They’re going to replace him with Keith Hill again aren’t they?

Pretty awful timing for him to leave though. Suggests something gone off behind the scenes. Going to set them back in preseason preparations at the very least.

It's been a month of turmoil at Dale. First, the CEO/Director (and useless bugger number one of all eternity) Bottomley was voted off the Board together with another long time ditherer and fan abuser Rawlinson.

This followed action taken by a dozen or so influential long time supporters who mobilised the shareholders as to what was going on at the club. Good on 'em I say; deserve a knighthood the lot of 'em.

Basically; it appears that the Directors were on the verge of selling out to an unnamed bloke from Notlob who refused point blank to answer any questions about where the money was coming from and how any loans would be secured . it seems he had previously tried similar at Notlob, Wigan, Bury and Morecambe without success. Hmmmmm.

With me so far?

OK... then Bottomley the Director who appointed himself CEO was found to have not only put himself on a huge salary, but also to have given himself a 30% pay rise whilst putting others on furlough and making redundancies.

He was also guilty of awarding BBM an increased contract on more money than before...but forgot to inform the other board members for which he got a final written warning from the Chairman.

The whole episode stinks.

Bottomley left the club on Monday. Thank god.

BBM asked for compo to leave today; and out new Chairman said no....several times, so BBM has left. Makes me think that his comfort blanket has been removed and that he daren't face life without it.

Lord knows who we will end up with, but for the first time in my near 48 years, we have people actually competing to buy shares in RAFC !!! Normally, its easier to get rid of the black spot !!!

Surely Hilly won't come back for a third time to piss off the remaining few fans that liked him will he?

I for one am not in the least bit sad that BBM has gone... he was like a bankrupt mans Gareth Southgate and didn't win at home last season for 18 games ffs !!!!

He is quoted as saying that he doesn't ever look at the league tables, and is committed to bringing on young players whilst prohibiting them from passing forwards if at all possible.

BBM never passed forward once in his playing career either.

I like how he continues to use his little pet names he has for other clubs.

Notlob isn't even a nickname for Bolton, its a reference to the parrot sketch in Monty Pythons Flying Circus. The nickname would have Mary Whitehouse coming back to life to complain.

Robbie Stockdale confirmed as Rochdale manager on a two year deal. Previously assistant to Sam Allardyce at WBA.

Seems a sensible sort of appointment. We'll see.

Unconfirmed rumour that our new manager may be Ben Garner. That should tickle the Rovers fans!

I doubt it will go down particularly well with ours either!
Wellens was hardly universally welcomed! I think Garner may be a good coach, but lacking in actual managerial nous. Seeing we were looking oblivion in the face I, for one, welcome our new ex-Gas overlord.

When Wellens joined many fans had a similar tone, due to his job done at Oldham where he got relegated, and he was pretty much a success.

Clearly it didn't work at all at Rovers but his CV aside from that is very good and I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. It might work, it might not, but at this moment in time we seem to have owners that want to do the right thing and I trust their judgement and will get behind the manager and whatever players we bring in.

Not that I know diddly squat aboutRovers managerial set up, but they have had a succession of poor managerial appointments - including their present one. Maybe it’s not the manager, maybe it’s the set up.

In Garners case it was certainly a poor managerial appointment. He took a side 3rd in the table to a team that was constantly in relegation form. He talked a good game but unfortunately could not walk the same path. He is basically a very good U23 manager -- If you know what I mean. Hopefully if he becomes your manager he will come and collect the dross he signed and utilise them at your club. I wish him well in anything he takes on as he is a decent person -- But a league manager he is'nt. With regards to Joey . Well we will just have to wait and see.

It’s all speculation atm. He wouldn’t particularly excite me, but I wouldn’t be averse. What I wouldn’t want is one of those 50-60 year old roundabout managers

The positive thing about Garner is that he simply can't fail if he wants to be a football manager. 1 failed appointment can be seen as a blip, but 2 makes him nigh on untouchable.

I notice the resident gloom and doom merchant, JBZ, has been noticeably absent since the good news. He really is fucking dullard.

I hate the way he posts. Just looking to be antagonistic. When are you coming back or are you just going to lurk from now on?

Betting has been suspended. Suspect Garner working with Scott Lindsey to be announced in the next few days.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

The worst manager in our history.

Took the best team we’d had in my life time from 4th in L1 at Christmas to 14th by March. In that window he signed seven players.

He was then saved by Covid calling the season off and stupidly given a free reign all summer to tear apart the squad and sign what was on paper and even better squad. It somehow got even worse.

I think overall he had something like 0.9 PPG in 40 games or something. He can set you up to look ok, after months of failure, but gets found out at half time as he has absolutely no clue.

The bloke is delusional and he genuinely thinks his time here was a success. He will boast about lowering the age of the squad, but anyone can do that when you don’t renew our stats’ contracts and you sign unknown players who we’re now having to pay off because we can’t even get rid of them for free.

I’m sure he will claim something about our already being built training ground as well, the blokes a bore too. I honestly wouldn’t wish him on Swindon, there’s only 1 club I’d wish him on....

But apart from that....

From what he did to us, he already should be.

More or less. Just waiting for the minor legalities to be completed. The new owner was at our pre-season friendly last night and was happy to chat and pose for pictures, all very jolly stuff. Lots of positives so far and once the legalities are sorted, Axis are going to outline their plans for the club going forward.
