And surely if Hurst and Askey do end up back at their old clubs then we have to reset the season and start all over again yeah?

Statement from the owner today confirming that Danny has got the job until at least January.

"The next couple of months is a crucial period in our Club’s history, as we navigate our way out of an extremely difficult start to the season.

The injuries, bad luck and last minute goals conceded are all well documented, but that’s behind us now. We must look forward with positivity and unity, led by Danny and Neil. The squad of players we have certainly have what it takes to steer us away from trouble.

Danny wanted the Manager’s job during the summer, with an experienced assistant. This was given a great deal of thought but it was decided we wanted Danny to acquire more experience assisting an experienced manager to bridge the gap between being a player to becoming a very good manager further down the line.

As players come back from injury, Danny is best placed to make the best use of them, given his deep knowledge of the squad.

He’s Macc through and through and deserves the respect from everyone connected with the club.
January will obviously be an opportunity to review things and re-shape the squad, as necessary, depending on the progress we have made."

First home win for two months, scraped past a struggling non league side. I'm glad we weren't prepared to sit on unnaceptable form for too long. We were sleepwalking down to the wrong end of the league. Brown's team selections were becoming more bizarre every week. Think he'd ran out of ideas.

I'm glad we've acted.

Hurst? He'd probably want a L1 Club but worth a chat, surely?

Yeah I'd be more than happy with Hurst. Our aim is to get to L1 so if Power can sell that ambition then I don't see why not.

Its important we make the right appointment to give this side a shot in the arm. We should be much higher than 17th so a good run and we can turn our season around. With Brown it was so turgid.

We had less than 4k on Saturday, and fans have been moaning about the poor standard of football at home for a while now. The low crowds will be hurting Power's pockets. I suspect the new manager will be told that the football needs to be a little more entertaining!

Damn it, if Fenty had just stumped up the wages that he wanted that could be us sacking Brown now.;)

The highlight of his managerial career at Swindon was the blonde bits he had in his hair. Dull football, poor results and generally just a desperate time in charge.

Surprised Brown struggled so much at Swindon, his record at previous clubs is reasonable enough to have thought he'd do better. Three promotions and a playoff campaign on his CV isn't too bad even if he also had mediocre to poor seasons, he was often up against it financially.

BREAKING NEWS I hear Wellens is about to get the Swindon job.

Beat off stiff competition from Sol Campbell and Russell Slade.

Harry Bassett coming in as director of football.
