Whoever gets Mellon will be getting a good manager in my opinion.

Whoever gets Cooper will be on my new club to hate list!

Cooper to Bradford CONFIRMED.
Haha. That would be on a par with appointing Steve Evans in terms of the impact of season ticket sales, unless you are referring to Bradford Park Avenue. We are Bradford City mate not Bradford

Bookies have closed their books and rumours that McGreal is the new manager. Not unhappy with that.

You'd have been far more involved in the promotion race the last few seasons had Cooper been manager rather than your last few appointments.
Cooper is everything that's wrong with football these days. Producing horrible cheating sides more intent on winding up the opposition, time wasting and players feigning injuries amongst the antics.

He obviously inherited the tactics from his dad who was part of Revie's dirty Leeds team.

So no thanks mate.

Out of curiosity why did FGR sack him?

I can't comment on his sacking, but judging on the comments made on Twitter by our media manager (who was FGR's media manager until the beginning of last season), he's undoubtedly a bully and treats club staff like shit.

Feel sorry for you, if as expected, he is appointed your manager. He will keep you up for sure and make you hard to beat, but also despised. Shame really as I have a soft spot for Cumbrian clubs and Morecambe

I don’t think it’s a bad appointment despite him being a bellend.

Same with Evans, completely understand why you would not want him, but I’d be very confident he would get Bradford promoted, that’s if he doesn’t leave for China with 12 games left.

He does undoubtedly rub some people up the wrong way, but he is a decent manager who can develop players, or the ones that respond to him in any case.

Would be a good appointment for anyone at this level.

Yet not good enough for you now, hence why he was sacked, or was he caught eating meat pies in his office?

Evans hasn't got anyone promoted in almost a decade now, so why us?

He was sacked after a run of 5 defeats in 6, but I get the impression there was a bit more to it then that as we've had similar runs before and got out of them. Around January Vince seemed keen on extending Cooper's contract, and seemed pretty relaxed that it would be straightforward but nothing happened, and when asked, Cooper said he wanted to concentrate on getting to the end of the season. Cooper can be a prickly character and I think there was probably some friction about our transfer policy behind the scenes as we sold 2 of our best players and didn't really strengthen, 2 of our 3 signings were young kids on loan. That left us with very little cover or experience when injuries hit, and things went downhill from there.

Listening to a recent interview with our DoF it seems the club is very much leaning towards a player trading model, with the aim to generate profits from players sales with finding the 'sweet point' in terms of when to sell them being key. That means heavily concentrating on recruiting a lot of young players on the cheap using statistical analysis etc to try and outsmart other clubs, with fewer experienced/well known players being signed, we already fielded the youngest average starting xi in league 2 last season and he states that the intention is to go even further in that direction. Which is probably why we're looking at appointing an under 16's coach, developing young players is going to be key by the sounds of it, even if it means hitting some rough patches at
times.

No doubt he won't be everyone's cup of tea or a fans favourite, but I expect he'll do pretty well at Barrow.

Well measured reply mate. Although I think you are been kind to him suggesting he is a prickly character.

Only reason he didn’t with Mansfield was because he left, a L2 club with good money like a Bradford is perfect for him.

Whatever you think, given his appalling behaviour at Valley Parade whilst manager of Crawley, he would never get a job at Bradford City, thank god

I would have been happy with mcgreal coming here before we went and appointed the greatest manager of all times.

McGreal confirmed. 2 year deal signed sealed and delivered. The McGreal deal. Let's hope he is anyway.
Hopefully that means he has secured some assurances about the club - owner, budget etc. Power’s name must be shit in footballing circles.

It's impossible to know wtf is going on at the club behind the scenes. Unfortunately JM might be fighting fires until the ownership situation is resolved - hopefully by September.

I think it's a solid appointment for Swindon.
I, and a lot of fans are pleasantly surprised with his appointment. Given the goings on behind the scenes the fans were concerned about both the management and the playing staff (we have 9 under contract, no keepers).

What kind of football can we expect? Strengths, weaknesses etc? Any players he's likely to look to recruit?

We tended to play really well in the first half of games, and then he would have a tendency to drop deeper and sit on leads which often backfired. So very much a risk-averse manager, albeit some of the attacking stuff we would play when we were on it really was excellent and he always had us in and around the top seven. There is an argument that perhaps the squads we had during his tenure had the ability to push on a bit higher than that if they were a bit bolder, so it will be interesting to see if he is a little more adventurous with you.

Of the players that we have released, Tom Lapslie and Courtney Senior could be possible additions albeit they're complete stab in the darks. Lapslie was always a solid 7/10, a tenacious holding midfielder who might go unnoticed until he's not in the side. He missed much of last season with injury but it was a shame to see him go really and McGreal always seemed to like him. Courtney Senior has had a poor 12-18 months, but he was really excellent at times in recent years with the potential to play higher so he might be another that he would fancy giving another go to - skilful winger.
