will go into the billions. What did any of them did with it, apart from splash it on players. And one FA Cup trophy between them.

The teams you mention all chased the dream and fell from the premier lge just as the really big money kicked in.

We had some horrendous luck with injuries and we sold some players way under Market value or they left for nothing
Robbie Elliot we signed for £2.5m got injured after two games was out nearly two seasons
Marcos Alonso left us for Nothing
Sean Davis signed him on big money 3 year deal injured the whole three years played 3 games for us
Fabrice Muamba Paid 5m for him Well documented why he had to retire
Mark Davis big talent but hardly played in four years
Stuart Holden what a player but another who suffered a career finishing injury 30 games four years
Eider Gudjonnson
Gary Cahill
Abdoulaye Faye
Mark Fish
All players sold way under market value

I thought you were one of the better ones. Big Sams legendary one year contracts will have saved the club a fortune. Maybe it went wrong after that.

No on the contrary i get it completly and you may be right it may hinder my club in 5 or ten years time.
Look at some of my posts early July August when i say football MUST change.
Long term the big 6 will move into a European/world league. 25% of sky money is a big pot to turn our noses up at
This is not a one off payment it is year on year.
Also the is money offered to clubs in the National league and lower. Fans are not getting inside grounds any time soon and its a life line to clubs on the verge of going bang.
If i dont see Bolton in the premier league again its no big deal. The club/football will have a chance to grow build with this over haul.
American/Arab owners dont care about the Fa Cup.....They just Care about the brand. They openly state they would rather finish 4th in the league rather than win the FA.Cup.
As for snapping up all the best youngsters that is happening now.

Some of the proposals like £20 tickets and subsidised travel for the Premier league should be extended to all leagues. Again paid for out of this money.
Apart from your West Hams, Burnley etc this will be a good thing for football.

This bleating about losing two clubs is false....yes they will be relegated but they will be stronger financially and stronger as a club.
Without this deal i think we will lose clubs year on year to debt.
looks like yet again i was right

Dont think thats part of the deal....
The premiership would soon lose all appeal, within 10 years the top six would break away into a European league leaving ten teams in limbo
Seems my forecast of teams breaking away within 10 years was way off......more 10 days

Sooner the better. Any European Super League would have no relevance to me. And the interest in a series of glorified friendlies will soon wear thin on fans of those clubs involved. Owners obviously don’t give a stuff about their domestic fans turning up to watch them.

The problem is that the millions of plastic Asian fans would keep it afloat.

No way should they be allowed to remain in any domestic football competition as well - they leave and that’s it. Any players should be barred from representing their countries. Bit like the Kerry Packer Cricket breakaway in the 80s.

Bring it on!

On this i completly agree with you.
Once they have gone the would be no way back. I think it was always going to be on the cards once you get American and Arab owners.
They dont get the brand and the sport in England.
They wanted to get rid of the league cup and the FA Cup would have been next.
Barrow v Liverpool in the cup is something they can never understand.

Who'd be in this European Super League then? Arsenal? The likes of Devon Lad wasn't even born the last time they won the league!

But how valuable would the rest of us be to Sky/BT etc? No so bad for us bottom feeders as we get fuck all now as it is.

Would broadcasters be willing to pay much showing the likes of Leicester, Villa etc as the main clubs.

Apparently its 5 English clubs so one misses out...

Looks as though it would more replace the Champions League? A round robin format assume they'd not enter the cups and run two leagues side by side but not sure how it would work.

Ultimately, it'll lead to the end of the Premier League. Simply accept those clubs back into the EFL and then we're in a better marketing position overall.

Bollocks to the Big 6. Champion's League football is already getting miniscule figures in the UK, if BT ended up with the rights to the new European League then the figures may well be decent for a year or so but pretty soon they'd tail off. It'd only be a real concern if a terrestrial channel gets the rights but, let's be honest, that really isn't going to happen.

How can they fit in another 34 games into the existing PL format?

Let them go, kick them out.

I hear Bolton are being considered for one of the English spots in the European Super League, as they're so god damn massive.

Just let them go. They can either have a European Super League based on league positions with promotion and relegation, or they can have a closed shop with no Premier League participation.

The domestic leagues and UEFA cannot allow them to have their fantasy while remaining in their domestic leagues.

Time for anyone with a shred of moral fibre to hold firm and not back down when some cash is chucked at them.

Be a bit like the RFU not picking overseas based players for England I suppose?

I actually think it’ll be good for English football if they’re gone. The rest of the EPL is much more evenly matched and therefore I think it’d be more open. There’d be less money in the game so there’d be less ludicrous salaries at the top and then less further down too. Bring it on I say.
