Yeah but probably fair to cut the bloke a bit of slack, he has only been involved in football for around a decade and didn't seem to have any involvement whatsoever before that, either as a fan or player...he is still learning!
On the contrary, a decade is a very long time.

so it's true that he's retired?
There is a video of him discussing his future plans and saying his mind and body told him its time to move on to another career.
Shit happens.

OK, so it is more than a few years...I don't really like to go over old ground but I think that some of the things Dale did when he took over running the club demonstrated a complete lack of understanding of the game and what matters to fans, perhaps he was badly advised or just did his own thing regardless. That said, I am really proud of what our club has become with him at the helm, I know that he and the club are marmite...but I like it!

From his interview it sounded as if we made the approach.

he’s got experience of dealing with a side towards the bottom too, from his time at notts county  :)

That’s a good appointment for barrow. Expect them to be comfortably top half, possibly pushing for playoffs with him in charge.

Cooper (and Dryden) had us top 3 for most of this season, and in Dryden’s case our set pieces really improved, think we were amongst the highest scorers from them last season. Cooper’s man management seemed to have improved too, don’t remember much public criticism at all (which wasn’t the case in the past) and as always he’ll get Barrow playing decent stuff. Pretty certain they’ll do better then last season.

Good appointment I would say.

Lots of children on Twitter with FGR in their username telling us he's the worst manager ever.

Mid-table would be more than fine from next season.

Probably lots of children don’t really understand FGRs history, with respect they’re conference nobody with a rich owner, fans need to be realistic.

In fairness the FG fans here are decent and grounded but maybe a bit like salford maybe learn to walk before you can run, cooper would have got them up.

Either way, cooper at barrow could be a great signing, 2nd season syndrome is well known. I imagine barrow could get some tidy home crowds if they do alright

He came across well in his interview, he said he remembers Holker Street well from some of the receptions he's had over the years both as manager of FGR and Kettering, but wants to use that to his advantage now.

Great news... the efficiency of the renewals, extensions, pre season friendlies etc... don’t remember Bolton ever being this organised even in the good years. Just need Declan John now to sign and it’s really starting to come together

Got us promoted from the Conference in his first season, managed to keep us up when at times we looked nailed on for a speedy return, since then the club haven't been out of the top half of the table...making it to the play-offs twice...that isn't a bad manager from where I have been watching.

Granted he wasn't everyone's cup of tea and certainly rubbed a few up the wrong way, he never built a rapport with the fans...some managers do, some don't. He was coming to the end of his contract and Dale had probably decided already that he would use the opportunity to try freshen things up, I think it was the right decision and I'm happy with who he appointed.

I saw that but do you think he still goes even if he takes Morecambe up or do you reckon he just doesn’t think he can keep them up next season on their budget?

Whoever has agreed to become the new manager has already finalised the retention list.

I imagine when you’re that committed, you honour the agreement regardless of what you achieve at your current club.

Whether there’s a pre-contractual agreement in place (if there’s such a thing) or a mans word, whether Morecambe do the business or not at the weekend, this doesn’t hinder the agreement already in place.

That being said, it might not be Adams.

Indeed he will have got himself a decent rise, which could pay if he is poached in the next 12 months.
We have basically got everyone from next season tied up.
Hope we can now bring a couple of big signings in and see who we can get in the loan market.
The club is getting better month on month

Cooper's definitely a good manager, obviously with his flaws meaning he's down this end of the pyramid. To be honest I even used to think he was not so much a bully as someone who didn't suffer twats and lightweights which is no bad thing either.

if he has done so that’s a class act.

Regardless of how up or down the pyramid you are you should always be loyal to your current club, got a good mate who follows nantwich in the northern premier league, their manager announced before the playoffs he was off and they collapsed. Maybe it’s something between the board and him etc but morecambe and the playoff final should be his priority if a move to bradford is on.

With respect to morecambe the potential at bradford is slightly better than what there is at morecambe

Slightly more potential at Bradford?.Now I genuinely have a soft spot for Morecambe, but with all due respect to them, the gulf in potential is far greater than slight. Of course, without the right structure in place off the field and the right manager in place for on field affairs, potential means nothing. Our new CEO Ryan Sparks is gradually improving matters off the field, with the right manager in place, hopefully Derek Adams, we have the potential to rise and sustain a much loftier position in the Football League pyramid than Morecambe backed by crowds 6 or 7 times more than Morecambe could attract

Whereas there’s no doubt that bradford have more potential than morecambe it’s only useful if you’re actually any good. But as bolton have proved obviously a bigger club can fly. what fans of larger clubs need to be aware of and not fall into that trap is go “oooh we were decent once and we deserve this that and the other” (not that you’ve shown any such behaviour from what i know of you)

In a realistic sense over the last few years on the pitch there isn’t anything between bradford and morecambe.

it’s a logical move as the pitfall of being a morecambe is that it’s ultimately a ship window for other clubs to pick them off
